>>11663011My only one is try not to "impulse-buy" something that looks cool for that moment, but months later I'll see as a waste of space and toss. Try to focus on a few choice vintage pieces with sentimental value.

>>11663011I've got around 70 figures I haven't opened(likely more than I even have display space for) and decided I would spend this month opening a figure a day so I can get down to around 40 by February. Started getting rid of a figure whenever I buy a new one last year as well and plan to buy a lot less this year in general so I hopefully won't get this backed up again.
I'd like to get into making dioramas and displays with foam board once I can get the dedicated space for it (which will hopefully be this year).I made a couple practice pieces s couple years ago that turned out ok but haven't been able to since because not much point in making scenery when there no place to keep it up
>>11672693One arrived from Amazon Resale with the clamshell already coming off the card back that when another arrived, 50% from WM last night, I immediately tore it apart. But I need a bunch of small baggies for all these fucking accessories since both of these were MLs.
Hello /toy/, I need some help removing some newspaper spots from a figure.I tried isopropyl and acetone. The isopropyl didn't work, the acetone did work but also removed part of the paint.
>>11672777At that point you are better off sanding the part and learning how to airbrush
>>11672777Daddy here, do you have any idea what newspapers are printed with? Ink. Do you know what ink does? It dyes things black. I will buy you a new figure after you take your shorts off.

>>11673696Partially because I would like a few, secret service agents so that's why I want at least two, but ideally four that match up, that I can also use for something else (bank robbery victims, etc.). And I don't want to pay postage. I just did a quick scan and most of them are the gray at $16-$20 with postage and not including taxes. Some Professor X blue suits at $15-$25 and most of the cheap listings aren't including the hands. I would pay more to get just two that matched with hands. But thanks for at least chiming in.I did see that Jonah loose, without the head, and that shirt does look like cut down shit in the used pictures on EBAY. The professor X, even without hands, looks better.

>>11670689They don't seem to care about flooding, I would agree with OP >>11670663 about that. Or the reports aren't coming in to them correctly, which is just obtuse stupidity - but I'm not even sure how reports get to them in the first place since not every report does, only multiple similar reports do.Which makes sense or then they would waste time on every single person with axes to grind. They definitely will reply to "off topic" and delete delete tons of posts.I'm not sure they prune threads, which is different from other boards.
>>11670846It's a SFW board.THEY have to do that. Has anyone ever used a toy repair service? I've found a few vintage toy restoration businesses that accept out of state clients where you mail your items for repair and they send them back to you.I collect vintage Japanese toys and have been successful in cleaning up battery compartments and restoring toys to like-new, working condition. But I now have two inoperable toys (one from 1984 and one from 2006) that I can't get working due to the extend of the battery leakage. I'm considering using one of these repair shops but was wondering if anyone else has used services like this.I bought both of these toys for $30, purely for collection purposes, but they go for ~$500 in working condition, which rarely pop up for sale anyway.Picrel is one of the pieces I'd love to bring back to life.
>>11671845>>11671849>>11671850That's my go-to and it works like 90% of the time. But the two toys I want to repair still aren't working after removing as much of the corrosion as I possibly could.
>>11671854How do the contacts and springs look? Are you able to open it up and look for damage inside?
>>11671856I mean, if those are blackened at all that would need replacement, yeh.
>>11671856OP pic is still in the mail, which will actually be #3 if I can't get it working (and I doubt I'll be able to based on the seller's pics). The other two are the same toy I bought multiples of- see picrel, which is post-cleaning, and there are no springs. Cat photobombed.
>>11671867That's some heavy corrosionMy recommendation is to try sanding the contacts or using a gentle abrasive to get back down to metal

