>With respect, Master GM, perhaps this is a player that *you* don't fully understand, either.
>A long time ago, I was in a LGS. My friends and I had designed a campaign for D&D Fifth Edition. We were trying to create a story that interested the party and kept them engaged. But one player kept making absurd decisions and derailing the campaign.
>So, we went looking for ideas to keep him engaged. But in six months, we never found any plot hooks that interested him.
>One day, I saw a set of notes with dozens of character names crossed out. The player had been murder-hoboing every NPC.
”So why even play the game?”
>Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like loot. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men...just want to watch the GM seethe.

I've really been enjoying reading through Runequest, so I don't understand why it seems so underrated in modern gaming.
There doesn't really seem to be much interest in the current edition compared to early ones.
I was hoping that there could be more excitement over its potential.
Especially with the changes coming.

Also I just ran the numbers on AnyDice and it turns out that 4d6k3 ends up leading to an median score total of exactly 91 anyway even though that's not how they got to that number in classic fantasy. Of course there's still a difference between rolling that high and taking 13 in every stat but you know. It's really not that outside the realm of possibility. Using normal creation 5% of characters will be that strong which seems like a good ratio for moving from soldiers to heroes. https://anydice.com/program/3f708

I want to get into pathfinder 2eR, and I really like playing wizards, but Vancian casting perplexes me to no end. Is there some sort of strategy guide? Like... How many fireballs am I supposed to prepare? Combat can come at literally any moment - how am I supposed to be prepared for the hundreds of spontaneous 'roll initiative''s?

Am I just supposed to load the fuck up on panic spells and fireballs and use spell substitution to cast everything as a pseudo-ritual when needed? How the hell am I supposed to account for this shit without having 9 mega lethals in the chamber just so I'm not the most useless babyboy in the world during any surprise combat? How do I go back in time and kill Jack Vance to stop Gary Gygax from reading Dying Earth and copying the stupidest magic system available?

you do research into the place you're going for the next dungeon crawl and you make educated guesses on what spells would be handy and what spells you can get by with having as scrolls. Your INT is massive, use it fucklechuck. This is why wizards have a reputation of being annoying nerds; not because they're smart or nothing, it's because they grind the adventure to a halt until they know exactly what they're up against.
The alternative is a generic always-useful list of spells.
>>
>>96605539
Seems like thinking is a little hard for you, maybe this isn't the hobby for you, have you tried playing modern videogames instead? That seems more your speed

>Am I just supposed to load the fuck up on panic spells and fireballs and use spell substitution to cast everything as a pseudo-ritual when needed?
Yes

>How the hell am I supposed to account for this shit without having 9 mega lethals in the chamber just so I'm not the most useless babyboy in the world during any surprise combat?
Thinking ahead.

Order of the Words Words Words actually explains it decently in its usual rambling fashion.

>"A wizard's strength is his ability to prepare different spells each day, but it is also our weakness. It is difficult, even for us, to defend against every possible form of attack simultaneously. Those we cannot block outright, we must evade. Those we cannot evade, we must eliminate pre-emptively."

That's the point of having the magic system set up as it is in the first place. Incredible cosmic might, but you still can't just cast "I Win" and call it a day. You have to pre-plan and adapt to whatever is thrown your way. And if you guess wrong, then that's your lesson to better plan next time. That's why D&D created the Sorcerer as a class later, for the people who are willing to give up a chunk of that power for a degree of spontaneity and freedom of choice when it comes to casting what they need at a given point.

That said, if you hate vancian magic that much, try a different system other than D&D. There's a shitton of games out there. Neither D&D nor Vancian casting is the end-all be-all to tabletop games.

Bondi "Warriors" is theme accurate so you can see the LLM is digging into its Norse warfare datas. As opposed to "Archer/Skirmishers" where the LLM simply dug into its how to wargame database and couldn't be bothered with the dress up anymore.

Well, what is Quality trying to abstract in your games? My understanding is that Pillage lets you kit out your men one by one so there's not much to abstract. Assuming combat readiness is already factored in the troop type and willingness to fight into the pillage roll novelty-thing, of course.

Sorry if I talk like a fag, it's one of those days for me.

I'm a big fan of Ravenfeast, but like >>96603270 says, it's a little simple. I personally have written an A4 sheet of rules tweaks and additions to give it a bit more depth, and it gives it just enough additional meat to allow for some more interesting games. It's all stuff like rules for burning houses, securing plunder, that sort of thing, as well as making movement pseudo-random to enable some more command and control stuff.

I will never understand how digica players think about consistency and bricking. It's irrational in a way I didn't think was possible. You can literally force feed the most brain dead top-tier deck in existence to them, complete with rolling waves of support any other deck would drool over, and they'll go "EW NO WHAT IF PUTTING THIS INCREDIBLE CARD IN MY DECK MADE ME BRICK WITH THESE THREE SHITTY BLACK ROOKIES I PLAY???"
>>
>>96606548
When you get this much support your main concerns shift more towards consistency of effects rather than abundance or even power levels.

