First for Dracula 3D
True first for Christmas horkino
>>204821512I don't feel right including "3-D" in a movie title if I'm watching it in 2-D. This is just Argento's Dracula
>>204821512Cool posterAre there lots of tiddies in this?
>>204821533Nothing beats this.It might be my favorite movie I've watched so far this month. The comfy levels are off the charts.
>>204821560'Argento's Dracula' makes it sound like it could be a good movie. Something called Dracula 3D will obviously not get anyone's hopes up. The title alone instantly tells you that the imdb rating is probably hovering around 3.5.(Okay, I just looked it up on imdb to see if I was right, and I was completely right, it's rated 3.6)
Anyone else a fan of Three Extremes?I think it's one of the most consistently good anthology movies
>bought a bottle of absinthe to make my horror watching experience more interesting>tastes too intense at first and numbs my whole tongue>now I'm starting to like itIt also makes the room smell like anise for many hours afterwards

I need to learn to scroll down all the way in the thread before i start responding to people, there was a new thread already and i'm in the last like an asshole replying to things.
>>204821951Happens to the best of us
>>204821951Yeah, only retards do that. Be better.
I like nervous wine mom Laurie from H20 a lot better than BAD ASS tacticool grandma Laurie in Halloween 2018
>>204821951Kek I'm glad you're aware of it, me and the boys were laughing so hard at you still posting in the other thread. My guy Andre said "this fucking joker's still posting" and we all burst out laughing. Best laugh we've had all October, man, thank you.
>>204822002Too bad H20 took the rotten New Nightmare pill and barely anything happens for 1hBut hey, at least more than 1 person dies onscreen as opposed to Shit Nightmare
>>204821533For me, it's Krampus
>that perfect casting that single-handedly makes a movie good and memorable

Watched The Wailing sometime backRecc some Oriental horror kinos
>He Who Walks Behind the RowsWait... it's not "He Who Walks Behind the Rose"?
>>204822072It's the worst.Literally NOTHING happens until the ending, besides Heather acting schizo about her kid.The movie only fucking has ONE onscreen kill from what I recall, the babysitter at the end.Rest is just the nightmare sequence at the beginning when Freddy is still powerless.
>>204822072but that's the 1st one
>>204822119I haven’t saw it in many years but I remember liking it a lot. Maybe I’ll rewatch it soon
>>204822119Freddy is causing earthquakes, slashing into the fucking walls of Heather's house, kills her husband, literally kills Wes Craven and Robert Englund
watching Brides of Blood (1968)Set on an island where there are mutant monsters about and the villagers sacrificing their women in an effort to appease them.So far the only saving grace of this movie is Beverly Powers showing off her cleavage in various outfits in it.
>>204822115It's not Children of the Roses
>>204821951It happens.
>>204821951Well if they're not jerks, they'd reply to you in this thread

Anyone rocking a surround sound set-up? Do you feel it adds to the atmosphere or enjoyment of the movie?
>>204822052>celebrated on Oct 31st as an official holiday to combat invasive american cultureThis is kind of a new development, some retarded type of patriotism where some people got mad that folks were having halloween parties, it's retarded.I don't remember what happened to his leg, i think he was born like that.
why are all the Smile 2 links camrips if youtube just prompted me to watch it if I pay them money?is it fucking streaming yet or not?
>>204822380Picrel was cute as hell and looked like a silent actress from the 1910s.
I just watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and of course I enjoy it, but I know little about the rest of the franchise, do you guys recommend me to do a marathon and watch the rest?

