I think a lot of it comes down to preference honestly, like 70s Batman books by Dennis o Neil and Neil Adam’s are pretty good and so are his 80s books with Alan Grant, Marv Wolfman, and Jim Starlin runs. I’ll always have a soft spot for the back to back Lee/Ditko/Romita Sr arcs in the 60s/70s, their emotional, have heart and sincerity, and no other spider run has really influenced the other like those have at least imho, I prefer this era of Spidey over Bats, I do think his 80s runs are pretty decent with Roger Stern being the main great highlight for me personally with Tom Defalco following suit, but he also had the Web of Spider Man run which also had some great stuff in it, for this era I would probably prefer Batman, he was going through way more harsh things like losing Batgirl and Robin and Marv Wolvman run helped flesh those things out with Tim Drake and stuff, it just hits harder for me I guess and Year One is some seriously fantastic stuff. I’m ngl, I’m not too familiar with their 90s/00s stuff, for this era I’d probably have to go Batman since at least Knightfall was really good and Robin had a decent ongoing, Spider Man was going through some seriously weird shit with the Clone Saga and Ben Reilly and personally I’ve never been *that* much of a fan of the Michelinie era but I get the nostalgia, but still not bad compared to what came after, at worst with Batman No Man’s Land is just “mid” and not offensively weird or bad, this was kind of the beginning of the end right here for both characters anyway though, I prefer Batman but I love both a lot, only other characters I’ve read nearly as much is just Superman and Thor
