"Adam Watermen" was an identity he adopted to go to college to "learn more about fish". The line between Golden and Silver age Aquaman is blurry.

With actual personalities and built from the start to be the lovers of their respective male leads, they take on interesting roles. JO in particular is extremely important to Frank's character arc, and she stands out as her own character. While MJ's irregular appearances until the wedding make her character less defined. Spidey's problem is that many of the most “memorable” elements were never well written. The team never had a plan for anything, always pumping out material every month. With one thing and another being planned.