DUDE ITS ALL SHOT IN ONE TAKE (not really though, it's just edited to look that way) ISN'T THAT COOL AND UNIQUE???
What's some horror with book style intro sequences? I love thatRecently I've watched Santa's Slay and it has it.
>>204822549It would be if it were executed properly
>>204821697I don't like Miike's segment and Dumplings worked better as it's own film.
>>204822115Rows...of corn
>>204822549I would've creamed my pants if In A Violent Nature stayed with the killer's POV 100% of the time AND it was a single take.
>>204822574There's a good sequence like that, sort of, in Bram Stoker's Dracula
>>204822522First: That's a really badass Jason designSecond: They aren't great after 2 but I think they're worth a watch for someone who hasn't seen them. It's fun seeing young Viggo Mortensen, Matthew McConaughy, and Renee Zellweger
>>204822574lmao I used to watch santas slay with my brothers and dad when I was like 7yrs old kektook me years to realize how fucked up it was and definitely won't be showing it to my kids
>>204808353>Ben Mancowitz is such a chill ass nigga.Everyone always rushes to say Robert Osborne did it better but I didn't watch it much in his host days. Ben has grown on me. The smug kike mien is occasionally grating but he is more entertaining and likeable than not. His dumb running gag introducing Gary Godzilla movies always gets a chuckle out of me.>What other movies on there now do you plan to watch? Thanks for the Chamber of Horrors recommendation. I didn't know it was based on House of Wax's plot.Stuff I've watched before and will/would rewatch:Val Lewton-produced RKO stuff: The Body Snatcher (main plot with the two doctors drags somewhat but Karloff is excellent and the finale is excellent) > Isle of the Dead (uneven, kinda dumb finale, but some really good Cat People-style scenes of silent creepy dread based mostly on subtle audio cues though) > The Ghost Ship (this might be the weakest of the bunch, but the fight to the death below decks while the crew up top is listining to Billy Radd sing cheerful Caribbean ditties is good stuff, and very ahead of its time)The HauntingMark of the VampireThe Night Digger (suspense; interesting take on a Hitchcock plot; check it out)Night of the Living DeadPoltergeist (this one annually for sure)Spirits of the DeadSistersGoing to watch for the first time:House of WaxWhat Ever Happened to Baby Jane?Pic related is on tonight at 3:15 AM EST and I am debating staying up to rewatch it. I worked with a guy who wrote the screenplays for a bunch of screenplays based on HP Lovecraft stories plus a bunch of other schlocky horror movies. Is this worth watching?
>>204822100Its The Purge with werewolves and I like it.
>>204822826Yeah, it's good. I watched it today. When it goes ham it gets really fun and weird.
>>204821533for me its the tales from the crypt christmas episode
>>204822826Very good . Super fun, good effects, Crampton tits.
>>204822380I liked the final cure Lon Chaney brought home at the end of the movie

Watching The Substance with my parents.
>>204822935>>204822826
>>204822826It's like THE Lovecraft adaptation, yes, give it a watch.
>>204822970Try not to fall asleep because it's a long boring movie where nothing happens inbetween the initial body horror scene and the last 10 minutes.
Any movies similar to William Hope Hodgson?
>>204822676Forgot The Wicker Man, but I'm going to watch the Final Cut fan-assembled version with some cut scenes edited in rather than the original.>>204822380Fun stuff; Lon Chaney's theme song was the best part for me. The stories about him being dry drunk on set and nicknaming the actresses stuff like Tiny Titties and Bubble Butt are entertaining.
>>204822194>>204822607I though it was rows like church rows.
>>204823012That's Dagon though
>>204823104Anon, the entity they worship is a demon who lurks behind the rows of corn that surround the town
It must have been scary watching this one in the theatre, especially if you were a kid that shouldn’t be in there.side note: I detected a lot of subtle Australian symbolism and cultural references in it, almost like they were expecting some Australian guy to watch it, maybe some director or something.https://youtu.be/-4Ru1UChaUU
>>204823134He wrote that too
Enjoyed this one this one despite taking a nap halfway through (ate too much pizza)Beautiful scenery, killer soundtrack and the elevator kill was gnarly aswell. Just wish the mystery was bit better. Anyone got a grid for this one?
>>204823149This is such a fun movie. Great music, too>>204823134I'm a big Stuart Gordon guy but for me it's Re-Animator and everything else. His adaptation of Dreams in the Witch House from Masters of Horror is really good.
>>204823165I always get this movie confused with Pieces

