I didn't expect I would like it when I stumbled upon a thread because horror is not my thing, but this was a very fun read.The ending fits the story, but I was expecting a little more catharsis, so it doesn't sit very well with me. It's an understandable choice, even if it effectively renders the series "for nothing" besides what Hina ultimately learned from the experience. There was never going to be a happy ending for Yuuma and she probably is full aware of that now which is why she's torn up about it but able to move on realizing the irony.

The way the mom's ghost attacked the stepmom and Takayanagi first and not the dad is strange and can be explained in various ways. Yuuma's odd comment to Hina makes the most sense to me if his mom tended to make excuses for her husband's behavior like a lot of DV victims do.
