Still better than in Germoney where they stopped coming to homes to save cost and just use the government records to charge you for apartments listed on your name, whether you even own a single device that can receive broadcast shit.
I have to pay 18€/month and I just use the news website and teletext app.

so i installed and build sdl3 from source. i import it in a project and run a little test thing that pulls out an empty window. everything works fine. the only problem i have is that clangd (the LSP) does not recognise the include. how can i fix this? im on macOS btw.
>>
>>106511664
again, this compiles and runs fine but the LSP goes apeshit because it does not recongise the include for some reaason

What are the odds of that? Reminds me of World War 1 during which leaders of Germany, Britain and Russia were all cousins and they looked the same, which alwas seemed to me like lazy game design, the only difference beetwen those three guys being a slight reskin

That's like saying Phones are useless because Tablets exist.
Yeah you can't get as much done as you could with a larger screen, but you can still do a fair amount of useful stuff on both Phones and Netbooks.
The issue is not the form factor, it is the cheap-ass hardware they supply with them.
For the same reason that garbage Chromebooks, phones and tablets exist - netbooks can and should still exist as a useful form factor.
The race for thin-shit by those Mactard fucks ruined entire industries, yanking out every feature they can get their greedy fucking hands on to steal another few millimeters off the width.
I'd never go near any portable now if I could avoid it. Even my recent tablet purchase was for art and I hated buying it because I was intent on making my own but another tablet dying forced my hand.

READ THE (temp)WIKI! & help by contributing:
https://igwiki.lyci.de/wiki/Home_server

/hsg/ is about learning and expanding your horizons. Know all about NAS? Learn virtualization. Spun up some VMs? Learn about networking by standing up a OPNsense/PFsense box and configuring some VLANs. There's always more to learn and chances to grow. Think you’re god-tier already? Setup OpenStack and report back.

>What software should I run?
Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

>Why should I have a home server?
De-botnet your life. Learn something new. Serving applications to yourself, your family, and your frens feels good. Put your tech skills to good use for yourself and those close to you. Store their data with proper availability redundancy and backups and serve it back to them with a /comfy/ easy to use interface.

trying a homeserver for the first, I have a somewhat stupid question which I can't find the answer to.
every guide talks about dynamic dns which makes sense but if I have a domain name and I point it to a dynamic dns so that I can use my domain name then won't anyone be able to dox me based on my domain name ip?
>>
>>106509468
I just buy physical equipment and put it inline to learn. But, depends what you want to use. If you're learning strictly Cisco then CML is better because it has cat9k images. If you want to learn other vendors then yeah, GNS3 is good.
>>
>>106508666
The SFP form factor really isn't designed to handle the thermal load of the chipsets used to convert the signals.
The standard itself is only designed to handle 1.5w or so, way lower than the 2.5-4.5w that most SFP+ 10Gbase-t modules will consume.

Yes, AD is shit, but I've come to accept it there is no way to change it. I'm using Univention docker image and Synology AD then i'm running eval Win server VM to tie it with azure. I hate MS, but relatives got used to teams MS shit software. Still trying to minimize MS footprint as much as possible.
SMB is pretty much only shit that is universal, and offers some basic access control.

You've never done a single thing besides spam links. You even called yourself a master of nothing. Rushing your first hello world isn't going to change a single god damn thing. Might I recommend going back to asserting profiling is the same as API logging, that'll help everyone understand where we're at.

>I guess No Mans Sky did something similar but they used procedural generation and it's not really online.
Online play has nothing to do with anything. At most a server can cache the world, but that's it. procedural =/= cryptographically secure randomness

>Might I recommend going back to asserting profiling is the same as API logging, that'll help everyone understand where we're at.
There's nothing new to say even if we go back though.
well, my loggers have timestamp and its the most simplest way(might also be the dumbest but it works) to set up a profiler for vulkan code.

The last time, I left off at vulkan blank screen and been going through SVG docs since then. Getting primitive shapes done along with gradients shouldn't take long.

? I barely recall this one. I don't understand the point... it's basically a paid 3rd party provider, like OR or any of dozens of other 3rd parties. Why not just use the official DS API (or whatever) and skip the middleman? Or are you just looking for free API? In which case just use OR.
I also don't understand why they'd shut down. Sounds like they have paying customers; you could just milk that forever. There's almost no cost basis here.
>>106510010
How would you know even if they said they didn't?

I have 2 major problems with the state of CS/CE/EE

Firstly models used in most papers are way way way to complicated for the problem they are trying to solve, people will spend dozens of pages trying to get 1% better than a = (b*c) / (d*e). This is the most retarded micro optimization ever cause it happens at such a high level and it's everywhere
2nd is that I couldn't understand what my EE professor said and when he asked me I stammered that he has a beautiful accent and now he's been touching my nipples and my head (all the pink parts of me) after class
