Why fool around with junk like Rust when Ada exists and has decades of quality libraries and best practices solidly defined? The world need reliable and secure software built using a technology stack that make inefficient programming difficult. Ada is everything Rust claims it is trying to be but with far more experience behind it.
Makes one wonder why Rust even exists and what they're really trying to accomplish because if it were just their stated goals, they would have used Ada instead of demanding everyone use something entirely different that is still under development and unstable.

>Ada has runtime. It can't compile it into a freestanding code.
False. Bare metal runtime systems exist for Ada and are already supplied with GNAT/GCC.
Ada is actually superior to Rust for freestanding code.
>>
>>108411638
>which you don’t have to use
You have to. You can't compile Ada to a freestanding binary without runtime.

>>108412209
Well, limited types is a big topic and honestly I don't remember all the things about them. I was thinking about constrained(?) integers which do not have nice counterpart in Rust. Still can be done, but so you can have "generics" in C with void pointers. There is just no nice language level support for them.

>>108412725
Wrong. Ada doesn't have a freestanding self hosted core subset like Rust. You still need to provide runtime glue written in C or asm to execute any ada code on bare metal systems. This makes Ada more similar to python(see micropython)

>>108412257
Feel free to prove me wrong.

Pro tip: you can't.
>>
>>108413416
>constrained(?) integers
lol. that's what actually came to my mind first. but then i looked the term up and found it meant something else in ADA world.
what i originally wanted to write is that you can do that in rust (e.g. NWrap<N, const MIN: N, const MAX: N>). in fact, this would be equal or "beat" anything you have with languages, especially once const generic expressions (for when extra layers of bounds/abstractions are needed) and const traits (fully idiomatic expanded const construction and ops support) are fully implemented and stabilized.
basically, the only real serious competitor to rust atm...is future rust ;)
but hey, i'm willing to play along and use the great ADA libraries >>108408421 says exist. just point me to the trusty ADA-native QUIC implementation (with multipath and address discovery support), and i will start writing code utilizing it come tomorrow. pinky promise.

Yea, but that has to be implemented manually, and it won't play nicely with things like exhaustive pattern matching. And, this is beyond my personal experience with Ada, but I'm pretty sure static analysis tools(maybe even Spark) can leverage these constrains while validating the correctness. But we would need insight from someone more experienced in Ada I guess.

>basically, the only real serious competitor to rust atm...is future rust ;)
Oh that's for sure. Ada has some similar goals but it was made decades too early and used nearly exclusively for proprietary software to have any relevance nowadays.

>but hey, i'm willing to play along and use the great ADA libraries
Read the reply chain. I said Ada has very few libraries compared to Rust.

>>108413309
Depends entirely on the game and the resources available on your machine. In theory, all of that should be swapped out of memory and have low background priority when your game is running, but in reality most modern software has bad manners and will do inane shit in the background if your OS lets it.
>>
>>108413309
If you have some video open in a browser then it can mess with your monitor(s) in various ways, such as HDR and refresh rate.
>>
>>108413309
if you are trying to extract every single possible frame out, yes, but this is usually pointless. typically you have a target framerate that looks good to you (i have very low standards and for me it's 45fps) and you balance that with convenience. as long as your framerate stays at or above your target during heavy scenes you probably don't need to close things unless they're causing issues (and the only thing i've found to cause issues is trying to screenshare in discord while i'm in a game while gsync is on). if it dips below that and you aren't willing to reduce the game's settings in some way, check which hardware is bottlenecking and then close whatever might be contributing (if it's ram, close tabs, if it's gpu, close videos, etc).

also if you aren't using vsync (i.e. if you're using gsync/equivalent or if you're just not using a sync solution) make sure to set a global fps cap so your computer isn't trying to crank out every single possible frame it can and using unnecessary resources and generating unnecessary heat.
>>
>>108413712
oh, note that gsync won't have this issue but you still want a framerate cap a little ways below your refresh rate, forgot to mention

>still no legitimate use for crypto """currency""" besides gambling and drugs
When will crypto bros understand that you need to be able to buy normal things with crypto for anyone to take it seriously? Monero actually had a legitimate value proposition but the community has utterly failed at creating an economy for it of regular goods/services.

>>
>>108395859
Tbh for most people paying with crypto, especially monero, it's just inconvenient. Because when you're buying with fiat you're integrating yourself to the full system, and that is beneficial for most transactions. When you want utmost privacy and independence from the system, you'd use monero et al, like darkweb market places.

As a summary, it's not worth it, if not disadvantageous for most usecases like buying groceries. And don't forget that for a reason or another, you can wake up and find that the majority of your shitcoin value is gone; it's not stable, atleast compared with other currencies that stand on many pillars, and nothing serious will happen unless a war starts or something akin.

Crypto as a currency is useful as a medium until it's exchanged for a real thing.

It's not the 90s, as long as you have an Nvidia GPU from the last 10 years you can reasonably expect it to run fine on most other machines. CPUs, RAM etc are rarely an issue and if they are it's usually because of the retarded user having a weird fucked up hardware or software setup.
