How is this possible? My wife who knows nothing about operating systems installed Steam easily and everything else she needed. That machine even has an Nvidia GPU, but Ubuntu automatically installed the drivers when it was installed.

Does anyone use RX 9060 XT and play CS2 on Linux? I have a gaming laptop and thinking about building a budget PC with the GPU and an AMD CPU, but wondering how would this game work there. On my gaming laptop with Nvidia driver I can see clearly differences in fps in favor of Windows, wondering whether there's a difference in fps between AMD GPU

SmartOS. It's rock solid, has piss easy updates, inherits a great base system from Solaris, is immutable and runs entirely in RAM, great package selection and an easy build sysyem in native zones due to using NetBSD pkgsrc, easy to reallocate resources on the fly, bhyve HVMs actually run better than on FreeBSD. Runs circles around Proxmox.https://it-notes.dragas.net/2025/09/19/freebsd-vs-smartos-whos-faster-for-jails-zones-bhyve/

Why does the red button not kill the application? Windows and linux have solved this problem for over 40 years. What is the use case of hiding a window and not actually killing the process? was steve jobs gay, retarded, or both?
>>107009752>Not many programs work like this, do you have an example? Most office suites, including libreoffice, still work that way. I am not arguing against tabs or multi-document interfaces. I'm just making a case for the macOS approach to the red button being the right one, or at least informed by a consistent philosophy of how programs should behave. It's not a novelty for novelty’s sake or Steve Jobs being “gay.”>currently i have my browser, discord, vscode, my terminal, a music player, and a pdf reader open. You do copy/paste between any two of them, right? I know I have dragged and dropped code snippets or images from pdfs into discord chats, more or less doing the same thing as someone dragging an .AIFF file to a hypercard stack in 1990. So the metaphor still holds - virtual scrapbooking between two virtual documents.>>107009801>When you start a program, do you expect no ui to open, just the top bar to change and then you decide to click on new document? This is not what macOS does, at all. Or what this thread is about. It's about behavior on closing that's being debated- or rather the fact that many people conflate "close document" with "exit program" when they are two very different things.
>>107010122>So the metaphor still holds - virtual scrapbooking between two virtual documents.I mean if you want to extend the meaning of "document" that far, sure, but to me the window still isnt representing a document in most of my applications' cases, its representing the program. Whatevers in the tab or pane or whatever could be considered a "document". Its getting into semantics though at this point, so like whatever dude. And if libreoffice does that then fine.anyway lets be clear here: steve jobs IS gay and the entire dieter rams inspired obfuscatory design philosophy is filth. Few people accelerated us more towards slop and away from true ownership than that group.

How many images should I have ideally if I wanna make a lora for an OC? Does the actual amount of images even matter anymore?
>>107011202Hmmm I don't think it matters all too much really! I think the last time I made one was like 40~50 images or soI think the general rule is you don't want too little or too much, and depending on what you're going for, not too much variationDon't quote me on that though! It's been a long time for me so i'm not exactly certain haha!I kinda wanna make another one, that'd be fun

What is going on at FUTO?
>>107009423all or nothing behavior is a common thread with extremists of all stripes. It's why they ultimately never accomplish anything. if they can't have absolute purity in their ranks, they would rather take off the uniforms and become nazis themselves. Purity Spirals are the best way to destroy any and all extremism because they all fall for it.that's why when you want to do anything that isn't explicitly approved by the US Government, you have a mysterious subset of posters calling you a glownigger jew and measuring the size of your nose.
>>107009423It's "funny" how a federated/disperse opposition can be undermined by 'convenient dissidents' just because there's no hierarchy and it's rejected, unlike companies and companies associated to keep the garden under control. And people still thinks that being socially destructive (should I say "deconstructive"?) is a virtue. Western culture needs to do critic to create a 'revision-way', not a simple 'alt' that is breeding ground for more radicalization.
>>107009461It's also "funny" how with all of these projects are founded on the concept of no hierarchy and fought having any leader or group of inner personnel who could dictate how people used or contributed at all, they all immediately adopted a hierarchy that put outsiders who knew nothing about the project at the very top with the project to destroy even key members of any project. All done when these projects were asked 'very nicely' by special interest groups ran by big tech companies. To the point where projects that didn't adopt one were shadowbanned and ousted.
>>107009461> Western culture needs to do critic to create a 'revision-way', not a simple 'alt' that is breeding ground for more radicalization. The alts get started because there is no other path on the 'accepted' political spectrum. It's the old adage, when peaceful revolution becomes impossible violent revolution becomes inevitable. Every single Alt are a bunch of losers who want the worst things to happen to their political opponents and they gain power because LIbs and Cons have become mirrors of one another. Each one only stand for how much money they can stuff into their pockets from corruption, they have no principles or morals. If they did Libs would have never accepted the Big Tech surveillance state and Cons would have fought tooth and nail to keep the Government from being able to use Big Tech's resources without a warrant. The only people saying that this is a bad thing are the alts. None of the shitlibs or Conservacucks give a shit as long as their retarded bribes keep coming in.

Do normalfags still use Chrome after it killed uBlock?
>>107011148>>107011147
This change was what got me to finally ditch Chrome after using it for over a decade. I'm on Firefox now and it sucks lol
i've been meaning to try the ai browsers like comet, atlas, and arc. which ones the superior of the three?
>>107010735Normalfags have no idea about ad blocking to begin with. I was visiting a friend, 32 years old, has two children. He turns on the TV, turns on the Youtube app, he hits play on some video, there's an add and you can only skip it after about 45 seconds. He waits, staring at the screen, then skips it. Maybe 3 minutes into the video, another ad starts playing, this time you can skip it after 30 seconds. Same thing, he watches it and then skips. I don't say anything, to him this is perfectly normal.
I tried chrome recently again and with ublock lite I don’t see ads and with scriptcat I installed the 4chan-xt script. Everything works like in Firefox. I think I’m gonna stay on chrome now
