None of the tribes are playable except Elves if the pool isn't split, and a few others (Goblins, Kithkin) only with absolute nut drafts.
Every game is generic. They play thing, you play thing. You remove thing, they remove thing. Someone plays the bomb they cracked and wins. The first player to secure tempo wins almost 100% of the time. There are no archetypes, every deck just devolves into goodstuff slop vs goodstuff slop but in different colors.
I did not see even a single interesting thing happen, or have to make even one difficult decision, the entire time playing,
Though most limited format succumb to that kind of gameplay to a degree, ECL is the worst case of it ever, by far.

I might have to put it in the bottom 5 worst draft formats ever, just on the merits of how boring and bland it is. That would be, from best to worst,

1. ECL
2. MKM
3. DFT
4. IKO
5. Coldsnap

Update, you were right, we played two games and the kommandos completely obliterated the kasrkins. 10 to 5 et 12 to 3 VPs. I couldn't even contest the objectifs long enough to claim points from the martyr tac op.

I had to put my kasrkins in awkward positions in engage order to try and shoot some of the orks that came dangerously close in concealment, and next TP the Snipboy, Rokkitboy and Dakkaboy have a field day. But I also was really out of luck, last game the plasma gunner missed all his shots two times and I had a few really bad save rolls

I don't wish to start bullshit, but this is the place to ask:
Is it easier to make a Captain America expy (hand to hand, uses shield offensively and defensively) of at level effectiveness (ie not hyper optimized ubercharger but serviceable in a group) in 3.5, or easier in PF1e?
I am not against initiator classes, but I would rather not run to them at first, viewing them as a crutch at times.
>>
>>97408218
I made a character in that vein in 3.5 a decade ago. Paladin/Fighter, worked decently well. Improved shield bash, shield charge, shield slam, dire charge. Weapon was a spiked shield, didn't last long enough to make it Returning so I could start throwing it.

Main issue you run into is getting feat starved, same as any character gimmick.

Sure thing, it was initially planned to be short but the Edge of the Empire Obligation system proved otherwise
>Initial Premise
The party has had a personal vendetta against the Pykes for a long time. A capo runs Tarlana Tower, a massive city-within-a-city in the Corporate Sector. Infiltrate the tower, cause chaos and kill the Capo. The party's corporate ally would spin it as "gang on gang violence" and use it to ban the Pykes from the CSA
>First Challenge: Gain Entry Credentials
Pyke affiliated mercenaries frequent the Nexus Nightclub, get those credentials!
<Obligation roll> Party leader has to kidnap a mysterious scientist also at this club for his separatist enclave.
Group manages to steal the keycard and kidnap the scientist, but a string of bad rolls caused a three way firefight in the club that left it in flames.
>Second Challenge: Make it to the top of the tower
The place is a total maze with four distinct "levels". The first is a massive undercity, the second a more refined middle class area, the third an industrial district, the fourth the Pyke holding. Party split up, half went to make allies with local gangsters on level 1, the second went to recon level 2.
<Obligation roll> Clone trooper's obsession with Order 66 and Republic Remnants. A rogue Jedi was spotted bombing a corporate office and fled to the tower!
The party got some gangsters on their side, but the recon team got jedi mind tricked into serving the Jedi as both enforcers and hostages (pic related). Huge inter party combat with dozens of gangsters, hired guns and Jedi cultists fighting each other. A long running party NPC dies in the combat, but the party manages to reunify. They lick their wounds and go to hunt down the jedi
>The Dark Jedi
Guy is totally nuts after Order 66 and is holding the entire tower hostage with some well placed explosives. He wants all authorities off his back. The crew wants revenge, so they placate him for a while before they defuse all the bombs.
Until...

