What is better: a 14" or a 16" MacBook Pro? I can't decide. It's unironically too difficult to decide. On one hand, I would prefer the larger display, on the other hand I use my laptop exclusively when I can't use my PC to do something, which means I need a laptop for use around the house and carry it outside first and foremost. I absolutely do not want to use an external monitor almost ever though.

>uncomfortable to carry in a bag
have you considered going to the gym?
I've daily at 15.6" for a few years and had a 14" before that. The portability was nice but at the end of the day having a screen that is bigger is nicer, especially since you're just sitting it on a table and not carrying it while using it like a smartphone.
>>
>>107850908
>have you considered going to the gym?
I hate this meme. It has nothing to do with muscle, a big bulky laptop is just in the way, no matter how buff you are.
When I had a thin and light, it was always in my shoulder bag, because it didn't get in the way. Currently have a shitty gaming laptop (temporary) that's 15 inches and much thicker and heavier, it's annoying to carry around and I selectively only take it when I know I 100% need it, running into occasions where I could have used it but didn't have it with me quite often.
>>
>>107850908
PPI is more important IMO
I can just have it closer

>MBP
Tough choice, both are legit.
>more portable, on-the-go computing? 14"
>churn performance to the most? 16"
If the question is MBA, very easy. Always go 13" (15" is kinda wasteful)
My personal rule is:
-only own one laptop: 14" with decent specs
-own two laptops: 12/13" detachable/ultrabook with bare minimum specs & 16" maxed out workstation (assume won't own a desktop)

>>107850705
Heavy, not really. MBP problem is a bit more of dimension than weight. 16" MBP isn't much heavier than 14" MBP. Most compact bags could fit 14" MBP easily while 16" might not.
If you can carry around typical big gaming laptop around. 16" MBP is fucking nothing. Some brands offer bags/backpacks specifically designed for MacBook in mind, choices are plenty.

what amp do i need to power these speakers so they will be loud. i am using a sony 200watt amp right now. it sends 100 watts to each tower speaker. and they still aren't loud enough. can someone link me to a more powerful amp for home ? i also tried a rockville 1000 watt amp and that didn't work. i feel like these speakers should be getting louder at lower volumes.

>These floor-standing speakers will handle a ton of power at 150W
If this is RMS rating then you need an amp closer to 300w per channel. At least 250w.

>the display takes longer to react to a signal and turn itself on than the POST screen is displayed so I can't see the screen when booting
>have to fiddle with the menus on the display while rebooting my PC so the display doesn't turn off and I can see which key to press
Sometimes technology is cumbersome.

Regular coke is better than American coke, high fructose corn syrup makes American coke taste like shit. Just use sugar like in every normal country for fucks sake.
>>
>>107850843
>>107850836
>>107849345
Real coca cola uses sugar. Corn syrup is a cost saving measure in the US due to how cheap it is there. And yes, there is a taste difference between corn syrup and sugar coke. Anyone claiming corn syrup coke tastes is just outing themselves as an American that's accustomed to things sweetened with corn syrup.

There's a taste difference between a lot of natural syrups and pure granulated sugar even though they're technically all fructose and glucose in close to the same ratio. But the syrups still have the natural flavors from whatever source they're made from while sugar is just pure sugar crystals. Go to a store and buy agave, maple, corn, cane, birch, palm, etc. syrups and taste them. They're all sweet but do have their own distinct taste. Now make some simple syrup from white sugar and that's just sweet.

How come C# isn't more popular when it's basically Java but better? Is it because people distrust a language maintained by Microsoft, or does the JVM have non-obvious but crucial advantages over the CLR?

I had the unfortunate experience of seriously giving the .NET 9 or whatever NativeAOT features a try like ~8 months ago and it was just genuinely unusable. Soooooo much does not yet work.
Graal, on the other hand, generally supports most use cases; even heavy reflection and stuff, you can just let it profil firt and do most of it for you and/or just pre-define some rules like you would if you were to use an obfuscator like Proguard, ZKM, etc.

It's really not... I'm going Threadripper on my next build for more flexibility (cores, PCIE lanes, etc). Consumer hardware has plateaued and they're really not gonna give us more than a few little speedups going forward.

If you just browse and do your homework my PC would be more than enough, but when it comes to total compute it's falling behind fast... hell, even my high-end 4090 feels like the minimum spec these days with new games running like ass without DLSS maxed out (~240p to 4K).

The truer point is that we have pretty good games that run on mid tier hardware from current year

most games arent some path tracing only showcases of future tech, and if they're visually mediocre and arent made on unreal 5 they run at 60fps at 1440p on kinda shit hardware using dlss

microsoft has been retiring many outdated components and one of those components was exploited by outdated offline activation method.
did microsoft retire it only because of activation exploit? nobody knows but most likely not.

>send the ID of the computer plus its current installed edition to MS's activation servers and gets them to add the ID to the activation server no strings attached
Yeah but I'm talking about a fresh laptop here, no prior activations. So isn't it quite obvious that microsoft could just start blocking new registrations on their servers? Up until this point I've assumed they simply don't care and wouldn't want to cause angry hordes by blocking it.
>>
>>107850988
It doesn't matter if the laptop is fresh or not, it'll activate fine all the same.

It won't if microsoft changes their servers and decides to block unauthorized hardware ID activations.
