I'm incredibly excited that we are diving back into the old republic. I liked the High Republic but the slow rollout of the era was unfortunate. Back to back RPGs for the old republic means we are going headfirst into the deep end. It's so exciting.

Given that the same company had been writing Sonic for decades using exclusively the fanfiction-tier, I can appreciate that they decided to inject some content from the source material in this one. Plus, in case you didn't notice, there was quite a lot of fanfiction happening even during the "official game" contents. There's nothing in the plot of MM1 about Mega Man getting worn down and feeling desperation, there's nothing in the plot of MM2 about Mega Man getting infected by a Wily virus that was warping his morality, etc. So I'm not sure exactly what you wanted to see.
