>>97830972Pretending to be an imbecile can only be fun for so long-- especially when the card is cut and dry an example of a card that has colored costs that affect its identity. All they had to do was say "A card with hybrid mana can be included in a deck by any commander whose color identity can cast and pay all the card's colored costs."Anyways we'll be back at this next year almost for sure so there's no sense tiring ourselves out before then.

Gearhead thread but for /tg/Part of why I like to play ttrpg's is the analog aspect. I prefer to keep all digital things out of the experience. No laptops, ipads, phones at the table. Well, an exception can be made for googling something quick, but other than that, keep that shit in your pocket.I like to do my gm prep, world building, drawing maps, in notebooks. npc and character sheets etc.on paper.I really like MUJI stationery. Their notebooks are really nice, and their pens and pencils are amazing.I recently found some hex paper notebooks on amazon. That was really nice to use to draw some hex maps.Do you have any neat stationery or other analog "gear" that you really like? Could you share some of your cool items or showcase your note taking system or maps or whatever?
>>97830295Aw, don't be bashful, anon. This is a safe space. What are you embarrassed about?
>>97829724One of my players do that. She use the same notebooks for all our latest sessions.
>>97823029>I'M NOT A PSYCHOPATH, PEOPLE ARE SIGNING UP ON WAITING LISTS TO BE FRIENDS WITH ME!Just stop anon.
>>97809050I don't really care if my players use apps/phones at the table, provided that they remain engaged with the game. If they're ready on their turn, and are actively participating, I don't care. For writing adventures, I have an Oxford college ruled notebook an Zebra Z-Grip ballpoint pens. There's something really nice about putting ink to paper.I still keep a MS Surface behind the screen to quickly look up rules though...
>>97809050I have come to preach the gospel of postcard paper! You can buy a hundred of them for some change. They're slightly thicker and less floppy than regular paper, and of a manageable size.I use whole-size for player abilities, half-sized for equipment, and quarter size for items and consumables.Players can just lay out everything they have at their disposal, flip equipment upside down when it's stowed, and toss consumables onto the table when they want to use them. They also make for good rooms in a point-crawl dungeon, and notes for dungeon specific information, which can all be stored together in a punched punched pocket.
Recently I found some Humanity Fuck Yeah YouTube videos that use AI voice narration on my feed. After using them as background noise while cleaning my apartment I found that that most of them are more or less the same. Humans are the only ones who know how to fight/love sex/survive/etc. How can we save the genre or reinvent it so it isn't so stale?
>>97830373>it would still makes humans pretty valuable when you need a bunch of engineers who can keep your poorly cooled engine going 'round the clockWhich is why you always send Jacob into the vents.
>>97830373>humans sweating making them uniquely suitedhumans aren't the only species that sweats
>>97830373>>97830587Seriously, a lot of stuff like the whole endurance/persistence hunting meme has the exact same energy as the guy who wrote the Yasuke book, it's a lot of nonsense or outright falsehood pushed by a handful of people and then parroted because it sounds good.
>>97830587>>97830637oh no I'm well aware that notably wolves and horses also sweat extensively, and as a result are exceedingly high endurance, and even that milk is in fact a modified form of sweat so we know being able to sweat it's ancestral to mammals also I'm entirely aware of how much a meme persistence hunting was, our endurance was not a sole factor, but it did let us pursue wounded prey for extended periods to make the true gamebreaker of ranged weapons even more busted that said full body perspiration is not common among non-mammalian vertebrates and even among modern mammals it's not a widely adopted strategy since extensive fur coverage does reduce how effective it can beAnd it keeps bearing in mind that even though we're far removed from it for a lot of people, humans biologically remain savanna specialists and thus being able to cross long distances while keeping your temperature under control is still something we would be better at than aliens evolved under widely different conditionsspeaking of unusual traits, there's a good chance aliens wouldn't have milk or equivalent to it, which in turn could be considered our "really weird" trait and without the specific context of nurturing and behavioral adaptations for it, us letting our babies feed from our bodies directly could easily be considered disgusting

