It's the perfect point for humanity to become a truly oppressive force, and with an eight year timeskip the reaction for the whaling fleet's destruction will have had time to reach Pandora. We already know Toruk Makto won't cut it, maybe we'll even see a Spirit Tree-type Eywa node be destroyed by real military weapons despite the wildlife assault. Maybe even multiple of them, destroying any that are detected near human operations.
Then the fleeing to the cold corners of the world and ancient Na'vi discovery is dark in its own way.
Unfortunately both of these will cause more Neytiri suffering.
The big question is how does the creation of Earth's Eywa actually stop the trillionaire vampire elite's ambitions on Pandora. Maybe it'll be a religious revolution sort of thing, humans start growing kurus, connecting to Gaia and tearing the system apart on every level. Or maybe it'll just be more optimistic about the power of democracy and the masses than is realistic.
Either way I would be shocked if the state of things at the end of A5 isn't a scarred but preserved Pandora and an Earth in the early stages of resurrection.
