Whatever this is, it beats getting asked trivia
for the 1st in the captcha. Anyway shame it's slow around here on holidays. The whole idea about the technocracy getting involved with epstein island? Nu-Wolf would never do that but honestly it's quite a fun bit for a campaign

well if you believe the
gangrel
and some osirians then Set also ate himself up from 4th gen gangrel to 3rd gen presumably by diablerizing a 3rd gen named typhon without any known side effects as his mental problems come from Apophis induced nightmares and his quest to regain his self proclaimed godhood

althought that would put into question why malkav and saulot used to bebest friends with him

>TCaC
Dominus Emperor
>[Normal Trap Card]
You can activate this card the turn that it is Set. Declare 1 Attribute; Special Summon this card as an Effect Monster (Fiend/Level 8/ATK 3000/DEF 0)(this card is NOT treated as a Trap), and if you do, this card's Attribute becomes that declared Attribute. You can banish 1 monster from your GY, face-down, whose Level is less than or equal to 8; this monster's name and Level becomes that monster's original name and Level, and replace this effect with that monster's original effects, also for the rest of this Duel, you cannot activate the effects of monsters with that same name, unless their original name is "Dominus Emperor". You can only use each effect of "Dominus Emperor" once per turn.

I can't make a full archetype around it, so I just made one boss monster for it instead.

The basic idea is that it plays around the Dominus series' Attribute locks (you can just declare DIVINE if you don't want to use one that isn't covered) and also lets you use SOME monsters' effects while potentially under every Dominus lock by means of effect duping. I know that effect duping is dangerous, but on top of Konami generally not giving a shit about how broken their own cards are, I feel like I gave it a pretty sufficient level of restrictions (no Xyz/Links, no high-level monsters, the level is also duped which slightly reduces FTK potential, that card is fully unable to be used unless Dominus Emperor is using it).

Retard here,
Generally when you copy a spell there is text that says you may choose new targets for the copy. Sometimes that is in rules text (eg: Reverberate) and other times it is in reminder text for the ability or mechanic allowing you to create copies (eg: Grapeshot or Bitter Ordeal). Is choosing new targets for a copy of a spell inherent in the act of copying or does there need to be rules text saying as much? Are there any instances of a card letting you copy a spell WITHOUT selecting new targets?

Not presenting an argument (>>97817462) indicates unconditional surrender.
>>
>>97818216
Nta, but I've bought and played and enjoyed many different games with my group with no alteration. They were completely worth the money I spent on them. Therefore, your central argument (there are no games that have monetary worth) is completely subjective and inherently flawed.
>>
>>97818232
>makes anecdotal claims
>cries about others being subjective

So then, there's no solution when a TTRPG doesn't have what a group is looking for? That the only recourse is to give up on TTRPGs as a hobby?
>>
>>97818256
Your original claim was that rpg products hold no value. If you want to make your own game because your group cannot find one that suited them, whatever, I don't care. But that's a subjective statement (my group cannot find a game we like) and not an objective truth (rpg products have no monetary value.)

I kind of get what you are saying, but 5E does have rules, just not a lot. So its not chopping a tree to make a bed frame, its more like the wood is unpainted but the price being charged is for a fully prepared piece. You CAN have fun in 5E, just don't try to drown someone or explain why a giants rapier the size of a car does 1d6 damage.

Ignoring items and magic items and from memory (don't have my sheets on me right now), in 3.5/pf1e
Bonus to trip and grapple well above the barbarian's BAB+Raging Str
Whenever I tripped someone they provoked AoO twice
Whenever I grappled someone I could trip them for free
I had 6 AoOs
I had reach 10ft for AoOs
My speed was 135ft
I could jump clean 90+ft distance on a roll of 10 on the d20 and 20+ft high on the same roll

My only problem was damage, unarmed strikes can't compete with weapons (only add str once, count as 1handed for power attack and similar stuff, etc) so I couldn't help much to damage monsters with Damage Resistance (DR) of like 10, so my maneuvers were very useful

Now in 5e:
I moved like 50ft at the same level (so a loss of 85 to movement) my jump distance was 12ft (instead of 90) and like 5ft high (instead of 20) so my mobility and verticality was shit, even when wasting ki points every turn it meant nothing. In fact the barb moved 40ft I think and could jump more than me without spending resources because jump in 5e is solely dependant on your str score
I only had 1 AoO and no reach, and standing up doesn't provoke on 5e so it didn't synergize with trip

Welcome to /2eg/, a thread dedicated to all things 2nd Edition D&D related - including settings, lore, modules, and derived systems (Alternity, Buck Rogers XXVc, For Gold and Glory, Hackmaster, Myth and Magic, and more).