>Cyberpunk 2020 vs. Cyberpunk RED?
Cyberpunk 2020 is the second edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that focuses on simulation gameplay and has a black trenchcoat aesthetic.

Cyberpunk RED is the fourth edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that is set after Cyberpunk 2020 following the Fourth Corporate War, focuses on more balanced gameplay and is more streamlined but has less content.

It makes sense from a balance standpoint to make players invest into their humanity to tank dehumanizing equipment. You can't punish them with low humanity if they're already at low humanity.

I do agree that having low humanity should inoculate you against some humanity loss-- if you already care very little about other people, splatting them with exploding shells shouldn't bother you much more than putting out rat poison.

On the other hand for some characters having the slide go a long way down makes a lot of sense. My character in my current game is a bit of a cinnamon roll behind it all, but between cutting her teeth on the old ultra violence and all the cyberware we're pretty close to disassociative murder town by now.

You have to remember that being a true cyberpsycho makes you unpredictable, impossible to cooperate with and broadly unsuitable as a protagonist of any kind. Murderhobos exist in NC but you're probably getting hired to shoot them.
>>
>>96604618
>Make Humanity equivalent to CoC Sanity, decoupled from Empathy and becomes its own stat
>When you install new cyberware GM rolls under Humanity
>On success nothing happens
>On failure the cyberware has a quirk that gives GM a reason to fuck with you later
>Sometimes roll Humanity as a check to see if the PCs are too autistic to resolve a situation with interpersonal skills
>Players clap whenever they get Humanity restored and make sad noises when they lose it
Never going back.
>>
>>96605338
>player starts with 10 humanity
>they install every single cyberware in every splatbook
>just fine
>>
>>96604618
I'd mentioned to someone a negative humanity mechanic for those wanting to indulge in more chrome without having to deal with the humanity tax. I think they said they would cook it up, but I haven't seen anything for a few threads.

The idea being you are always in negative humanity and going into the positive is what makes you "lose control". i.e., being an unhinged cyberspscyho is your natural state. Being "normal" is what would make you breakdown.
>>
>>96605912
Even if they for some reason had enough money to do that, yeah, I guess. If someone wants to play with a lot of cyberware, why shouldn't they be allowed to? I don't penalise anyone for wanting a tricked out tacticool gun, or flashy car, or comfy base.

If female characters get a STR penalty, male characters should get penalties to:

CON (women live 7 years longer)
DEX (ever meet a guy who can do the splits? Most can't even touch their own backs)
CHA (dudes are famously bad at "reading the room" and empathizing with people)

Now that the dust has settled, can we all agree this feels like GW's passion project, whereas 40K is the cash cow that subsidizes it?

>I'd like more people playing Mordheim overall.
But they wouldn't be, not in any meaningful sense.
>With a rerelease, there'd be more sculpts and players to convince to try the OG as well.
Yeah that doesn't actually happen. What happens is anyone in your oldgame community that's a terminal FOMOfag(they're depressingly common) gets pulled away to the new game and you end up without enough people to keep the group running, so most of the rest of them leave and go play the nushit as well since at least between the newfags and FOMOfags they can get a game playing that, then the hype dies either because GW switches to trickle releases or just shits the bed somehow and most of the new community bail out as well, and the game dies.

My local area had three regular Necromunda groups(1 original rulebook, 2 NCE) one of which had been running non-stop since 1998, then GW launched Nucromunda, which caused a big frenzy for about 18 months and killed all the classic game groups, then the novelty locusts and newfags all got sick of it and moved on to the next Thing, now there's one anemic little Nucromunda group that the local GW barely tolerates and attemps to restart an NCE group at a local club have flopped because the grogs don't want to deal with newfags whinging that they can't use their radcannon-wielding flying jetsled cyborg Van Saar or undead Escher in the "boring" original, and the newfags and FOMOtwerps are hyped about whatever the next set of releases is.

Not to mention that the new sculpts will almost certainly be 99% Flanderized trash that pisses on the originals, and all the new fluff and rules will be wildly out of step with the old game's tone.

Dead Is Better, anyone who believes otherwise is a legitimate retard.

You're playing a game from 25 years ago that hasn't been actively supported for 20 years and has more fan content than was ever published for it by the people who made it originally, and you STILL just mope around whinging you can't buy plastic crack direct from the original supplier?

Reptillian Overlords. Highland Miniatures. Old Realm Forge. And those are just ones I remember off the top of my head. The first two do updated versions of the "free company" concept that piss on whatever heinous overdone garbage modern GW would produce, and if you're so lazy or such a poorfag you can't print yourself find someone else to do it for you or buy from the countless printshops that stock their designs.

Fuck I hate that GW is almost certainly going to ruin another of the coolest things it's ever done to appease subhuman hobbylets like you.
