>>106530291Retarded reason to pick a distro, distro is literally just a pick your maintainer who packages software for you to download and install, nothing else. You'll still be using woke x11 or wayland or GNOME or KDE or systemd or pipewire or freedesktop software or even the kernel itself which is "woke" by definition of having code of conduct and black people on their site, and you'll be using browsers like firefox or chromium that are woke and ublock origin that is woke, it's just fucking retarded. Use windows like normal people or Ubuntu or some shit that works
Oh boy you picked the wrong fucking time to make this thread.I spent 4 years using tumbleweed and watched it erode to a unusable barely functioning piece of shit within the past year and a half the following has happened>More package breakages>Zero mantainince or even care regarding syncing the nvidia free drivers with the correct cuda version (Many distros of similar size and smaller have done this)>Poor planning and half assed measure to remove yast with other tools poorly cobbled together making a poor user experience >overall poor integration with KDE features like discover>Slow as fuck package manager because like most things they don't actually fix it but move it around praying that everyone will forget it, perhaps they shouldn't have chased away their talent?>Stealth replacing neofetch with the tranny variant without having the balls to give it's proper name and use the original projects name in the packages and callThere is zero reason to use this piece of shit in it's fractured broken state, there even seems to be less devs present with the increase of broken packages and lack of maintenanceI moved to fedora where shit doesn't break every 2 weeks for me.

Transformer AI has.Until someone makes a better model, it will forever be fucking around with values that maybe give slightly better generation times, maybe beat a pointless benchmark and cost a mansion to do so.Deepseek was the only major change in recent times that resulted in a huge boost to generation speeds.Chain of Thought isn't revolutionary - half the fucking time the models ignore their steps, and I was doing that shit manually way back on Character AI, it's the same damn model going schizo with itself but automated.I can typically get better outputs WITHOUT the CoT being on, which is why ChatGPT5 sucks particularly bad due to its automatic mode switching. They really fucked up with it.Don't even get me started on AI Agents, most of the time they ignore their own fucking API calls or send back malformed shit, then have catastrophic breakdowns.

is e/os/ actually degoogled or do you have to use SOMETHING from google for it to work properly with all the day to day apps etc? or am i better off with graphene (i'm looking at fairphone because it's a better idea than googel pixel)
Is there a phone out there that has just all of the features but not too an amazong standard? I want something cheapish but I want it to have everything, headphone jack, RF blaster, pressure sensor, thermometer, etc etc. Everything. But I don't need it to have an amazing cpu, or screen. That being said are there any good e-ink phones? I love e-ink on my ereader so if there are phone equivalents id like to see them.
i'm looking at getting a new motorola since they seem to be one of the few manufacturers still including a 3.5 jack and sd slot. i like the g stylus since it has more ram than the standard g model, plus a snapdragon compared to the rest of the lineup having a dimensity. i dunno how much i would actually use the stylus though, and the standard moto g is fairly cheaper. wat do?im currently rocking a 7 year old moto e5 with 2gb of ram so anything would be a serious upgrade at this point.

unpopular pc opinion: DLSS4 and Framegen are like a magical 3x framerate button with minimal visual degradationI'm talking 40 FPS at native to 130+ with both. The latency isn't even bad, and the visuals are only noticeably degraded by DLSS's upscaling. The AI fake frames I haven't been able to notice even pixel peeping.
>>106532651DLSS is only good if the game heavily relies on TAA and the devs did not even attempt to try with their native TAA method. This is common for Unreal Engine 5 titles and developers.Framegen is bad no matter what. The latency can be mitigated somewhat but you can never get around the artifacts and additional overhead. AI can be good in some scenarios like CPU prefetch does a lot of black magic in huge datasets but in random scenarios / fast movements you encounter lots of cache misses and that hurts prefetch and AI.
>>106532509that’s a very extreme example of how fast a monitor will burn in, 8 hours a day of static content
>>106532651Yeah the latency isnt even bad because the few games that support FG already have bad latency to begin with

>>106523919they've been posted already itt, it's basically just Arch without systemd.>>106532629You can use the Arch repos (extra, multilib) on Artix, and the AUR usually works fine as well, I've never had any issues with it.
>>106532629every dev hardcoding their program for systemd should be shot in the head. Imagine gatekeeping your shit program behind redhat and excluding alternate init systems and bsd users.
>>106532748>You can use the Arch repos (extra, multilib) on ArtixI know>, and the AUR usually works fine as well, I've never had any issues with itUntil it doesn't because of dependency on systemdI really had no time to learn how to convert systemd service scripts to dinit(i found later though https://github.com/mobin-2008/systemd_to_dinit_converter/), so i had to reinstall into Arch that nightThe only other nitpick was no easy support for steam and nvidia proprietary driver(after installer you have mesa driver, so it causes more time tinkering to make it work)Otherwise alright distro, i may convert back later once my system shits itself
>>106532708>potentially a pain in the ass on ArtixDepending on the program, you will have to install its init package (eg cronie and cronie-openrc) and then enable the service with sudo 'rc-update add cronie default' (or the init equivalent). It's pretty straightforward.
>>106532804Only straight forward if the init version of the package exists. If not you have to manually the service script yourself. I ran into this more than a few times using runit.
