How much did you trust game magazines in the 90s?Everyone is so jaded when it comes to reviews these days.
>>12016445This, 1996-2002 era of demos was great. 2003-2006 was the last farawell
>>12025173>G-PoliceI have come here to shill this game. PC version is a bit better but you can't go wrong either way.
>>12025230I played the demo countless times, what I enjoyed the most was the setting and sound desing was quite superior.
>>12026057Fun fact: there are a number of bugs in the demo level that are present in the final release and are in the pc version as well, such as the traffic getting stuck going in circles and one section of an elevated road being invisible yet still having collision. The droid battle secret mission is the same level as the demo, just with a droid rather than havoc.
Back then Gamespot used to have big launch center areas on its site for popular titles. Why not anymore? The site used to be big and active with a thriving community.
are you fucking serious

>needing a translation for a SHMUP
Laughs at you in 3do translation stuff. Most translations come with a shady doghsit installer that breaks if you look at it.
>>12026031Oh, i've seen plenty of those on both Saturn and PSX, mostly PSX since there is a dedicated Saturn patching tool. But I remember the ZSNES days where I had to run several dos programs in a row to patch a game.
>>12026002>needing a translation for a SHMUPYes. If there is but one line of dialog, it should be in my language. There is not a single Japan only game that shouldn't be translated.
>>12026051Apparently the patching tool for Ys IV English translation on PC Engine CD no longer works on 64-bit Windows machines. You have to use a VM or an emulator to patch the game.

Which is supreme to you? MK2 basically perfected the original game with the same gameplay tightened up and with an expanded roster. UMK3 took the gameplay and made it more hyper with running and long sequenced combos
2 was the peak of the presentation/casual experience. umk3 was the funnest to play competively.
>>12025165Have sex
>>12025235This, mk2 had the best look/feel while umk3 played better.In a perfect world they'd rebuild mk2 onto umk3s engine.

>>12025903>creates nothing of value to anyone evertheir arcade games, bro? but yeah they never shouldve entered the home vidya business. the genesis was lightning in a bottle at the perfect time because nintendo had no competition. its success unfortunately did nothing but expose them as they released turd after turd until their death. also, there has never been a good sonic game.

>What do you call a game that is both a boomer shooter and a metroidvania?Retro FPS, throwback FPS for newer games. Exploring complicated levels and unlocking them in parts is innate to these games. "Boomer shooter" is as self-insulting of a term as all other /vr/shit calling itself "bing bing wahoos" would be.
I have been searching for good replacement controller membranes for a while now. Everything I've tried have been crap. I've tried AliExpress, Console5 (which are just repacked AliExpress), Fleabay no name brands, all trash. I'm fairly sure only two different factories make every currently replacement membrane on the market from what I can tell because I only have seen 2 variations regardless of who I bought them from. Two weeks ago I got the jt-studios NES replacements, and finally we have a viable replacement. They have have 2 types, original and firm. I tired both, compared them to my best OEM Nintendo membranes and even against a 8bitdo controller. The original version feels like a fresh out the box NES controller, perfect stiffness and rebound. The stiff version also feel good but they are a bit stiff for me and the rebound feels sluggish somehow. I did play each membrane for 5ish hours before coming to my conclusion. Gonna order their SNES replacements as well since I got a few SNES controllers with torn membranes. Just wanted to share to save anons from crap out there. For the record I'm 50/50 on their braided replacement cords. I'd much rather a high quality rubber OEM style then the braided but they are OK if you need a replacement, haven't compared them to AliExpress offerings like I did the membranes though.
>>12024578>where's the replacement PC Engine controller membranesapparently nes replacements work with a little hackinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptWQ2YCKCIk
>>12024610They just don't feel right, it's a nightmare tbqh
>>12024191https://www.4chan.org/advertise
>>12024634you mean your originals or using nes ones? the buttons one looks like it might slide around, but the dpad looks good. probably just need higher quality replacements, than the junk you'd find on ali.
>>12024191For NES I used a cheap one with a cardboard spacer seemed good enough. Other times just cardboard with original membrane can make them feel nice. They should make one so you get something as good as the Snes d-pad but for nes and gameboy.I've replaced shells on Gameboy DMG, pocket and color. DMG turned out the best, diagonals fine for stuff like R-Type but not a floating feeling like on snes. Pocket was decent but I had to loosen the screws behind the buttons but its pretty playable. GB color, it works if you press a single direction but diagonals are not that good, particularly up and right only responds sometimes, if your trying to play R-Type and even then you have to press pretty hard. This was after loosening a screw at a time to get the best feel I can.>>12024537Dog bone feels a lot better.
Just got this game for 10 bucks at the local market. What am I in for?
>>12025186I bought it for 5 bucks like 6.years ago and idk if I've made it past the first level
About a decade ago, some Hispanic YouTubers shilled Armorines as the "Metroid for N64," and I never understood why. I’ve never played it and never will. As a kid, I spent countless hours enjoying Turok 2, GoldenEye, and Perfect Dark, and I prefer to preserve those good memories of the N64. There’s no need to revisit something that feels like a waste of time.
>>12025186the n64 version is bad and the ps1 one is considered worse
It's somewhat dickish in some ways like putting objectives on the high ceiling or making it so you need to shoot up to make a path over a hazardous area. Not only that the mid levels are a dark mess which you'll have trouble seeing anything in unless you want to use heat vision for everything. The game starts of solid, then gets bad with visibility, then becomes solid again when you can actually see in front of you, then you can see how it is rushed in the end. Some of the final levels are more corridor like compared to previous levels with less destructiblity. Then the biggest signal the final levels were rushed is that moving platforms will make you do odd things. One platform moves horizontally and goes back and forth from point A and B. When it makes its way back the entire platform gets flipped 180 degrees, and your character will flip with it so it's silly when you're trying to make a jump over the green sludge pit from that platform. Then you have platforms that are suppose to rise, and frequently when you first step on them you'll get launched 20 feet into the air. Possibly the max height that the platform goes up. Mind you, this happens in the final set of stages, but it is rushed. One of the bosses also got stuck and couldn't perform its next phase so it became invincible and forced me to reset the mission. It's hard for me to recommend, but it's still a FPS about alien bugs, so I understand.

Gen Xers had Donkey KongGen Yers had Super Mario Bros.Us, Gen Zers, however, had 2Battle.
>>12024958Oh don't be so naive, they absolutely were. Platformers were omnipresent. Sony made a point of it by having 3 major franchises get over a dozen games on a single console. They started to fall out of relevance shortly into the 7th generation. If anything the generic game of the 6th gen was still the platform action game, usually with a 3-hit-combo attack.
>>12024728'95 and can confirm.
>>12024965It's *somewhat* arbitrary but is defined by age groups, events and technological advances. I personally think that post-92 are proto-zoomers, they got social media as they got into secondary school.
>>12020962>2001 game>zoomerMillennials were the audience of this game
>>12025717Naive? Do you know what that word means?Anyway, by 6th gen platformers started mutating into 3rd person shooter hybrids, the genre just wasn't what kids wanted anymore. Kids didn't want to jump around surreal landscapes, they wanted to run around and shoot people on gritty urban settings.
Are there any games besides sin & punishment that do 'left position'?
Bangai O
>>12025856Goldeneye can and should played like this.
>>12025864>also a Treasure gamehuh
>>12025889And it makes more sense to play left position than S&P because all the buttons you need are there. For S&P you sill need A and B so I play it on right position
