>Ankers recalled shortly before her death in 1985, that she was uncomfortable with the role of sinister Liona for both professional and personal reasons. Ankers, a strikingly attractive blonde, was customarily cast in “good-girl” ingénue roles in many of her program pictures. Disappointed in her own performance, she felt she was miscast.
>When LeBorg would say "action" and Ankers would try to exact a menacing look, she and co-star Anne Gwynne would almost inevitably start laughing. Universal never hired her to play a villain again.[6]

I was enjoying the show but it felt like it ended on the type of cliffhanger where if I didn't know the show got canceled, I still wouldn't expect it to actually continue. They were bringing it somewhere a little too crazy to keep going with. Seems more like the kind of thing for the viewer to imagine the rest of.
>>
>>204845330
Evil Dead is my favorite franchise (NOT RISE) and initially I was disappointed by the end, but in a way it seems fitting because all of the good Evil Dead movies (not Rise) end with a cliffhanger or non resolution as well

Spooktober 25/31
Watched Phoenix Forgotten (2017)
Follows the trend of other found footage films where the first movie tends to be very slow and pretty boring. Last half of the movie (last tape) is good though and the last scene looks great. They overdid it with camera glitching effects to the point of getting annoying, but other than that a pretty enjoyable movie

IT is my favorite book and I've never seen the adaptations, watched the miniseries last night and just finished the first movie.
I liked it a lot and I see why everyone praises it but I can already tell that chapter 2 is going to suffer heavily from being only the adult stuff.
I also think they didn't give Stanley enough characterization. I feel like if you only know the story from this movie then Stanley's suicide will make absolutely 0 sense and just make him seem like a complete bitch.
Also really sad they didn't include the giant bird. I thought for sure that a big budget adaptation would include the scene with Mike in the smokestack with the giant bird. That's one of the best scenes in the book in my opinion.

But I do like and try to watch a lot of the new releases every year, there's always bound to be one or two gems among the wokeshit and generic zoomer slop. Some people in here don't even try to do that though, just dismiss anything new and only watch old shit on repeat. I don't understand that mentality but if they enjoy it more power to them. Sometimes i wonder why i bother. I'm on an exhaustive hunt to find new shit, even if i am in a constant state of disappointment.

I thought it was great. Most people really liked it. The few people I've heard say they didn't like it didn't enjoy how comedic it was. The same people also tend to not like Army of Darkness.

It's very focused on Ash as a character, basically putting Bruce Campbell in front of the camera and just letting him ham it up. Lots of references to the movies.
If you check it out, give it a few episodes before you judge it. The first episode doesn't the rest of the series justice

Watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre for the first time recently.
Earlier I watched a video where they called Franklin (the wheelchair guy) one of the worst, most annoying characters and apparently a lot of people hate him and cheered when he died.
Then I watched the movie, and I actually thought he was one of the best and most relatable characters. At the very least, he's the most memorable. I wanted him to live far more than the final girl who literally has no personality or character.
People cite he's annoying that one time in the abandoned house, but he was kinda justified in being upset.
I really don't get the hate for this character

>some bar or club alone?
I did that back in 2018. Halloween night. Packed bar, everyone else there with somebody, loud, expensive drinks. Drunk old broad harassing other patrons, security escorted her out. Line up for washroom. Left before midnight, stopped in coffee shop to use washroom, out of order sign and door locked. Just get to nearby mall before closing, nearly piss myself on way to washroom. Waiting for bus home, some drunk Injun trying pour beer from his empty can on me.

It never hurts to try, but don't be overly disappointed by results.

fair enough, my favorite King is probably Salem's Lot. It utilizes the structure of the novel best for a fleshed out depiction of his small town ensemble best and really resonates with that burgeoning sexuality as well. But, The Long Walk also looms large for such an effective streamlined story, it's really effective suspense but I admit I couldn't tell you much about the actual story told in flashback. Really looking forward to the first film adaptation finally in production currently. Always thought it'd be the perfect project for a first time screenwriter or director.
All that said I wouldn't hold up King's relatable pulp entertainment in comparison to what literature is capable of broadly.

Unironically the only FF movie I've ever watched that was even slightly convincing and interesting is Butterfly Kisses.
And the reason it works so well I think is because it's a documentary about a FF movie they found.
So any fakeness can be attributed to the movie they found being a hoax.

avoid Oddity like the plague, there is a nearly 30 minutes long scene where the main chick, a lesbian of course, gets her period and goes all kinds of Jackson Pollock with it and smears it everywhere and writes the words 'Patriarchy' on the wall
