I'm trying to.
Carrot in theory has a pretty good matchup against Penel, but they gave him this really dumb combo here where he can do Lightning Kitten to -1k my freeze Carrots, then Mamaragan to rest her and then crash into her with the 10k Enels, or Lightning Dragon so she can't attack/freeze anything next turn.
I really don't understand what they were thinking with him, his deck can do everything.

I've already typed this up three times because of some stupid state-wide IP ban, so here goes.

Inspired by MahoAko and a magical girl webnovel that got haiatus'd. It's meant to be easy to pick up and play with simple to make characters. Simple d6 dice pool system in order to reach the most people. Combat is the only system module I'm having issues with, because I don't want it to be too easy or take too long.

A few systems are in place to represent the more common things you'd find with magical girls. An Identity system gives you benefits for portraying your character's personality. A Bond system is in for Power of Friendship. Magic is supposed to be easy to set up and varied enough to keep things interesting. There's also a corruption system that trades power for an eventual Bad End.

At the moment the system is abstracted enough that you could potentially refluff everything as a superhero or toku setting. An update I have in mind will change this, but will hopefully make some of the systems and rules mesh a bit better.

What it needs right now is playtesters that can tell me what works, what doesn't, and what needs changing.

How would you classify/stat a wide variety of senses?
Like, obviously we all know what seeing or hearing allows us to perceive or not. We also have a rough idea of what the sense of smell of a dog allows it to do.
But what about the Vomeronasal organ of a snake, for example? Or the vibration senses of a spider?
This is a very concrete problem for me, because my game is centred around playing a wide variety of different animal species, so if a player has a shark-like character, I need a simple way to sum up what... say... electroreception allows him to perceive and not perceive and how to roll for it.
Here are the two approaches I can think of
Option 1: Full-blown effect-based classification

>Does it require the target to be there, or just to have passed by?

Describing what it detects, how it detects, and a special function is better than over complicating it.

For example
Sonar detects matter clearly at 30m. It uses sound/vibration to do so.

Detects [sensed variable] clearly at [average distance where it can clearly distinguish a human-sized object without
Fail] using [detection method/medium].

You can also add a special disclaimer like for example infrared can detect footsteps if a short time passed

Found myself a nice local group and I'm thinking up some oneshot ideas to ease people into the system.

I kinda want to run a pulpy weird war game with the players as commandos trying to stop a super evil nazi train or something. I think it could be cinematic and zany enough to help sell the ruleset and the dice. An alternative would be to raid an olde pyramid that nazi occultists are looting, Indiana Jones style.

Or a safe bet would be a Shadow of the Beanstalk oneshot, a daring heist on a head office or something.

I'm a bit concerned about the timing, as it's in a public venue so the max session time is 3 hours. When I run a game at my house, the game takes as long as it takes because we'll pick it up next week. With a one-shot, there's no guarantee of that.

A three hour one-shot means you'll need something snappy, yeah. If you're going to show off the whole system, you'll need a simple introduction, a general skill encounter, a social encounter (maybe to get some intel), and a combat encounter to round things out.

Since you're on a Weird War kick, let's do some Weird War II stuff. The party are Allied commandoes who are currently in contact with the French resistance. A Nazi occultist squad has appeared in Paris and have since disappeared into the infamous catacombs beneath the city. Whatever they're up to down there can't be good, so get down there and root them out. This scenario gives you a good old-fashioned dungeon crawl but with a lot of extra WW2 pulp flavor to it and plenty of room to fill things in around the climactic raid on the catacombs.

Most "people" are low iq retarded apes. They are physically unable to imagine perspectives outside of their own. Worse than that, they are physically unable to engage in hypotheticals, i.e. fantasy.

Thus, the imperiumtard is born. The imperiumtard believes himself to be a "good guy". Again, since he is unable to understand hypotheticals, he takes them literally. It's a good program but everything it does can be easily substituted with alternative software. Mainly I avoid it because I don't like the idea of having all my content being locked behind a subscription that I'm forced to keep paying for to maintain access.

Personally I like Chronicler (free) for doing wiki stuff and Wonderdraft (paid but no subscription, easily pirateable) for mapping.

Handguns were not exactly decisive in this conflict and the "mounted infantry" fighting style of men at arms began in the HYW. I also note you don't suggest a rules set.

Re Bolt Action, I've always found lardies rules very stop start, lots of digression posed as granularity but the ranges of BA and the price overhead are great in 20mm.

The worst thing about the introduction of trait piles is that it's borderline impossible to get excited for upcoming releases as the vast majority of the sets are now either the seasonal trait pile or appmon. If you're lucky, you get some crumbs for an older deck.
