Welcome to the 4chan /g/ Usenet General Thread!

>What is /usenet/?
Open standard protocols still exist and are what the internet was built on (http, irc, rss, ftp, etc). Not owned by corpos, not under govt control, and are accessible to anyone with an internet connection. They simply exist to be built upon and enjoyed by all.
Some, like FTP are outdated and insecure. Others, like rss, irc, http, usenet are still glorious and wonderful open standards. Join us and discuss such topics on one such protocol:
NNTP, aka usenet.

>WTF IS USENET
Literally it means the Users Network. It’s an open protocol for posting and reading messages, organized by newsgroups. It's entirely decentralized, no single server, impossible to take down.
Today it is split between, binaries and text. The binaries part is what it’s known for today: piracy. The text part is forgotten and abandoned, until now.

>WHY POST ON USENET
It's open protocol, you can use any client you want or build you own. No costs, no subscriptions, no money. You can sign up through your ISP, or through eternal-september.org. Then you just need to install a client.

>THIS IS OLDER THAN MY DAD. WHY TF WOULD I DO THIS?

The only reason to fuck with balanced in current year is if you have a cheap portable source with not enough volume.
>>
>>106993886
You sure that's not just down to using a separate amplifier per channel, which the 4-pin keeps separate, but the 3-pin ties together to a common ground?
>>
>>106985217
Kek, classic Chinese.
Why not 2Hz-9000000000000000000000000000001KHz?
>>
>>106993059
I'm feeling like that with my Portapros. I do know that they aren't the best headphones but I enjoy listening to music at low volumes and so far I haven't found any other who have a pleasant and dry bass at low volumes. They're not audiophile shit but they're fun headphones and I love them for that.
>>
>>106994105
I mean, that's what a balanced amp is supposed to do. Not sure what you're getting at.

It has 2 amps per channel. The unbalanced output uses a common ground which increases crosstalk compared to the balanced output.

can someone explain how KDE is safe to transfer files between a phone and a pc ? i mean i know it connect to your WLAN, so if someone want to see what was sent, they need to hack into your WLAN or have a backdoor?
>>
>>106994002
it's a bit meh. i only know what i found on a couple of google links, but the 4060 is gimped beyond normal mobile 4060. i suppose the price is "fair market value"
>>
>>106994051
Also, it is my first time buying an AMD processor, but I have heard they are good on PC now.
Do they also hold on laptops?
>>
>>106994028
They would need to have compromised your WLAN before you set up KDE connect so they could capture the keys exchanged during the pairing process. After that everything is encrypted with those keys. You can defeat that with a 50 cent aliexpress USB Ethernet adapter if you really want. It's reasonably secure but it's not serious business either. They keep it on LAN for a reason.

Syncthing exists if you want secure for general internet file sharing.
>>
>>106994061
they're generally far more power efficient which means they run cooler which means they throttle less plus they're so much cheaper. Some incompatibilities but nothing too big a deal

I may bluff my way into 2 remote jobs related to QA automation and I dont even know how to code, how fucked am I if I actually get them?

One is for a popular no code automation tool but still has some learning curve, and the other is mostly api automation with some mobile automation.

Can I make it relying 100% on ai tools like chatgpt? I literally dont know how to code at all or use an IDE. Shit I probably cant do manual api testing. I already started studying the tool but the other one is gonna be tougher to pull off. And before you ask, I’m passing the interviews with ai.
>>
>>106993952
Yeah, don't worry too much. No one has any high expectations for QA.
>>
>>106993989
Bullshit lol, the fuck am I gonna say if theyre expecting automated scripts from me that i cant deliver?

I estimate im gonna get fired in less than 2 months, shit sucks because manual testing jobs have dissappeared and now everyone expects you to also know automation even if the job doesnt actually needs it
>>
>>106993952

Looking at an X1C and it has these CPU options:
i5-1135G7
i5-1145G7 with vPro
i7-1165G7
i7-1185G7 with vPro
First of all I don't know what the fuck vPro is so I think I don't need it. I'm assuming i5 is best for battery life so i5-1135G7 would be good for me?
>>

Scary KVM type remote control using the Intel ME
>i5 is best for battery life
Usually doesn't hold for mobile CPUs with the same core count such as these. i7 should be able to do the same work using less power than i5.

My manic episodes always involve code. in 2009. I was having visions of an algorithm that I did not know how to write yet. 2017 was all about recursion and then 2022 was all about shell scripting. You do not want to see the script that I wrote right before I went to the psych ward. I can’t share it here because I’d get arrested.
