I mean it's a perfect game and easily modifiedable. Why should i learn an entirely new system when this stuff just works. what makes it worthwhile to play another game? If there any recommendations, feel free to tell me what's a good game. >d20 system. literally the perfect mechanics>want to do scifi? change the melee weapons to lightsabers etc.>want do do horror? curse of stradh is already there. just copy the vibes>like 5e is insanely hombrewable and easy to play
>>97454943>OP who on Saturday was suggesting that nobody ought to play another game than 5e (their favourite game) went the next day to play DCC despite his late night Post supporting 5e and has now done a complete 180.
We are using the quick start rules
>>97432489current state of the game is shit, but 5e in itself is not a bad system, just needs to be polished. it heavyly rely on homebrew/community stuff to have good and more content but also that's it main strenght. there's so many players and so much content about it, so many groups available and willing to teach each other how to play, one can learn to play by social osmosis, but it's not even near to being one of the easiest games and it's also one of the most expensive if you want to DM and have an experience above "whiteboard marker on a grided plastic sheet and paper minis"
>>97455210We are trying dcc. Let see how it goes down the line
>>97455221Or you could just use 5e?
Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games. Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!Last thread: >>97311994Resources for Newfags: https://sites.google.com/view/wbgeneral/Worldbuilding links: https://pastebin.com/JNnj79S5 https://cryptpad.fr/pad/#/2/pad/view/Eo+fK41FKVR7xDpbNO0a0N4k0YYxrmyrhX3VxnM14Ew/Fantasy map generator: https://watabou.itch.io/medieval-fantasy-city-generator/wbi/: https://discord.gg/6ZjEc7dy4TWorldbuilding Hub: https://discord.com/invite/wGjxK3YThe Writer's Forge: https://discord.com/invite/CUxHxWqTira: https://discord.com/invite/f52W6KgDawn of Victory: https://discord.gg/hUAynC3wConlangerama: https://discord.com/invite/ceKjZBr2jCComment too long. >>97456550>How can the Mages get power over the country, and do they need to?>I'm considering making something of a national ideology for Mages, something that makes them consider all Mages to be part of a single unified "Nation" that SHOULD dictate politics for the benefit of Magic on the whole and Magic Users in particular.Okay, poli sci has a lot of term conflation, so for clarity I'm gonna lay down some definitions before I talk this out.Country: A geographic region under the control of a *sovereign* stateState: A government acting to control a geographic regionSovereign: Having control over both internal and external affairsNation: A group of people having a shared political identity and government (but not necessarily a state/country)Now then, nations generally form among people in close geographic proximity, which is why stateless nations are rare on the world stage and tend to be limited to religious communities, nomads, and conquered peoples. If your magic community were attempting to represent "all Mages", that would point more towards something analogous to religious communities. Seizing a country doesn't make sense and would risk triggering pogroms in other countries unless "all Mages" are located within that country. If you want them to have a country of their own, rather than taking over a government, getting granted an autonomous territory would be a safer bet, or having them found one through protracted deliberate colonization of an area.Having said all that, you should ask yourself why Mages would want to separate from their countries and nations and form a new one in the first place? What is driving the alienation? Being able to create a beneficial in group alone isn't enough to create a nation.

Being able to create a beneficial in group alone isn't enough to create a nation.Mages tend to develop, usually around a few years after gaining their powers, an utter poisonous contempt for all humanity. They believe that they, having been granted the power to shape reality with their whims, shouldn't be forced to coexist with people who can't even bend a spoon with their brain. They especially resent how Mundanes keep coming to them for help with their problems, but still insist that they are all equals before the law.