First reply decides if I watch Maneater (2007), Maneater (2009), or Maneater (2022)
>>204822549>Director David Moreau swears MadS really is an authentic one-take movie, or “oner,” as film and TV pros would put it>As far as all that behind-the-scenes GoPro footage goes — the proof that Moreau and his team got the whole movie down in a single take — he’d like to see it released to the public in some form. >“We are working on that,” he says. “It’s a great idea, it’s just a ton of footage. But yes, we are planning on doing it. We are actually working on it, because it’s interesting to see how we did it. For movie lovers, it’s always interesting [to see] those different ways of shooting.”
>>204822549>omae no PATH wo BLOCK suru
>>204823328Seems like 2009 should be pretty bad, so you can watch that one.But idk anything about any of those movies
Mr.Crocket was pretty good for a Hulu movie
>>204823355That one looked the worst to me as well. I'm strapping in for the show, anon.
/hor/ I need you to pinpoint the exact moment some horror movies shit the bed. When the villain went from scary to lame, or the plot turned retarded, whatever. I’ll start us off with the dead kid ballet in Sinister. What the fuck were they thinking?
>>204823328>whooooaaaaa here she comes
>>204823395>Hereditary The final 1 minute kek
>>204823395Lots of movies, and I mean lots shit the bed in the final act. Sinister being one of them
>>204823395That scene in The VVitch when that kid delivers the weird excited delirium monologue. I know what they were trying to do, but it came out so awkwardly.
>>204823395The part of Smile where the monster impersonates her therapist. That in and of itself is fine, but when he starts talking to her in a spooooky voice, it ruins him
>>204823196Don't see how that happens, considering that Pieces is a fun slasher while Deep Red is a badly paced snorefest with only a couple of rememorable scenes.
>>204823395Dawn of the Dead (snyder version) got so stupid at the gun store rescue. Like the dude has a billion shotguns and KNOWS this dog is coming and there is a 100% chance some zombs will creep in with the dog when he lets it in but still gets bitten. Then they just ram a truck into the store and its like, wow, they could have done that the entire time anyway. Also they somehow run out of water on a lake
This shit was actually kino
>>204823446I also thought the spoopy monster reveal in Smile was where it went off the rails. Lots movies suffer from the same problem.
>>204823395Occult (2009) literally the last 30 seconds completely ruin the entire movie
Is Hell House LLC worth watching? I feel like watching some found footage kino
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuYGhIYC7mk
>>204823509you could do a lot worse for FF, just the first one though. or watch Gonjiam
>>204823490The Marilyn Manson looking monster was uinintentionally hilarious and soured the climax of the film which was otherwise fairly well done. Honestly the actual smiling is the worst part of that film.
>>204823477Ghetto Horror Kinohttps://youtu.be/wc1mL4Qlgq4?si=VZnDIbaqH8upZBAv
>>204823446>in and of itself
>>204823553Yeah..I'm of the opinion that a LOT of horror movies would really do better as purely psychological horror, but they always fuck it up with a spoopy monster in the last 15-20 minutes. So many of them do this. Smile, Sinister, Oculus, that old Mike Flanagan movie where the woman's husband is missing. I lost track of how many do the same damn thing.
>>204823395It Follows with the screaming kid crawling through the window. Way to ruin the entity being totally silent = the scariest thing about it.
>>204823333He's full of shit, the cuts are obvious.

>>204823527Ok, I did watch Gonjiam earlier in the year and enjoyed it a lot. I'll give Hell House a try
>>204823395I love the original friday the 13th, but once Mrs. Voorhees starts getting knocked out repeatedly, it really shits the bed. But that final jumpscare almost redeems it
>>204822460i use virtual surround with my sound blaster it's great for games and movies. it also works with speakers(not the same as true surround bit it ads a lot of depth)for some reason it also works with surround encoded on stereo from old movies(most old and new masters have this feature).
>>204823585I tend to agree, as much as 'trauma based horror' has become somewhat played out, there are definite exceptions and Smile was a way better psychological horror than spoopy monster horror. Not sure if this even needs to be spoilered.
>>204822025>>204822119Didn't like NN either. And yes I went in with an open mind about the meta thing and all that, but it fell flat.
>>204823357Now watch Carved
>>204823585I’m okay with there BEING a spooky monster, as long as A. They don’t over-show it and B. It’s actually spooky. The scariest moment in Smile was when she’s at home for the first time and Laura is just smiling, barely visible in the corner. And I’m fine with BUG GHOUL existing in the background of the Super 8 movies, but man do they overexplain him and show him too much. The dead kids, too.
>>204822951>I haven't seen the third one thoDon't bother, it's absolute shit!!!FACT!!!
/hor/ does still like The Empty Man, right?
>>204823729I prefer The Bye Bye Man
>>204823729We like the first segment. The rest is just okay.

