>Some manufacturing runs were contaminated and are prone to chemical defects
This is the real answer. It doesn't matter how you "store" the discs. They're all polycarbonate for fuck sakes. They are already quite resilient. The defects of the media can be subtle however.

>>107568236
>>107567615
>>107567462
Not just mistakes, but sometimes its intentional. a lot of asian producers tried skipping out on material costs during various production cycles over the years and thats why you need this kind of descripancy. in principle, cds can last practically forever. but you will never know if the disks you own are from a bad batch some chinese jew cooked up to save some money for his zaibatsu. Printed books suffer from the same problem. Did they use the correct ink and paper or did you get the version of the book printed by thirdies in a sweat shop the one year they sent the order there.

I have books made from real squid ink that were printed hundreds of years ago, they are in perfect condition. Meanwhile, some cheap (actually, was rather expensive) books that were printed less than 10 years ago in china already have pages with fadded text.

This is the problem with global industry. We know how to do things right, but when you play telephone tag with your technology and outsource to thirdies, sometimes they fuck up. Even worse, sometimes they do it on purpose. You wont know until theres a failure and then of course its too late.

This doesn't account for slightly used batteries that aren't depleted even by half. You can't combine them with new or heavily used batteries.
Also, most devices stop working at 1.2V, some even at 1.3V, but the batteries are still good down to 1V.

> varied battery state of charge
Which is why it has a tester. You can use it to find batteries with same state of charge, and put them together. And/or run them in things that require less power, like remote controls.
At holidays we put out all these battery power song and dance things. The batteries need pulled for storage. If they're not completely depleted, the batteries go into the daddy and get put in whatever else is appropriate, later.
While the testers analog (digital would be better), it also doesn't require a battery itself.
Aside from all that, the main benefit is all the batteries are in one place, not in a (or several) junk drawer(s) or spread out all over the house.

I didn't say shit about that. Please point out precisely where I said private property requires abolishment?

What I *did* say however was capitalism's incessant push for monetisation directly lead to the issues that actually made the internet into the bag of shit it is today. Because "moar munny".

Why did adverts appear? There was a time when there was none. More money.
That became pop-ups. Why? More money.
That became the excuse for invasive metrification, previously unexisting. Why? More money.
New and more invasive uses for the metrification. Why? More money.

Vulkan is considered the modern successor to OpenGL, yes. There's still quite a lot of applications that use OpenGL (Firefox, for example) though. It's not going anywhere.

The problem with OpenGL was its poor standardisation which led to all sorts of proprietary vendor extensions. Vulkan is a lot more low-level and stricter on things like that.

It's the application that chooses the graphics API to use. Apps like Firefox have to specifically program against the OpenGL or Vulkan API and that will determine what they use.

Just raw pcb on the outside, since for some reason those sound the best when they're caseless.
>>
>>107569092
yes of course, you can do that with pretty much all of splitkb's designs but it probably works better with non-hotswap switch mounts, just solder all components on the top part of the pcb including diodes and use 5 pin switches for stability, get larger rubber feet so the pins dont touch the table
