It's not actually FUD though, loads of people are reporting the issue.

It doesn't seem to affect everyone though but it's a real issue.

>>106499812
I'd expect if they can figure out what's wrong then the September update will fix the issue
>>
>>106499816
So far they've denied there's even a problem altogether, but I wouldn't surprised if an update silently fixes it and they just don't mention it again.

Rarely do you ever see a hard question on the internet answered with "I don't know". It is simply not in the training set and even if it were, like if humans did such a thing habitually, this would expose the inherent weakness of LLMs.

Thanks for the link.
Yea, 1 year is a very conservative estimate but there are a few things that I want to do. I still want to get better at typing on my current keyboard and see if my preferences change. I'm still optimizing my layers etc. and have to decide whether I need the number row, or the outer keys. I might even go with a design that has a single outer pinky key instead of either 3-4 or none.
I wanted to practice soldering on some easier projects, maybe also learn about 3d printing.
Some of that isn't necessary to just get a keyboard quickly but I hope it's also fun to do.
>>
>>106499155
I hear you. I recently switched to a 42-key dactyl myself (36 + 3x2 thumbs), and to my surprise I found that using numbers and symbols on a layer via a modifier is not so bad. In a way, it's intuitive, and I learned the positions the minute I mapped them (since it was I who mapped them and they immediately made sense to me). Even though I am probably only a little faster with a dedicated number row, I felt more "confident" with a dedicated row as well, if that makes sense. I had to type a couple of regexes that looked like this today
>\"1.4\"
and it's just juggling with fucking modifiers, a pain in the ass. It's bad enough for me to want to make a seperate mapping for the backward slash + quote combo. Or maybe even make a toggle layer for numbers & symbols.
That said, in a certain way, typing symbols and numbers got easier somehow too, in ceratain situations. It's hard to explain. I put all the important symbols on the same split side as the modifier, and it's easier to type "occasionally" than when they were on separate sides. Even somehow better than having a dedicated pinkie. I think I just need to give it more time, as I have been on this only for like a month, to gain the confidence. Will be glad to hear from others of their experiences on symbols and numbers, especially from programmers and vim users.
People also shill homerow mods, but I kind of dislike those, I need my typing experience to be rubust, and hate even thinking about delays.
As for pinkies, I don't think I can survive without at least 4 outer buttons (enter/backspace/quote/tab).
Also check out Apiaster for inspiration, I haven't made it myself, but the docs are dope, and it has a splayed number row.

Peace

You mean make a Windows boot USB manually on Mac? You gotta make the USB FAT32 formatted firstly then mount the ISO and move all the files besides the sources folder into the USB. Then make a sources folder and move everything in there besides the install.wim file. Then install Homebrew if you haven't to install wimlib to your system then use that to split the install.wim into two files so it'll fit properly on the FAT32 filesystem. Then you can just unmount the USB and have a boot USB that'll work properly made in a Mac.

It's open source, the source was just linked above.
Do you not know what proprietary is?
You can take the source, and change it in any way you want for yourself. You can learn from it as well. That is open source and the power of it.
>>
>>106499549
If it is impossible to compile source code into binaries, it is not open source. It ends up as different application with different features. It is not reproducible so it is proprietary. Also the license is proprietary. If proprietary software has "source available" proprietary license and doesn't even have reproducible binaries, then it is proprietary.
>>
>>106499565
that's just not reproducible binary, nothing to do with a source of a project.
Some languages even have issues doing this.
>>
>>106499573
Software is open source only if it meets all OSI criteria, allows unrestricted modification/redistribution, and enables reproducible binaries for verification (per community standards like F-Droid). Grayjay violates OSI criteria with its proprietary license, restricts modification/distribution, and lacks reproducible binaries (resulting in different, unverifiable software). Therefore, Grayjay is proprietary software. It's controlled by a proprietary corporation (FUTO) that enforces restrictions.

You keep repeating how "You can take the source" (no you can't because the actual Grayjay's source code is not available 1:1), "and change it in any way you want" (no you can't because proprietary corporation FUTO prevents you to do that), "You can learn from it as well" (impossible because the source code is not for the Grayjay, it is for some similar application that has different features) "That is open source" (false) "and the power of it." (it has zero power to be or do anything).
>>
>>106499653
