Been thinking a lot about this

>So the warp, as the realm of souls, originally was a creation of the old ones as a weapon against the necrontyr in the war of heaven. It allowed not only a means for the Aeldari and Krorks to use psychic powers, but also cheat death and allow them to respawn infinitely.
>But after the war in heaven the warp is destabilized due to the negative emotions, death, and general usage. There's no more old ones to fix it either.
>Now the "warp" sends those same negative emotions at the Aeldari who in turn start going crazy. They start doing their murder orgies, but it's not really fair to blame them as they are influenced by the warp. The same thing is known to happen to human psykers as well. The warp make psykers, especially untrained ones, crazy and emotional. In long terms it uses them to gain more power and access to realspace. REMEMBER THIS.
>This creates a feedback loop where the the negative emotions make the mortals crazy and in turn have the negative emotions to fuel the warp. Ultimately resulting in slaanesh. khorne nurgle and tzeentch are likely started in the war in heaven, but finished during humanity's early era when human psykers start showing up.

Chaos and the heresy weren't even a part of the game when the emperor's goal was to guide human evolution, there were just the enslavers. At any rate I think you're trying to overly analyze a setting that doesn't make sense and also you should delete this post and post it in /40kg/.

>Chaos and the heresy weren't even a part of the game when the emperor's goal was to guide human evolution

Bullshit. Chaos was there before the Emperor was even born. Emps talked with the the four for the primarch project, he frequently used warp based powers, he had contact with Eldrad and other Aeldari. Lets not forget about the shitty low hanging fruit that is
>De EmPeRoR kNeW dE hErAsY wAs GoNnA hApPeN!

The threat was always there. Emps had the resources to stop it. He chose not to. If he wants to pretend nothing bad is gonna happen fine, but he shouldn't be surprised when the threat he's supposed to be fighting and ignored comes back with a steel chair.

Holy nostalgiabait.

TCW was largely an attempt to unfuck the epic plotholes that gaped between AotC and RotS.
It may have succeeded to a degree, but if it take half a decade of cartoons to unfuck the movies then maybe, just maybe, the movies had a slight problem with their plot, focus and pacing.

And that is exactly what the PT had. AotC wasted roughly half the screentime on utterly irrelevant shit had awful acting and even worse dialogue.
TPM was even worse with the waste of focus and time.

>AotC wasted roughly half the screentime on utterly irrelevant shit had awful acting and even worse dialogue
Like? I've already covered the dialogue before but pretty much everything in AotC is essential. What else is there that is superfluous and irrelevant exactly?

I really love hex tile games so I made one where cities are dice (to represent the size) and you draw tiles from a random bag like Carcassonne and place them according to rules (like you have to contribute to existing forests or mountain ranges on the edge until they're a certain size, before you can start a new one).

The game was very visually and tactilely satisfying to me, which is important since it's being played in the physical realm. But the girls, as you can see, are a bit small. So I bought new ones.

I haven't painted them yet but I am hoping to add some numbers to them, almost like Catan has.

So therein lies my question (and I know I'm leaving a lot of details out, this game is very different from Catan, but it's basically a 4x tabletop hex tile game). My question being:

Do people actually like rolling dice in Catan? I think in Catan it's a very elegant way of adding depth to the game.

Currently in my game, you roll 1d6 per population of a city, and for each 5 you roll you can get a resource of the tile your city's on, and for each 6 you can get that or an adjacent resource. But that leads to a lot of dice rolling. By the end game you might be rolling 10 pools of dice each with 6 dice, and making decisions along the way.

So obviously I want to simplify it.

But the question is, do people even like the dice rolling in Catan? Or would they rather the randomness be removed from it?

Java's randomization is from tile draw. Its been at leas t2 decades since I've played it so the standout mechanics are not going to be there.
Check out Cascadia for sure if you see a copy, its a solid game.
>>
>>97829096
>Java's randomization is from tile draw.
Do you think that's enough by itself as a random element for a game?
Or I guess I would say, do you think that as a substitute for the random resources of Catan is good?
Or would two "axis" of randomness be an improvement?
>>
>>97831462
>Do you think that's enough by itself as a random element for a game?
Generally yes.
I prefer board games with some but limited randomization. 2 variables is okay, anything after that makes it janky enough its less interesting to plan imo. But there's going to be some variance in that, might not hurt to ask /awg/.

I'm really curious how you guys are incapable of parsing his post.
It made perfect sense to me, he's talking about a game he is making that is similar to Catan, is using mechanics from catan, but that they have quickly bloated, and is interested in knowing if players actually enjoy ruling big pools of dice multiple times over.

I strongly suspect you are reading skills are not potent.

Repeat after me: MAKE. YOUR. POTIONS. IN. PILL. FORME!

Pills are ancient, they predate Egypt! We made pills better in medieval Europe by putting them inside purified nontoxic silver to boost power, we don't do that anymore because it's too expensive.

Whole reason why we take pills and don't drink medicine is because any medicine is just 0.1% active ingredients, putting it inside a pill is more efficient, making it a drink is wasteful.