Since 2e draws heavily from earlier editions, older modules are welcome too. Other media derived from AD&D (such as Infinity Engine video games) also has a home here.

It's what you play, not how you play it. RAW or homebrew, as long as your table is having fun, there's no wrong way to play.

There's a surprisingly complete 2e fan wiki for rules stuff, it's excellent for quick reference:

There's small, distinct mechanical differences as well, gold for XP being the biggest and most important one.
Still, the difference in tone is enough to make it separate. Same way that, say, 3.5 and d20 modern are different games even if you could use them both in the same campaign.
>>
>>97816306
fishfag didn't actually make this thread. I was unironically asking why 2e seemed to get so much hate in the osr thread (granted i didn't have all the context). And i am happy with the answers im getting to the question and how calm the thread actually is. That boomer thread getting highjacked was sad
>>
>>97817919
>I was unironically asking why 2e seemed to get so much hate in the osr thread (granted i didn't have all the context).
I'm one of several Anons who post both here and on /osrg/ regularly.

If you're asking about the /osrg/ thread specifically, it's because we've had a troll infesting that general every single day for years, who uses 2e as an excuse to troll us. He's admitted several times that his actual reason is that he thinks all /osrg/ posters are alt-right. Years down the line, shitting on 2e has become a meme on /osrg/ to get that troll to shut up, but most people don't actually hate it, at least not as much as they say for the lulz.

>That boomer thread getting highjacked was sad
The same troll has recently started to create bait threads, and that "boomer thread" you just mentioned is one of the examples. He did it after the mods told him to leave /osrg/ alone on IRC, so he decided to start trolling /osrg/ "from the outside". Not sure what you mean by hijacking, given the goal of that thread was to flamebait /osrg/ posters: It's doing exactly what the troll meant it to do.

Now of course there's a couple regular posters on /osrg/ who actually do really dislike 2e, but as you can see even they don't generally go out of their way to shit this place up.

Now that I said this, you can expect a string of fishfag false flag attacks, which should be recognisable by the fact that he's literally retarded and unable to simulate the type of discussion non-subhumans have.
>>
>>97817919
>why 2e seemed to get so much hate in the osr thread (granted i didn't have all the context)
/osrg/ poster here, no one hates it, we hate fishfag, but 2e doesn't belong in /osrg/ for the same reason nWoD doesn't belong in the oWoD general.

Simple rule to improve and balance wizards in OSR games: they can only memorize one casting of a given spell per day. You have 3 third level slots? You can cast one Fireball, not 2 or 3. Don't know any other 3rd level spells? Better go find some spellbooks. Hope you make your % chance to learn spell rolls (I won't bother addressing faggots who let wizards automatically learn new spells). God forbid you have to get more creative with your casting.

>Now do the same in SW
>[epic clever battle sequence that lets them add up to kill the enemy golem]
I wish it worked that way, but unfortunately what happens instead is, someone with a hypertuned damage build rushes the golem in melee screaming and gets 5 aces and kills the golem with like 40 damage while the rest of the table laughs hysterically.
I really wish it worked like that though. I can't remember the last time my Savage Worlds group actually used the trick fighting or test of wills rules. All they do is Wild Attack because it's objectively the best option to get 2 bonuses for 1 downside and usually their Parry is so high that even if they do Wild Attack the penalty doesn't actually affect them.
>>
>>97818103
Well i do also think that the optional rule for wounds cap should not be "optional" but what you're describing is also hyperoptimized builds, no rulesystem holds well to the scrutiny of a buildfag, even supposed strict games like d&d 4e get trivialized that way.
>>
>>97797279

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games.

>The Power Nodes (The "Brain")
These are the figures who stabilize the chaos. Without them, the underworld collapses into a riot.

