Why isn't Playmobil more popular?
>>11671701>you should have some self respectThis is terrible bait.
>>11671307Maybe your mom eats ass behind the convenience stores, anon but most mothers do it in the pool house or at the country club.
>>11669710My biggest issue with Playmobil, and this is a problem I've had since I was a kid, is because the figures themselves kind of suck. They're less articulated then Lego people and can't even be popped and swapped about. Their playsets and vehicles are fantastic, but without good figures to interact with them, you can't really have fun playing with them. Last year I went hard in collecting a line called Gashapon Quest, a bunch of 3"ish articulated buildable fantasy figures that come from capsule machines. I enjoyed them so much I started looking for similarly sized figures and accessories to go with them. I found myself some similarly sized Goblins and Orcs, Re-ment has a lot of closely scaled accessories, Schleich's Eldrador line has tons of cool monsters that can work with the line. But I also found Playmobil's stuff scaled *perfectly* with these guys. So far I have pic related for my villains to sail about and I managed to track down most of a used Castle set to be the Adventurers main hub. I also plan on grabbing a second pirate ship for a similar line called Link Travelers that made a wave of pirate and sailor figures, and might even grab an evil tower or something if space allows it. But despite the sets and vehicles being so nice and working so well, sadly I just bin the figures and their gear because they're just not fun to play with. If Playmobil had better figures, I feel the entire line would be far more popular with both kids and collectors. >>11671672My kid loves playing with the giant castle I got. It's currently sitting on my kitchen table since i lack space in my toy room for it right now, and she spent all afternoon with some little princess figures who scale really well with it just having adventures. But even she didn't want to use the actual figures who came with the castle. Except the skeleton, she liked playing with that one.
>>11673365Where did you pick up your Gashapon Quest stuff? I had a lot of interest and assumed they'd come to amiami eventually but I never saw them
>>11673635I got the lion share of em from a site called Suruga-ya.com. They have a really decent selection and some of the rarer figures will pop up from time to time and tolerable prices. They also do free shipping weeks fairly often so you can wishlist a bunch of items then wait for one of their free weeks to ship everything cheap. You can also buy parts and set piecemeal so you can customize figures a bit easier then having to track down a whole collection. Though some of the rarer items can get pretty pricey, especially the figures themselves. Some of the figures from the "Character Selection" wave can be just as pricey as an entire set of figures. I thought they were going to continue the line, as I saw some "generic soldier" figures teased at one point. But they could also very easily be future Link Travelers stuff as the gimmick of that line is characters from across time and space interacting with each other or something. But unless something new drops, I'm pretty much done with the Gash Quest stuff.
Happy New Year anons. I picked up this horse figure a few weeks ago in a loose fig bin specifically for this character and buddy of mine wants to do the same but I can't ID it. It's a 1/12 scale and has a hidden button on the rear left thigh for galloping action. I'm pretty sure its not a yotijay or any version of Shadowfax that I can find. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

A $20 yoyo can give you days/weeks of entertainment.a $30 Marvel legends will be thrown in the back of a display case for 20 years, at which point your family will sell it for like a dollar at an estate sale.
Yoyos are for suckers. I got a harmonica and it's been great fun. You can get pretty good at it just fucking around when you're bored.
>>11668899fuck of retard, do a flip
I got this guy from McDonald's when I was little and I loved it. I had an X-Brain too, but this black kid in my class stole it from me when he asked to borrow it. I was a naive little kid and didn't know any better than to lend my stuff out. I think about that every time I see yoyo's get mentioned.
I not only recently bought a Bandai yoyo from Japan, I also found a couple books about them.Plus somewhere I have that old Duncan glow in the dark one I got as a kid.
I can't yo yo, what do?
alright anons, post your desk buddies - those toys you keep at your desk to fiddle with while you are work, playing or whatever that you do at your pc
My desk is in pieces while my new bed is disassembled. I've been too busy to deal with it. I'm also only going to meetings, so don't have an "office desk" technically.Certainly not a "desk" I would keep something I wouldn't want to "walk off" by itself. The tall tin toy in the back spins. When I was bored on phone calls and especially on zoom, I would flip the button and watch it spin. The two figures are bendies which is why the cape on one is torn, too much handling easily ruins that cheap material and that's what I would fidget with the most.
Please don't mind the cat hair, I have three cats and one of them sleeps on my desk.

What excites me about this wave is that it’s genuinely one of the strongest Original Trilogy lineups we’ve seen in years. It feels almost like an *ultimate* OT wave, packed with some of the most iconic elements from the trilogy, and the designs themselves are honestly excellent. The smart bricks don’t really bother me when I think about how far LEGO has come, and the prices are actually pretty reasonable compared to other modern Star Wars sets. LEGO was never cheap to begin with, and by today’s standards, these sets are far from outrageous. If anything, they feel like a premium, modern take on the “classic” style—almost a spiritual successor to the early 2000s era. Overall, I’m really impressed by the creativity and care that went into these, and it’s hard not to be excited about what LEGO is doing here.
>>11669593LEGO are the ONLY Star Wars toys that never stopped selling. I suspect that this year will be thin for SW choices because of the build-up to next year's big 50th anniversary releases.
>>11669593Are you the faggot clogging up /toy/ with all of these LEGO topics when you should be doing as normal and containing them to one "general" thread?

