Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games. Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!Last thread: >>97665641Resources for Newfags: https://sites.google.com/view/wbgeneral/Worldbuilding links: pastee.dev/p/sp2Mdb5Ihttps://cryptpad.fr/pad/#/2/pad/view/Eo+fK41FKVR7xDpbNO0a0N4k0YYxrmyrhX3VxnM14Ew/Fantasy map generator: https://watabou.itch.io/medieval-fantasy-city-generator/wbi/: https://discord.gg/6ZjEc7dy4TWorldbuilding Hub: https://discord.com/invite/wGjxK3YThe Writer's Forge: https://discord.com/invite/CUxHxWqTira: https://discord.com/invite/f52W6KgDawn of Victory: https://discord.gg/hUAynC3wConlangerama: https://discord.com/invite/ceKjZBr2jCComment too long. >>97832365The Nemerii were a pastoral herding culture that occupied the central plains and forests south of the great desert, they are the most practical and grounded of their dark elven brethren. To the main adherents of their people a life not in the saddle on the backs of their Thurael birds is a life not worth living, this naturally puts them at odds with their more civilised neighbours and the settled and coastal Nemerii that are much more influenced by the Lacusii's Tollure(empire) and the theocratic Ignarii states. They are prized as messengers and guides through the continental interior, their skill at riding is largely unmatched until the arrival of the humans during their long decline. Even before the arrival of the humans they were a declining culture due to constant warfare with the Malorii tribes that plagued the continent. The plains Nemerii are largely extinct as a culture in the present day and the settled and coastal Nemerii are much more assimilated into the surrounding Lacusii and Ignarii. They would also influence the Oskun human peoples and heavily imprint the Tirnaeth with their language and culture. Their unique breeds of thurael riding birds are still the most prestigious today, fast and versatile but not strong enough to stand up to horse cavalry.

Behold! It is I! The sole Star Wars Unlimited player on /acg/!
Is union arena fun to play? I like the idea of pitting anime vs anime like a shonen arena fighter, and somebody at the shop told me Evangelion was a pretty good set so I was thinking about giving it a shot.
I never realized how many players suffer from aphantasia and insist on using miniatures. Are you one of them, or do you embrace the unmatchable graphics of theater of the mind?
>we just need them to keep track of positioning!yeah, right. it always starts with just a few unpainted minis and a basic dry erase mat for "spatial awareness", and the next thing you know, the roleplay is completely dead, the story has ground to a halt, and you're spending three hours playing some tactical measure-your-fucking-cone silliness.miniatures are just a gateway drug to full-blown grid-shittery. play theater of the mind or go play wh40k.
>>97833410Document how theater of the mind players actually play. Take notes or record the session. And then read/listen back to it when you're not in the moment.
>>97833414Every single edition of D&D is correctly played on a grid. This isn't because of superiority of theater of the mind. This is because of the specifics of the D&D rules set, which is built around grid-based movement.
>>97834274>PLEASE ANON PLEASE>PLEASE DON'T KEEP TRACK OF WHERE MY CHARACTER IS>PLEASE I NEED TO BE ABLE TO CHEAT IN COMBAT>MY WIZARD NEEDS TO SIMULTANEOUSLY BE IN TOUCH RANGE BUT ALSO TEN FEET BEHIND THE FIGHTER BASED ON WHAT'S CONVENIENT FOR ME>B-but cones anonI can visualize what 15 foot cone looks like on a grid. Same for a 25, 30 and so on. Only an aphantasiac would struggle with not being able to visualize boxes on a grid.
>>97831518I have hyperphantasia, but still enjoy using minis and terrainThey are fun to paint and it makes things easier for the players

>>97832722While most of the details are in the document, the main thing is that peeps will be part of a team consisting of T'au, Drukhari, Kroot, and Sslyth player characters, working for a criminal syndicate that focuses on profit above all, and is trying to take and hold territory for the second time in its existence (the first time didn't work out too well). Special Forces in that you're an elite member of the syndicate's enforcer / mercenary division, performing top secret missions for the leadership to secure territory, get paid, and make a name for yourselves. There's something big out there to find, are you badass enough to charge in guns blazing? In your downtime, you can spread the syndicate's corruption through the galaxy. This isn't Chaos corruption in the spiritual sense, but things like Intimidation, Piracy, Kidnapping, Racketeering, Bribery, Militia Manipulation, Black Marketing, and Slavery operations through ground, space, and mass combat operations. You can also join the fight to secure territory in Commorragh, for more bonuses and plunder. You have an entire sector to exploit. Or you could just go fishing. I won't judge.I expect it to be a shorter game, dependent on how many missions peeps want to undertake. While the main objective from my perspective is to test out a bunch of the new careers I made, I do want peeps to have fun akin to Scarface meets James Bond with near limitless options. And for other peeps, recruitment is still open. There's still plenty of space for peeps. You can find all the info in:https://mega.nz/file/ouBF2LLB#tFmXpsdvKA3M6c_aopuJC8Wj1zu_IIDc_5S6rK_Va5A

Had a question as a beginner. Are there good youtubers (or books/text-based sources) that cover their thought process for chess games in minute detail, turn-by-turn? I know of Chess Vibes so I guess I'm looking for some more in that vein that go from first turn to last talking about their options and how they're approaching everything. Thanks.

Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.If you're wondering where to start:- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen.
