ITT we share helpful firefox user_prefs that make it better. I'll start.
user_pref("full-screen-api.transition-duration.enter", "0 0");

This removes the annoying banner saying press ESC to exit fullscreen every time you fullscreen a yt video.

user_pref("browser.engagement.downloads-button.has-used", true);
With this in your user.js before you open the browser it won't popup instructions on obvious features. I have a pretty big user.js based on betterfox that disables telemetry and toggles all the settings the way I like them so it's completely configured on install without doing anything, and then I've added a bunch of minor quality of life conveniences like these. I have my taskbar switched to autohide in win 11. When I switch FF to full-screen, moving the mouse to the bottom of the screen doesn't activate the taskbar. Does anyone know how to fix this?

What’s up with all the anti Windows 7 posts lately?

I switched from Gentoo to Windows 7 Platinum a few weeks ago, and I haven’t had a single issue so far.

It’s noticeably faster than any DE or WM I’ve tried, which honestly surprised me, especially considering I’m running an RTX 5090.

At first, I was worried about security and getting hacked. But it turns out I can install a fully up to date browser and a modern firewall, so that’s no longer a concern.

It’s also much easier to use overall. The UI is consistent, clear, and easy to read. Because of that, I installed it on my girlfriend’s laptop and my parents’ PC as well and they’re really happy with it.

I genuinely don’t understand why some people are so strongly opposed to it, especially considering the massive influx of AI generated packages Linux distros have seen in recent months.

Pre-2020 we used to have frequent threads about how to extended and customize Windows 7 and 8.1, because pretty much everyone could recognize how shit Windows 10 was at the time.
Sometime after coof started, this board became inundated with jeet bots, schizos, and microshills who would immediately flood any thread attempting to discuss legacy versions of Windows. It was ridiculously inorganic, and it was how "muh baby duck" got spammed into this boards vernacular.
At least now there's some push back against the shills and spammers, and projects like vxkex and second system are improving every day, with support now extending to 8 and Vista too. And if zoomers are getting encouraged by an eceleb or whatever to abandon microshaft's latest AI hellscape, then honestly more power to them.

Not for any particular purpose, but I like collecting identity leaks (usernames, emails, etc.) and would like to consolidate everything into a single DB so that duplicated data across multiple torrents isn't taking up as much space as it currently is.
That said, I'm not a big DB guy and wondering if there's a particularly good choice for this task. I'm imagining I'd like something like a primary key be some UUID that then has columns for username arrays, email arrays, and then other general info that might be found. Not sure if I care about uname:pword mappings. Also not sure if I'd want to redo my data model at some point in the future as I work on it. Performance isn't a great concern, but it would be great if it had good on-disk compression when the dataset is entirely short text entries.

Also, what the fuck is with these captchas?
Is there any particular database that would be good for this?

Alright, so, the current SSD I have in my desktop tower already has an operating system installed onto it (Xubuntu.) I plan to install Arch Linux onto a new SSD. Eventually, I am going to want to put the files from the old SSD onto my new SSD, so I have no intentions of wiping it. I plan on unplugging the old SSD during my install so I do not wipe it. Right now, I am reading the Arch Wiki for installation instructions before I install. I am currently deciding my partitioning scheme. I plan to use a separate /boot partition for my bootloader. However, I have noted that the old SSD with Xubuntu has a /boot partition, too. When I re-plug the new SSD after Arch installation, will it freak out on boot? Or will I have to delete the /boot partition before I install Arch on the new SSD.

My dad wants a small windows tablet to replace his old, sluggish Surface Pro 3. Basically an UMPC with no keyboard.
In my opinion that's kind of retarded considering Windows 11 is not exactly nice to use with a touchscreen alone. Usually for these devices I would at least want to have a stylus of some sort.
Anyways the closest thing I've seen to something powerful yet fairly affordable for him, and small (8.8''), is the Lenovo Legion Go. I particularly thought of this because I struggle to find actual UMPCs or small tablets, and you can detach the controllers on this one.
Is there any alternative to this?

If you're looking for in-ears it's probably better to ask /iemg/ but regardless:

All of these are as good as you'll get with in ears as far as tuning and distortion goes. Also get an Apple dongle so you can use these via the lightning port on your Iphone. If you want wireless then just get Moondrop Space Travel II. Airpods are also decent but you're getting worse out of the box tuning albeit with way better ANC.

hi, today i bought the sony WH-1000XM6, finally giving rest to my old monoprice 108323,
i wanted to share a photo of their current state,

some of the things they had to go through, the hinges broke really fast i made them with a 3d printer i made, the wire inside them also broke multiple times, at one point it was too small to keep fixing it so i used one that had from another pair of headphones one of the drivers also stoped working when i open it i found the copper coil was out so i just put it back on and glued.

Looking around have you disabled apps running in the background? Apparently that can stop programs appearing in Search.
You could also just switch over to Everything and EverythingToolbar and replace Windows Search completely.

Is there any way I can fix this? Tried DISM and sfc, whatever I could, and the issue still persists. Also happens with classic Snipping Tool I backported from Windows 10 whenever I try to save a screenie, no issues with Wordpad, classic Paint, WMP legacy and probably other win32 applications though.

What gives?

What would be considered the ideal screen resolution for laptops with 13"-14" displays? I've seen 4K but that seems overkill.