Realistically in DND, if potions were real, they'd kill adventurers, all over the Adventures Guild you'd see newspapers like:
>SSS-rank barbarian killed in the Dungeon because drinking healpot takes too long!
>LVL 99 thief killed in the Dungeon because he choked on manapot... it went down the wrong hole!
>The Hero killed in the Dungeon because he tripped down stairs and broke all pots!

Potions? Not even once! Pills are the right way.

>what about DC casters, do they get a debuff while 0hp?
No, I semi-intentionally omitted it but I guess it would be easy enough to have all saves against effects from them while at 0 HP be rolled with advantage. Speaking of extra exceptions I use, the disadvantage from being at 0 HP doesn't disqualify from sneak attacks.
Anyhow, you could probably even drop the whole debuff at 0 hp thing anyway, as the genuine threat of dying makes the players prefer to avoid the state anyway.
>and do you still roll normal death saves every turn?
Nope. Again, it could be an interesting optional rule though to make them avoid staying at 0 HP. But it would clash with some of the magic items I've introduced, which interact with the death's door state (being at 0 HP), for example giving extra AC at death's door or flipping the debuff, so that staying at 0 HP actually gives you advantage on attacks.

This is probably old news at this point, but I did the math on the rule concerning 50 ten-foot cubes for the spell Mordenkainen's Magnificient Mansion and found that the first three floors (with the spiral staircase) of Death House total 49.5 such cubes. Doesn't that sound a bit crowded for 100 servants?

Also, what would you use this spell for if you could cast it once every day in real life?

I get it that it can seem like the slop machines are taking over, but they can only do derivative, repetitive stuff with small variations and only after a lot of trial and error. An actual person will always do it better, but it will take a while to get there, and the long road of learning can be disheartening, but it is also fun and fulfilling. You can also combine your skills with the slop. It produces the best results.

I was going to use the fictional religion of the story 'stranger in a strange land' called 'The Church of all worlds' and their thing with psychic powers. But I found out that psychics are illegal in the Island setting of the game.

So is there any other fictional religion with an air of legitimacy or at least some sort of supernatural powers?
>>
Does it have to be based on a real religion? You can use whatever as a basis to justify powers, from eastern cultivation to 1984 party powers that actually work.

btw forgot to put it in the lst patch note but Cosmetic Improvement costs an extra 1 Beri if you take the Love-Love fruit.
>>
>>97836230
Yeah I noticed and I think it's pretty fair, the Love-Love is pretty much only as strong as it is because the user has the equivalent of that perk. Makes it cost as much as a Great without actually putting it in Great if you want that sort of potency.
>>
>>97836248
imo the Love-Love Fruit is a great fruit (you can still turn stuff to stone on contact and shoot arrows that can also do that regardless of the attraction). I think that the Love-Love fruit with Cosmetic Improvement is an Amazing-tier fruit.
>>
>turn anything to stone on contact or with arrows
>instant kill beam
it's great, and any argument to the contrary is disregarded
the cosmetic nerf needs to be removed though, it makes no sense seeing how literally nothing else has that drawback
>>
>>97836269
>>97836304
Yeah my bad, I mentally swapped the tiers around and thought Great was the highest because how focused I was discussing those tiers earlier. I do agree it's a Great, and my sentiment should've stated that its fair for Cosmetic Improvement to make it cost as much as an Amazing considering how much of a bonus you'll be getting out of it and I'd say it would firmly place it on par with the other fruits there.

How should Wizards fix and improve Birthright rules, so it wouldn't be a total ass to GM?

Given that anime and anime inspired cartoon styles have become pretty much the norm or at least incredibly common in most other forms of indie entertainment (TTRPGs, videogames, comics, animation, even miniature wargames). How comes it remains a relatively rare style to find in board games, an industry that operates almost entirely in the form of independent creators and small studios? How comes it still carries associations of being an art-style of games "for kids"?

It was so strange when pic related came out seeing people "warning" others that even tho "it looks like a game for kids, it's actually quite difficult and heavy".

To be fair UNO and Monopoly are not what I'd call "hobbyist games". They're incredibly mainstream popular products that essentially exist in their own bubble and respond to completely different markets and pressures, Hasbro would never consider publishing something like Sweet Lands because it caters to a completely different demographic than their games.

Easily re-skinnable hobbyist games would be things like, idk, Love Letter I guess, tho that's a pretty simple game and it has technically gotten its fair share of licensed re-skins, none based on anime AFAIK.
>>
>>97826974
>Given that anime and anime inspired cartoon styles have become pretty much the norm or at least incredibly common in most other forms of indie entertainment
I think one contributing factor to why this is so is because anime is just entertaining so naturally people want a slice of the anime pie to try and mimic it's aesthetics to get sales and support.

But maybe one reason it isn't very common in board games is due to not wanting to be go with what is more popular and try to stand out as anime might be too mainstream now?
Just guessing.
>>
>>97827637
Even Transformers tackled that stuff when the studio censors allowed it to. Showing the violence in the form of giant robots blowing up allows you to get away with themes for younger audiences that would be frowned on if you depicted soldiers realistically killing each other, like in LotGH.