>>204823729Yes. >>204823758Don't say it, don't spray it...
>>204823708Yeah I thought Sinister was pretty damn creepy but once they were like ackshually it was a spoopy demon all along it took me completely out of it. They don't really make good psychological horror much these days. The Night House almost did it, but once again, the ending
Why do people not celebrate Halloween like they used to?
>>204823621Possibly doesn't need spoilers, just trying to be nice to slow anons who don't watch as much horror
>>204823804When every day is a living horror show Halloween becomes less special.
>>204823804because the streets are already scary as is...
>>204823804It's a distinctly American holiday that dates back to the colonial era, and the American identity and culture is rapidly weakening as a result of massive demographic changes in the country
>>204823863Wrong as always stalker. The opposite has happened American culture has spread so thoroughly pajeets who can’t understand the function of a toilet can tell you about Halloween.
>I love Jessica Har-ACK!
>>204823804Its stronger in whiter and more conservative neighborhoods. The more browns in your area the less devoted to Celtic-American festivals.

>>204823648I saw that on the site, is it actually any good? I passed on it then
>>204823509That was one of the better low-budget found footage movies I've seen from the 2010s.It was genuinely creepy/scary at parts, and generally maintained my interest throughout.

Grudge 2019 is awful, why would they even make thisThey should’ve just called it something else because the curse isn’t even the same Awful movie Only thing worse would be if the grudge curse was born in an RV instead of a house so it could “move”
>>204824336I remember watching that movie alone in an empty theater while trying to kill time between community college classes. That’s the only thing I remember about it
>>204824309This looks like a film that would make me piss, shit, cry, cum, fart, and laugh at the same time

Just finished this and I am so confused. Can someone explain it to me?why did he try to cut his dick off? What the hell happened at the end?

>>204825061Its Italian.
>>204825097>Because of what the lady tells himWhat did she tell him? I must have missed it.
>>204823355Ahem>Day 24: ManeaterWent well beyond my expectations. My expectations were very low. This is a by-the-numbers Werewolf movie (Really a Wendigo but it acts just like a Werewolf), with exactly the plot you'd expect. "Who's the killer? ...am I the killer?" The monster is incredibly cheap looking, Spirit-Halloween tier, possibly the worst I've seen this month. But the writing is decent, even clever in a couple places, and you can tell that the makers were trying. It's not shoveled-out, they really wanted to make a decent movie. Lots of tits too, which adds some points. I'm not recommending it, but it's honestly an okay flick.
>>204823471I honestly wasn't a fan of that movie at all. The ending was especially stupidI've never seen the original

Someone posted a Hellraiser III cinegrid the other day I thought was really awful so I tried to make another one. But these are actually pretty hard to make and I ended up making 5 different versions. Here's the first one.
>>204824929I agree If you wanna watch some good Japanese found footage, watch Senritsu Kaiki File Kowasugi. All the episodes are on YouTube, if you're interested.
Second.
>>204825137On the strength of this review I might actually watch it
>>204825048How can it be overrated when anyone with a brain agrees that it's a worthless piece of shit?
>>204825387Cinegrids seem like a fun but frustrating project. I made one for the first Hellraiser but I'm too lazy to make more
>>204825048>>204825425It spooked me for realThe climactic scene at Lake Mungo was scary
>>204822549It was really cool bc the cinematography was stunning, there were some nice unexpected moments and it adds a lot to the sense of place and urgency of the plot
Third.
What is a horror movie that feels like this poster?
>>204825388The first one is legit the only good episode, the lovecraftian worm shit doesn't work with zero budget
>>204823333I'd like to watch the continuous cut>>204823596He said that himself: 5 takes. But there's also a one-shot, which is what he's talking about

>>204822115It's actually "He who walks behind the Roes" the film is a metaphor for abortion rights.

And four. Which is just three with a swap.>>204825435>Cinegrids seem like a fun but frustrating project.>I made one for the first Hellraiser but I'm too lazy to make moreI fucked up the first one I made tremendously >>204825387The one I posted is actually a remake of my first one. I spent hours trying to align it correctly but now that I know the grid trick and GIMP it's a lot easier. The hardest part is deciding what shots to use, and in what order.
>>204825479No, he claims that it took them 5 takes to get it all right in one go, not that the movie is 5 separate takes spliced together.
>>204825471Most of the episodes are better than Noroi. That film is all hype.
>>204825497Godzilla 1998

>hey anon, uhh what's with the camera?
>>204825629Enjoy it. It's a surprisingly dark film for being a childrens' movie from Disney. It's got such a bizarre fantasy atmosphere and cinematography like something out of a Kubrick film at times.