>The "Patron" Merchant
This person is the "Apex Consumer". They aren't "in" the underworld; they use it as a tool to bypass taxes or eliminate competition. They are portals to the legitimate world.

-The Tavern Keepers (The "Safe Harbor"):
A neutral tavern is the underworld’s version of a courthouse or a bank. The Keeper is the arbiter of "local law."

-Grey Arbiters (Informal)
These are rare, retired master-thieves or respected elders who settle disputes between rival gangs to prevent "Heat".

-The Corrupt Bureaucrat (The "Bridge"):

The Fence is the only person who can turn a "liability" (stolen goods) into an "asset" (spendable cash). They take the highest risk by holding the physical evidence, which is why they usually take 70–80% of the profit.

BONUS:

The Tax Man (The Protection Racket). Even the underworld has taxes. If you operate in a certain district, you pay the local "Power Node" for the privilege of not being robbed by other criminals. This "Internal Tax" is what funds the "Social Services" (the healers and the bribes for the bureaucrats)

To better explain what I'm trying to go for. I wanted to create a series of spell like abilities that represent the schools of magic that can later be upgraded and modified by things like the subclass you choose or other class features I haven't figure out yet.

Stealing from Warlock, a basic blasting spell like Eldritch blast would become the basic representation for the evocation school, generating a shield would be abjuration, arcane senses for divination, a version of presdigation/minor illusion for illusion, etc

It started as the northernmost Greek colony on the Italian mainland, and the Greeks didn't care about large navigable rivers near their settlements, they generally just wanted a sheltered port on the coast, some farmland and a few springs nearby, and would let the landlubbers do any of the possible overland trading. Shipping by sea, for example grain from Crimea to Athens or Corinthian pottery from the Greek mainland to Etruria, was cheap over massive distances.
The freshwater situation in Naples was so shitty the Greek colonists already in the 5th century BC constructed the 10 km long Bolla Aqueduct, partially running underground, to supply the city from a marshy aquifer area on the foothills of Mt Vesuvius. Sebeto was the only river of any importance flowing nearby.

Think I finally nailed my units of length
Base unit is a foot.
There are 5 feet in a standardized pace. 3 in a step. Used in the same context of yard. So something is such and such paces away. Or two paces long. etc.
The hole is 3 steps deep. The stone slid 4 steps to the left. etc.
Strides are 4000 feet. Based on the average distance someone can walk in the wilds in one hour. So its not uncommon phasing to describe directions as being a hours stride north west, or 2 and a half hours stride east.
It is around the middle distance between a mile and a kilometer and used in the setting's context in a similar way.
So a person used to miles can think of strides as similar to miles in their head. While someone used to kilometers will think of strides similar to kilometers.

Anything smaller I use comparisons or fractions rather than smaller standardized units.
I doubt I will meaningfully need larger units so those too can be handled with comparisons to get scale across.

Is there ANY miniature wargame that isn't insanely expensive? I'm talking about things you can buy in a box and play immediately, not "print your own minis" bullshit or things where you're forced to use proxies cause official models don't exist.

Because the rules in TW are virtually the same as in the Battletech Compendium. I do not trust Catalyst to not """"streamline""" the game for """modern audiences"""" and making it just Alpha Strike 2.

That was just our local ban evader nicedaemonette getting obliterated. The mods nuke him from orbit whenever they sniff him out, regardless of what he's talking about. IDK what he did but he has their eternal enmity.

They already summarized all of the changes and they're a lot less than what's been changed between Compendium and now. They didn't remove an entire phase of the game, for one.
Although honestly, I don't know anyone who is actually going to use this new core book thing since it only has the BSP rules for non-mechs. Everyone's going to wait for the actual full rules.

>Even bandai, who have the knowledge and skill on how to make posable gunpa kits decided to not do that for their own wargame.
To be fair to Bandai, Engineering possibility at that scale hits the limitations of materials engineering.
You'd be looking at a figure between a Mega Construct "Micro Action Figure" and a Dianaut, and five bucks per Dianaut is a deal these days.

>Now they are all copies of copies of copies.
Or have literally used the molds so much you can't make out the details.
