>>107874056Is there something wrong with 9070XT? I was considering buying it myself
>>107874378Certain projects don't work well with it. Most of the coom generator fixes for amd do not work on the 9070xt, shit like ryujinx runs worse on my 9070xt than my 3060 12gb. There's nothing wrong with the card and it works great, it's just that community projects are usually not written for it in mind.
>>107871523I've been chilling with a 4090 since 2022 and later a 7950X3D with 64GB RAM since 2023. Kind of crazy it's closing in on 4 years old and the 4090 is still the 2nd fastest card on the market and the 5090 is only like 25% ahead at 4k. Might upgrade the CPU with some Zen 6 3D cache model whenever those come out.
>>107874452Yeah I skipped the 40xx generation, wish I could’ve known what a powerhouse the 4090 would be. I have a 9800x3d so like to think I’m set for a while with my setup
>>107874056Mostly use it for VMs and because I never wanted to have to worry about it
>computer is too slow>make faster hardware>oh it's so fast! don't even have to bother optimizing my software anymore>computer is too slow
>>107871824Remember the time a few years ago that LA decided to convince all of the noncitizens to stay home for a day and not work because it would show how important they are or something? You probably don’t, it got memoryholed harder than monkeypox when everybody was amazed at how few lines there were, everything seems to be working better, and HOW THE FUCK THERE’S NO TRAFFIC ON THE 405. Literally just send them all back, it’s that simple
>>107871824>it won't be congested anymore if you kick out all jobless foreignersRush hour is when traffic is the worst. But that's almost exclusively caused by people who have jobs. I'm not sure how kicking out people who aren't contributing much to that will help it in a significant way.
Everything most people do today with a computer, they already did 20 years ago with much weaker hardware.
>>107863794>can't drive in the rain for 100kmWimp.
>>107862305>computer is too slow>make faster hardware>awesome, faster hardware>develop bloated OS and software, because the hardware is faster, you dont need to worry about managing memory, since there's memory to spare>computer is too slowthis will continue until OS devs, and software devs get their shit together and return to developing good software.
how are you holding up with the best thinkpad ever made
my 8gb ram x230 with linux works faster on browsers and work apps than my recent gaming pc with wangblows 11
It's a comfy bed laptop. Still haven't gotten around to installing a 5Ghz Wi-Fi card though. Can't be assed to flash the bios just for that. Also I think the cards aren't that cheap.
still using my x200 desuworks well if you only open 2-4 websites at the time.
>>107863987Thinkpads are based AF, I wish I had one
I have a t420s and was considering upgrading to an ips and ssd. Then I saw it would be ~$100 for the screen and converter board and then another ~$100 for a 1tb 2.5" ssd. I'm sure this is because of tariffs on ali express fucking up the prices completelyA t14 from 2021 goes for $300 on newegg right now and has a 10th gen 4 core 8 thread intel, 16gb of 2666hz, and a 240gb ssd already. It just doesn't seem worth it to keep this old one anymore. The only thing that really sucks is they apparently got rid of the thinklight.

>>107873992saves you having to type something over and over, by assigning a given string to a given variablefor example in windows, instead of typing "C:\Users\[yourname]\AppData\Local\Temp"to open your temp folder, you can type "%temp%" into a run or cmd window, and it will replace that variable with the strong above. It is an "environment" variable because every program in the environment has access to it, so cmd, task manager, explorer, powershell, rather than a different variable for each program, it is set in the environment you are running software in.
Can I like, tie image files together so that they are always side by side or discoverable in the context of each other without actually editing them into one image?
>>107874523you could save them in the same folderor you could name one "other_one_is_named_img0301" or w.e

>>107870924The 14" is definitely more popular. I prefer the 16" because that 2" really does make a big difference in room if you find yourself wanting to split the screen while working. For me that's almost always the case, between IDE, terminals, browser, API or DB tools, etc. There's always one thing that affects another or I want to copy/paste, etc. And if you just like having a big screen, well, there's just a decent difference there you might regret not getting.I don't find the laptop cumbersome at all, but again, the 14" seems a lot more popular so I may be in the minority there.

It's over.
It's getting to the point where I think in the near future, AI fatigue will set in to such an extent that a large amount of people will start actively avoiding products that feature AI in it. It will become toxic to use that word in advertising.
>>107873943If you keep building upon a shaky foundation that no one understands, that's how you end up with shit like Windows 11. Fix one problem, and ten more are created which might not be discovered for years.
>>107874224I think you’re right that “AI” as a term is heading toward fatigue — possibly even backlash — but that doesn’t necessarily extend to the technology itself. People tend to get exhausted by the hype layer long before they reject the underlying utility. As that happens, the branding will shift — loudly at first, then all at once — and AI will stop being something products brag about and start being something they quietly assume. It’ll be everywhere, mostly invisible, and only really noticed when it breaks.