>>11673864honestly the pre rots era of lego is pretty similar to the post rots era until about 2008, and the minifigs were still essentially the same outside of the tcw sets until 2010ishthe 2009 echo base set still uses the original han face and smilies for the basic rebels, just in flesh instead of yellow
>>11673997They were similar I just have a special place in my heart for the attack of the clones sets and the OT sets of that era.
I have the new ahsoka from the interceptor along with the anakin. They are later season versions. The Obi wan from the v-19 looks sick but I want an obi wan in his canon later seasons outfit. Which obi is the optimal pick?Picrel seems to be the only option but his face has an entirely different style to the anakin and ahsoka figs.

Has there ever been a figure that got cancelled or remained unmade that made you genuinely seethe at a company before? I remember being extremely ticked off when spin master refused to make a 4-inch figure of the riddler for their the batman toyline even though he was the main villain of the movie. And low and behold the toyline rotted at shelves because all they made for it where catwoman and a penguin figure that didnt even look like collin ferrel.

The smart brick/smart play system from lego is awesome, did anyone see this video?Here:https://youtube.com/shorts/NXJlyDvnvHYThis is fire and I can't wait to buy the new sets, also the target demo is said to be 6-8 year olds, according to lego so why are manchildren seething so hard? This toy is awesome. I hope all themes get smart bricks. Why do they think it's cool to hate on something this awesome???
>>11669709someone said it in another thread: for a newfag at life, shit like that is always going to be new. Kids will be impressed.Personally, i grew out of wanting gimmicks in my toys when i turned 10. electronics always increase the price and toy companies includeless shit i actually care about: parts count, articulation, accessories, size, etc.In short, fuck gimmicks. They're always intrusive and basically exist just so a toy company can make 50-1000% more money despite the gimmick costing like 10¢ more per unit. Electronics are insanely cheap at a mass manufacturing level. Also, fuck modern cars, fridges, washing machines, and TVs.
>>11669495the internet now is mainly just people seeking to be outraged for any reason possible. Like theres an actual arguement that the smart brick isn't that desirable and will just pricehike sets, but so what? we can just ignore them and if it flops LEGO will just drop it like they've done with so many gimmicks.Lots of LEGO "fans" online are also insanely self conscious about collecting toys and has to really convince themselves that they're not toys they're "adult collectible models"meanwhile in real life no one gives a shit, my family has tons of lego models because we just like them.

So HLJ is getting worse and JP shipping is getting out of control so I've decided to ship out my PW just to get it done before I have to start paying fees on them. Just asking if anyone has experience doing the same, did you bite the bullet and ship all at once or is it better to split them up?If you're wondering mix of mainly model kits, but also a few figures like figmas and nendos. And I guess anyone else pulling out of importing because of this?
>>11673091Maybe. I imported SHF Rei and paid like $85 total and got her early. US sites have her for $90 and still don't have her in stock. So importing was better because still a few bucks cheaper and earlier. However, I am looking at Figma Privaty who is $100 on BBTS and $85 on amiami. Importing her will cost more than buying from BBTS. I guess it's case by case. Kinda want to just switch to US because it will be less headache not having to worry about surprise charges or packages being opened or damaged or sketchy couriers stealing your shit. I wish Kappa Hobby had a pile of loot like BBTS and didn't make you pay upon ordering instead of when items came in stock because they have the best prices.
>>11673091Batch shipping is still cheaper but its way more expensive than it was 6 months ago, and of course most stores don't actually let you batch ship. The real wallet killer is stores like goodsmile who are filling out the paperwork correctly, I just paid $48 in tariff for 1 figure from them where I paid less than that for 3 figures from hlj.
>>11673112Why not ship to a mail forwarder's warehouse in some country that's not affected by tariffs? Many of them will hold your stuff for free for about a month and you can combine shipments from multiple stores into one. Buyee and the like can do this too but you'll be fucked by Japan's local 10% sales tax + tariffs, which is why I'm thinking it might be best to ship to another country first.
>>11673116there is no country that doesn't have tariffs for the u.s. it automatically starts at 10%
>>11673091me personally yes, I costed out what Snail Shell's Kitsunebi Senki Honoka would roughly cost from Amiami compared to my local store.for me, post the shipping and import taxes it would land at roughly 140 usd (I am not American so its not what you would pay) and locally they'd sell it for 150 with free shipping, and the local store is easier to work with in case of issues, so yeah local stores from now on, I'm only gonna use Mandarake and maybe Amiami for in stock second hand stuff from now on and even then that will be rare.