<Obligation roll> The party's politico's past crime family has returned as allies to the Pykes! The group again splits apart, the droids and force sensitive stay behind with the Jedi while the weak minded go to deal with the family. In a bizarre twist of events (and fantastic rolls) the Politico convinces the head of the family (his ex-wife) to step down and live free. The rest of the family doesn't like that and takes them both hostage. However the group convinced the Jedi to help them in exchange for the force sensitive-
<Obligation roll> The sentient droid commander has gone schizo and tries killing the Jedi immediately. Leads to a small confrontation where the group works with the Jedi to take down the commander. They manage to fix relations and get things back on track
They slaughter the family enforcers and double cross the Jedi just as enemy reinforcements arrive. It's a crazy battle and many are close to death, but they get away to once again lick their wounds.
>Third Challenge: Clear the Industrial District
Also the security hub of the tower, there are many Pykes here and the crew are low on NPC allies.
<Obligation roll> One of the sentient droids is being hunted by the ISB to maintain "Organic Security" over droid sentience. He avoids a honeypot operation and the group manage to kill the Pykes in a series of ambushes and disable the Tower's reactor.
>Final Challenge: The final floor
They ambush the disorganized Pyke resistance (which included a tank) and make their way through the absolute chaos before finding the Pyke Capo. They execute her in a classic gunline, steal her stuff and get away before Corporate Security can tie anything to them.

Wow, so in trying to please all the 'tards, they bricked the Psychic. The full class, just smashed beyond belief. Made sure to put up a brick wall to Magi having anything nice to compensate for being stuck with there own shit. I don't even wanna see what they may have done with the Thaumaturge
>>
>>97408258
Wand damage and Chalice healing got buffed.
Mirror explosion is now optional.
Paired link feats now work regardless of the distance (except for anchoring spells, that still has 30ft range).
That's it.
>>
>>97408258
they actually gave Thaumaturge a healthy amount of buffs.

>>97408008
>>97408008
Because they are SPELLS, not psionics. They are pretty consistent that Psychics are more like Wizards or Oracles, people that dabble and investigate a particular niche in spell design. They actually do have a buff in that you don't need to speak to cast spells so being Silenced or Deafened can't hurt you. But you still are doing all the other casting requirements, including gestures.

Plus given how squishy Psychics already are, I don't really know how much removing the Manipulate tag would be a buff. Yeah, getting to hit a dragon with Imaginary Weapon for free is nice, but I rather not being in range of a dragon if I can help it...
(related note: The Professor Xavier deal of being a scrying expert, Infinite Eye, all their spells already lack the Manipulate trait AND are one action ANNND no one cares because its support not ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK)
>>
>>97408357
If they already can circumvent one of the old components, why not the other? "It's not psionics" isn't a real argument since they already modified the spellcasting, just in a half-assed way.
It's baffling because as you pointed out it wouldn't be a substantial buff, so there's no reason NOT to enhance the class fantasy like that.

It dawned on me while I was speaking to my wife that the stereotypical murderhobo adventurers of D&D are like fantasy warrior gig workers. With that in mind, what would it take for an enterprising wizard (or group thereof) to come up with the fantasy warrior equivalent of something like Fiverr? You have a murderhobo related task you need done, you relay it to the system/spell/network, "Goblins stole my things, willing to pay ___ for their return", the system searches for the nearest registered murderhobos with relevant skills and offers them the job in return for a cut?
>>
>>97408403
>Goblins stole my things, willing to pay ___ for their return"
That's just beginning adventure.
Dunno what your idea changes for the game, you're just swapping wuest-giving NPC's line from "thank the gods, I've found brave adventurers like you!", to "thank the gods someone read my post in Spell it!"
>>
>>97408439
The idea is to have the wizard employ the characters to help them set up the system so he can get rich off of it.

Setting dependent. In my setting they're basically religious fundamentalists, but are willing to join other civilizations if they see a benefit for themselves. In some settings they're unnatural or demonic, in some settings they're just native populations, and there are other answers.

Yes! In fact, depending on the version of 5e its quite good.

In 2014 5e, Ranged Weapons in general are the best weapons in the game due to the power of the Archery Fighting Style, the Sharpshooter Feat, and Extra Attack. Great damage, high range, ignoring cover (Which 99.9% of creatures cannot do), the range allows you to usually maneuver around the battlefield to take advantage of cover and hazards to trick up your opponents. Battle Masters in particular are really good for this style of play due to them having combat maneuvers like Precision Attack (Which you can use after rolling to boost your to hit roll), Menacing Attack (Long Range Frighten for movement shut down and disadvantage on their attacks), Trip Attack (To trip foes), Pushing Attack (Push foes into hazards or away from allies or off cliffs), and other nice options to go with it!

