I find it hilarious that all of their attempts to make colorspace handing "smarter" has completely backfired, and now mpv is utterly incapable of displaying correct gamma by default, forcing everyone to disable all forms of colorspace-hint and manually adjust contrast ratio until they just revert everything from the past 2-3 months.There's a reason why mpv never touched gamma on anything except HDR sources. It's almost as if SDR gamma is completely ambiguous and most people don't care about it... Even mplayer has a less washed out picture than mpv now.