Why the FUCK isn’t this talked about more
>>204824929Cult was goofy as hell but it was fun and the girls were cute
>>204825468Texas Chainsaw MassacreDerangedThe Flythe Thing
>>204825763It’s talked about fairly often. Really comfy movie
Just finished Halloween 6 Curse of Michael Myers.I'm not sure which version it was, the runtime was 1:35:59 so maybe somebody knows. I liked this better than 5. It wasn't a great movie, but it felt more like a classic Halloween movie than Revenge did.Pros>Tommy Doyle is back>kino shots of Haddonfield neighborhood and lots of elements from first movie>"mommy it's raining, it's raining red"Cons>another generic satanic cult/Rosemarys Baby rip off>no cute & funny Danielle Harris>stupid ending, maybe even the worst
>>204825759That can work. I think for me, I end up with the rows being vaguely lighting and color related. Thanks for bringing it up, I think I'll try to make a few in the next couple of days.Your grids and all the others that have been posted lately are really cool
>>204825061The woman he was in love with had a phobia about sex so he castrated himself to make her happy. Then she gets fucked by Chad and becomes a whoreMany such cases
>>204825919>Your grids and all the others that have been posted lately are really coolThanks, I'm still not sure what I think of them myself. And I found myself thinking of/trying to go by color while making mine but also trying to stick to runtime order, which made it even more difficult. Also considered going by theme.

>>204825901In the version you watched did Jamie die a few minutes in or make it to the hospital first? If she died a few minutes in you watched the theatrical.
>>204825689Google images has been shit for years
>>204826013She made it to the hospital. So this was the producers cut, which is considered worse right?
What the fuck was her problem?
>>2048260640 pussy
>>204826077wtf shes just like me
>>204826061>which is considered worse right?I think generally the Producer's Cut is considered better. There's an anon here that prefers the theatrical cut and hypes it up but I don't think I've seen much love for it otherwise. I watched both of them back to back a few months ago and preferred the Producer's Cut. The Theatrical Cut does have a better finale but much worse pacing overall. The Producer's Cut is bad but comfy.
>>204826157Ok I'll have to watch the other version then at some point, maybe next year.
The monster was mankind all along
>>204826490
>>204825061I just finished it and I'm in a similar state. I don't think this really qualifies as horror, it's more like an absurdist comedy. It's not really for me but that may have to do with my expectations going into it after having watched The Church last night. I dunno I don't think I'm enough of a film guy, if you will, to get it. I'll try it again in a few years now that I know what to expect. The coma scene made me laugh out loud at least.

>>204827110I enjoyed them. Milla is always damn hot in them too. Ali Larter too.
>>204827110I feel gypped out of liking these movies because I grew up with the games. I like the first movie for what it is but by the second movie I was already tapping out for how much they screw up the characters and general plot.
man this shit was boring. Half the movie is the guy walking aroundThe highlight was him using a decapitated corpse to smash a glass display. Had some nice kills thoughalso>goth girl in movie>said girl is not final girl
who here killing themselves on halloween to become ghosts???

>>204827294The Void is definitely worth a watch, fairly straight ahead horror.Psycho Goreman is on one hand a cool power rangers style film, on the other feels like it's actively competing to be excruciatingly unfunny.

>>204827353because it was "cool" from 2008 to about 2014 or so to pretend you hated it, and then it just fell off the map entirely after the joke got oldbut that's the thing, it was never bad to begin with, it was just people being afraid to admit they liked itmy mom loved it and i liked it a lot, only the first one though, the sequels go downhill quickly. still, all worth a watch one time.

>>204827502Not bad. I saw the first one was AI sloppa and didn't give the rest a chance. I don't like computers trying to make me feel things.
/hor/ is a quite fast-moving general, when alltogether it feels like /tv/ has slowed down. I feel appreciated here. It is very possible we have argued like shit-flinging capuccinos in other threads in previous years, but here we have struck an amicable balance. Maybe we should hold a sacrifice to keep it going.

She has played in many cult movies. Also, another band definitely worth mentioning always and especially in Halloween: Horslips.