>>97829897i didnt see these, thanks for bringing them to my attention; i'll get them now
>>97829391There's varying degrees of how combo oriented things are. The type of combo you are dealing with in the image you posted tends to end up more common in the lower ranks, as a bit of a quirk of the game. These decks are often "All or Nothing" where they either go off fully or can't go off at all. Handtraps kill them, but going second board wipes can have difficulty. Though if you do Crack their board, they often expended too much to rebuild a board. At higher ranks, you see this less often as while some can get very strong when uninterrupted, you can also break them more as they lean towards consistent rebuilding over X number of omni-negates.You can still get stuck with bad games, but the >>97829402 Ancient Gear list gets better there as it is more tuned to these higher levels.
My friends and some coworkers and getting the 2002 packs and doing a tourney. Everytime we do one we'll add a couple more packs. Gonna be a complete mess, I'm excited
>>97829391>where am i going wrong here, Lack of handtraps like you mentioned. It isn't mandatory to run them, but they are how you interact with your opponent when they go first. Only other way would be blowout going-second cards or kaijus/kaiju-likes (the Kaiju series, Lava Golem, Sphere Mode, etc).>are there no midrange and control decks like there are in magic?People typically combine Control(Control) with Stun(Stax) in this game. Purest Control decks would probably be Radiant Typhoon or Sky Striker. You could also run Runick as a Control deck if you forego the floodgates(stun cards). It's a true-blue control deck that exiles your opponent's deck when their effects resolve, where your win condition is to deck out your opponent or make them ragequit.>and is the entire main format meta really this insanely combo oriented?Slightly less than what you were playing against? That's a Stardust/Synchron deck at a glance, and that deck is characterized by its obnoxious combos. >it seems like even something simple like limiting special summons to 3 a turn would fix a lot of the issuesIt would actually make the game nigh-unplayable. Even a lot of weaker and casual decks need to special summon-- including Ancient Gear. Best options to counter that as of now are cards like Nibiru (tributes the entire field after their 5th summon) or Maxx "C"/Fuwalos (draw cards when your opponent special summons). The latter two are more common since there isn't really a context where you want your opponent to draw cards... save maybe for the matchup you were in, where they CAN summon enough to force you into deckout.Combo Decks are the devil. Decks that combo are not. Knowing is half the battle.

Pigheaded Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. >>97827264Race based slurs aren't really impactful or all that insulting/offensive in my setting. Like the Blooded might refer to "lesser" peoples as stock (as in livestock, you know, because they literally feed off them or use them for their utility). But people are generally more concerned with what the blooded do, not what they say. There are still stories from before the Apex was revived, when powerful blooded did whatever they pleased in their domain, including horrific fleshcrafting and unethical experimentation. So just being referred to with dehumanizing language is basically nothing. Fera will refer to humans as hairless or baldies, since fera are covered in body hair. But it's generally seen as a childish insult with no real impact or venom behind it.Lizardmen will occasionally call the other races apes, but again there is no bite behind it.People got more serious shit to deal with then fantasy racism. Hell, to the people in Centennial, comments about piss and shit are FAR more offensive to them.Meanwhile to the people of Soul, blasphemy in general and especially blasphemy against their main god Sol, are fighting words that will get you killed. They have zero tolerance for it.
>>97822512What kind of stories are you looking to tell or games you want to play?Let your narrative or design goals inform and influence your worldbuilding. For example the whole ecology of magic in my setting is designed from the ground up to be a ongoing conflict motivator that ties directly into why monster filled dungeons exist and are actually a good thing, as well as always giving a reason to go out into the dangerous wilds since it's highly lucrative to those who can consistently survive.
>>97784855>Do you use any lesser-known mythologies, histories, or regions as inspiration? If so, which ones, and what appeals to you about them?Hinduism. I love its pagan immorality because it's great fodder for dark fantasy.
The more I research, sociology, the more it seems like all puritan beliefs, sexism, radical ideas, racism, and wealth insecurity, and gilded attitudes, come from the upper middle classes. The "middle" is where the most intense social friction happens because that’s where people have the most to lose and the most to prove. Therefore, they must perform the most to pretend that they are rich, more moral, more upright, etc than the actual upper classes and lower classes. Everything from the cult of domesticity, to sexism, to everything seems to come from them or is more zealous about them than anyone else.Because the middle and upper-middle classes lack the inherited "old money" security of the elite and the "nothing to lose" grit of the working class, they are trapped in a constant, high-stakes performance of respectability. The lower and upper classes don’t have to "perform" because their status is assumed. They can be eccentric or messy because their bank account provides the safety net or their behaviours can justified as "base" and rough due destitution. To maintain their position, the middle-class must constantly signal that they are "better" than the class below them. This leads to Hyper-Conformity: following rules (like the Cult of Domesticity or rigid gender roles) even more strictly than the elites do, just to prove they belong. To keep this status, the middle class became the primary "moral police" of society. They created the "right" way to raise children, the "right" way to eat, and the "right" way to behave, often looking down on the lower classes for being "unrefined" and the upper classes for being "decadent."Because the upper-middle class often manages the institutions of society (education, HR, media), they are the ones who codify what "good" looks like. If they can define morality in a way that requires expensive education or specific "refined" tastes, they effectively gatekeep the upper echelons of society from everyone else.
>>97830897This is just basic Marxism.
