honestly its just more fun to say i stole it. new job sent a wide email basically saying "we finally got an e-waste contract; we are setting out everything we are throwing away anyway in a certain area and yes you are allowed to pinch stuff in fact we encourage it for the good of the planet to recycle and because we pay by the pound" so I picked up a nice keyboard and some random ancilliary junk. naturally at my desk i have a proper dock set up with company assets

i was very tempted to take home a literal server but that ass is heavy for pretty bad performance

I know NOTHING about speakers, but I do need a set for my desk area.
I tried doing a cursory bit of research, but the speakers community seems rather convoluted and autistic and susceptible to snake oil.
What speakers do you have? Do you recommend them? What features should I care about if I 'just' want to listen to 'music'? Do I need stands? Right now I'm looking at the Ai41, as my budget is like $300.

Why do people think 8k will actually be a thing? Don’t they understand the concept of bandwidth and ppi?
2 replies omitted. Click here to view.
>>
The problem is that no content is being made in 8K.
All the good classic movies can go up to 4K max and that depends on how they were filmed.
>>
>>106505496
All movies ever made on film were in true color 8k+

4k is actually worse than all the shit from the 5s (the sound mixing was better as well).

>>106505551
It was all 8k before it went digital.
Digital was always regressive technology in the context of picture quality.

During the Y2K scare, they brought a ton of them in to do the grunt work to add extra digits to the year because apparently your microwave going from 99 to 00 was going to make it think it was 1900 and stop working or something ridiculous. They kept them long after it passed, gave them green cards, and they started bringing their villages over.

unironically thinking of building a startup making "portable computers" specifically for IT jannies
>just buy a bunch of chinkpads
>design and 3d print a new sub-chassis to fit extra ports/cards (if even necessary), maybe some edgy "ruggedization" corner bits or rudimentary waterproofing
>add extra network card, gpio breakout board, extra audio card, an integrated SDR, all the various toys that come up maybe once a decade at work but larpers love
>sell it preloaded with W10 LTSC and Ubuntu
12.04
dual-boot and a few common utilities (wireshark with the BT/USB driver extensions, PuTTY meme edition, a virtual audio cable, the actual latest PS version instead of the janky versions of 3 corpos use, default wallpaper of a legally distinct big titty anime hag, etc)
>package it with some common display/audio/usb adapters and other physical junk you always need and can never remember where you put, maybe with an attractive carrying case

>maybe have a Version B that's just an ITX computer in a pelican case with the screen set in the lid, the ports exposed, and rubber grommets for everything for the tacticool larpers

what are the myriad ways this could fail

DCA Aeon Open. Either RT or X. X is cheaper but you'll dealing with Drop then, not DCA. They're very good but you need a capable amplifier that can supply at least 700 mv of power for 94dB SPL.

The magnetic scroll wheel is the key defining feature and it's the best scroll wheel I've ever used. Just flicking it and playing with it is fun. Theoretically, can you completely de-India your computer by only using software without any Indian commits? Linus removed all Russian code from the Linux kernel, so something like this is certainly doable.

What's a good base to start with for building a non-Indian OS under a free licence? Arch?

Do you know what makes the iPhone run smoothly? Because Apple locks the CPU frequency to maximum even during low usage, it seems like iOS doesn't even have a CPU governor at all, unlike Android with schedutil or walt, which lower the CPU frequency to the lowest possible value during low usage operation.

Okay, that's good enough.

Anyone use a visibility buffer approach instead of a traditional deferred pipeline. The tldr is you write the triangle and object id to the display. Then when shading you can just do vetex pulling to get all the info you need. The advantage is you need less memory bandwidth. I'm going to try it. I like experimental techniques

I don't see anything in the source that would suggest that this is possible. It reaches out to jsdelivr for some css, but thats about it.
>>
>>106505075
>It reaches out to jsdelivr for some css
cdns are massive attack vectors silly
thats why google basically disincentivized their use entirely
it used to be
>load the resource from a CDN so every user can have it from their cache!!!!!!!!
now its rewarded if you do this instead
>deliver it yourself from your server!!!!!
>more secure, less network request authing!!!!!!!
>>
>>106505107
In this particular case what could the CSS do?
>>
>>106505324
well a pdf file can make a web request in the background most people dont know that. basically anything youre not controlling the source of is a vulnerability. letting anyone serve some resource you can just as easily host yourself is needless
even css can be an attack vector if a browser bug is hit with a 0day
>things people never share publicly unless paid millions of dollars, which then gets massively exploited