2024 5e is a little different due to Sharpshooter not giving the big damage bonus it had in 2014, but it's still solid due to Longbows having the Heavy Property allowing you to get the Great Weapon Master feat- it just requires a wider stat spread than it used to. Hypothetically, you could get Sharpshooter, Great Weapon Master, and still max out your Dexterity all by level 8 as a Fighter, which means you'll still be doing solid enough damage without the loss to accuracy that 2014 Longbow users were dealing with. Battle Masters are more or less the same, though at higher levels they get a great buff with Relentless and can be even more mobile than they were before.

D&D 24 MM art has almost only good designs and PHB had some really nice artworks.

5e was a lowpoint but the new art is qualitatively better, some fags just don't like what's being depicted and then claim the way it is depicted is also bad (inability to discern the actual craft from the content of the work)
>>
I feel like today's artists no longer have any knowledge about color theory and can no longer depict lighting in a realistic or interesting way.

I draw a bit myself and I think Digital tools are absolutely incredible for creation but I feel that something was lost when we no longer had to mix paint ourselves. The guys that started on traditional media and later moved to digital, usually get better results then the ones who mainly grew up with a tablet in their hands.

I am also certain that before, the artists were more aware of the painters and grand masters of the past.

Did you know that in 1999 Dan Abnett did a comic that was basically a wholesale rip-off of 40k except the main character was this vampire lady that he had all the other characters constantly talk about how sexy she was.

It had a feudal space Catholic empire that oppressed mutants, and even had elite warriors with implanted organs and cybernetics using weapons called bolters. Later Dan Abnett had the MC tame a bolter warrior with her vampire pussy.

Abnett also wrote some Judge Dredd comics for AD2000 that were very obviously just 40k stories with some names changed (40k and Dredd already share a lot of DNA, but when you go from the normal Dredd plotlines to not!Space Marines fighting rebellious colonists in space it's pretty obvious the whole thing started as a rejected 40k comic plot).

Now scale that up for the space age....
>Space Colonies can have millions of inhabitants.
>They typically last centuries.
>They represent the hopes and dreams of an entire new human race

Yeah, Space Colonies have evolved their own spirits that can influence material reality. Best case scenario, they can actually help defend the colony from dangerous accidents and outside attack.

>Well, Harry Potter used them as mere animals abused to guard treasures for wizards or goblins
NTA, but they were also essentially treated like cattle, being allowed to live only in specifically designated dragon reserves where they are regularly harvested for parts.
Dragons are used for everywhere in the wizarding world like
>their heart strings are one of the most common and powerful cores for wands
>their hide is has magic resistant properties and is used for fancy clothing like jackets and boots and the like, but also for protective equipment like gloves all children are exppected to wear for potion class.
>their blood has a dozen known uses ranging from being a useful potion ingredient to being used as spot remover and oven cleaner.
>their meat is put on wounds to help treat the pain, also occasionally prepared and eaten like DragonTartare
>they produce milk that is used for cheese making
>powered dragon claw is snorted by students before exams as it supposdely helps the brain focus. Its also used in potions
>their dung is used as fertilizer for magical herbs
>their horns were also powdered and used in potions.
>their livers and eggs were used in potions too
Personally I really like this as Dragons in setting are not really any less dangerous than you expect dragons to be, but they've become the equivalent of powerful animals in the real world where we have to go out of our way to not hunt them to extinction, only difference is their parts also useful beyond just status symbol.

As I said, abused animals. HP is an anthrocentric setting where humans are the center of creation.

>The real resources aren't in planets, they're in asteroids.
It will literally never be cheaper to mine asteroids than to refine an element from resources on earth.

I don't have planet-mania. I know how much space travel costs. Even if we had theoretical megastructures that make launching and landing cheaper, it would still not be more cost effective to fetch asteroids than to refine shit on earth.

To use a comparison, it would be like harvesting icebergs for fresh water instead of using desalination. Technically possible but dumb as fuck.

It’s interesting how rape is seen as edgier than murder. Must have something to do with the humiliation factor.

there's no reason to believe either of those wasn't Homelander though

>muh racist magic armors
>muh bad simulationist rules for rape
not really

It wasn't always the case. Rape literally just means theft, which should tell you exactly what it used to be seem as. It's probably just because of misandrist feminism: statistically speaking, murder is a crime against men, rape is a crime against women.