>>97457016unfortunate. I will see how I can somehow still include your art without it looking out of place in the book.>>97457043it's being resurrected, or salvaged (pun intended) right now.
>>97448276Reminder that Chrono Cross is peak inspiration Got Kemonos, the comfiest ocean in video games and three flavours of high tech ruins to explore
>>97457185>it's being resurrected, or salvaged (pun intended) right now.are the people currently working on it focusing on getting a basic structure that is intended to create game experiences that feel like the inspirational art, and then get that early version out into the world to get as much play test info as possible from the widest possible group so they can iterate on it and produce a marketable working game?Or is it just another wank fest like the first go?
>>97457043To add to this, just the lore that's been written is being used, not the old (and also incomplete) game rules that've been recovered. The new game runs on the Year Zero Engine because it's fairly rules light and narrative focused, and also already has light resource gathering/management and survival game elements in place since that's also part of the esthetic of the setting.
>>97457340Nice! NGL, I was a teen when the first go around on this happened and I was very excited for it, seeing it go down in flames like that sucked. I really hope you guys pull it off!But probably would be best if the project moved off 4chan. Not only because it would concentrate actually committed people in one place and limit trolls and drive bys, but also the internet has changed a lot and I think a lot of the people who would love this game would be very put off if it was a modern 4chan project

>gameplayFor Centaurs, you should be able to use them as mounts when not in combat if they're lightly armed & armored. I think you could ride into battle with them and fight on their back without overburdening them, depending on your loadout. Squeezing into dungeons and caves might be a bit of a bitch, and your centaur companion may find themselves too cumbersome to accompany you in certain locations. If people in wheelchairs can make do, I'm sure a transmog potion or a shrinking potion might solve the problem.>fantasy settingsThey're more at home here for sure, like having a horse. Some taverns may give you a hard "no" for your centaur companion, but I'm sure regions that are steeped in centaur culture or adjacent ones have accommodations for their unique anatomy. If nothing else, they could help carry your camp supplies and other provisions. >loadouts for fantasyIf you're not riding them, I think they can be pretty well armed and armored- think tower shield and a mace/flail. They also make good spearmen, so I think they'd be comfortable wielding a halbard and similar pike-style weapons. This would be with them wearing plate mail cuirass for the human portion and chainmail curtain over their horse hind quarters, or perhaps some specially fitted Gambeson. Other plate sections could be fitted to their horse body as needed. Archery and crossbows seem like they'd work for ranged options. I've not considered them using magic, but having a fairly mobile spellcaster seems cool as well.

Games Wokeslop spent years building deep epic lore only to shit all over it overnight with Age of Shitmar yayAnyway, I’m good friends with a prominent writer of Warhammer novels he even wrote books om Gotrek and Felix saga. According to him a lot of writers within the Warhammer universe genuinely think AoS is bad. The general feeling is that GW higher-ups have no clue how to properly utilize the franchise and most important they dont respect it hence the constant retconsI also asked him about the return of Warhammer Fantasy. He said it’s a step in the right direction but many fans are still angry and the damage that was done cant really be undone at this point as many moved on to other games/settings out of gw

Actual adult humans who pay thousands upon thousands for a piece of mass-printed cardboard are fucking retarded. You can't change my mind.
>>97456298I mean, have you seen how infertiles behave? They lash out at people for "flaunting" (read: being a parent) their babies, impose themselves in parental roles of their friends and families' own babies (often to the point of interfering with/stealing milestones), and squandering staggering amounts of money instead of living the DINK dream.Nobody wants to study this syndrome because they, again, start lashing out at the idea they are mentally ill. Normal humans don't do this, NPCs do.

>>97453161For all the flak MaRo gets he's been right about this. WotC released the ARC system in the 90s (basically Portal fourth age but only universes beyond). It fails after two expansions and I kid you not MaRo says one of the reasons was they had only stills of the series they were importing for art and those looked bad because they had to zoom in way too much... No shit, Sherlock. He also says because both series didn't have a huge cast they couldn't fill the sets with only the regulars. Which is why they ended up with "random guy that betrays the heroes in that one episode". Which sounds an awful lot like the whole "Spiderman tanked because corporate wanted us to blow up the set last minute and we basically picked characters at random to fill it."