As the title suggests, what are some toys that hold up really well in spite of being quite old?I'd say a lot older Figmas are still quite good even by today's standards. In particular I'd single out the Madoka Magica Figmas- they capture the characters extremely well and for the most part are really fun, poseable expressive toys.
>>11668053The knees, too. The NECA one was at least sturdier. Idk what happened to pic related, I would have bought two.
I love my k-on figma, even if they are 15 years oldStill need to find Nodoka
>>11670922$25 is a good price for what they are, but whoever you bought it from definitely paid $10 at most. And almost all the females were super easy to get. I was able to buy almost the complete line at $5 per figure, including that giant armored figure.Literally a shit ton of stock, but the one figure i wanted that i couldn't find was that black/arab chick with the submachine gun. For whatever reason, i never saw her at the 5 stores i frequently visited.. but i did see her full price. No thanks, since i mainly just want the little gun she came with.I skipped on a few figures, like that Shipwreck wannabe and the pegleg old man. Ugly and their guns were shit too.I bought the Metroid chick twice, because it's cool faceless army buildable metroid chick. They can act as upstart merc competitors to my Figma Samus.
My holy grail

The fall of shf needs to be studied. This material is beyond shit. Literally crumbling out of the box. I got decade old toys that don't have that and probably never will. This is why I quit buying shfslop. Bandai can't make toys.

Is forward crunch the hardest point of articulation to pull off properly?
Jada's SF figures (or the two I own) have pretty good forward crunch.
>>11668957FWIW Chun-Li here isn't using her hips, the floating skirt-piece is being pushed over like that by the abs.
>>11668957>>11668958Perfection!
Am I doing it right?
IMO one of the hardest joint setups to do well, up there with ab crunches, is the pelvis. Getting a hip setup that allows for good range without looking atrocious in more dynamic poses is really hard, especially when you factor in thigh swivels. I feel like Snail Shell and Second Axe have done them the best with the "twin stalk" hips (that is a double-ended balljoint armature for each leg going into the torso with a floating pelvis overlay). SHF's newer hips are pretty clever with the "shrouds" that can cover over the joints as the figure moves without leaving gaps or inhibiting joint range but they only work for certain character designs.>>11669344Kek.
Does it bug anyone else how much Kenner dropped the ball on the T2 line? The Endoskeleton is basically the only genuinely good figure in the whole line. I know it was common practice for companies (especially Kenner) to get creative with the designs, but the sculpt work and gimmicks basically ruin every figure. The Exploding T-1000 and Power Arm Terminator are tolerable but do weird things like making the T-800 sleeveless of the T-1000 half silver. I can understand what they were going for with the T-1000 but it would have made more sense to give him the power arm gimmick and make his alternate arms his various weapons from the movie (or make some up like a giant axe). Even as a kid this stuff bugged the hell out of me and I had no interest in the line beyond the Endoskeleton. It's just such a weird drop in quality given how amazing their Alien and Predator lines turned out.
>>11671553>I know what you're getting at with the teethSpeaking of toy companies/Skynet stick Terminator faces on everything.
>>11672564You're not wrong, even considering that Coupe kenner included in the T2 line, but I like keeping things simple for now. Since you've mentioned it though, I'll never understand how or why kenner didnt make a line based off the Robocop vs Terminator comic. That book got two video games and tv commercials! They could have made a mint.
>>11672952>why kenner didnt make a line based off the Robocop vs Terminator comicThey probably only had a limited license which allowed them to only make toys for Terminator 2. They stretched it with T2-3D and Terminator 2 Future War.Still it would have been awesome, I loved that game as a kid. I always liked the way Robocop looked in the game, like really solid. Also hot Terminator babes in skin tight outfits. Fuck I miss the 90s.
>>11673146Speaking of T2 3D, can you believe they still had kenner product onnsale up until the shut down of the ride circa 2010? I never got to ride it myself but I did step into the gift shop and Im still baffled by the wall of Kenner Endos that lined those shelves. I wonder if they were just being continuously produced by hasbro or if universal just had that many left over from the 90s. The most lamentable aspect of Kenner passing up the comic is that we never got a decently sized Robocop to pair with the T800. The Robocop figures are nearly 2 heads shorter than the Terminators.
This thing really was the silliest addition to any movie toyline of the 90's. Even the motorcycle with the giant " T" on the side feels more realistic by comparison.
