Too many people are still deluded about Rust and think it's good for lower level programming when it's actually better for higher level programming.

what is a good website or tool to generate base 16 colors from an image/wallpaper?

NTA but why get yourself raped by google trackers when frens lurking this thread can so kindly help like you did?
I wonder why they used rust, one would think something so simple can be done with way less complex stuff using just basic scripts
>>
>>107817385
you can use imagemagick. just downscale the image and specify how many colors you want extracted.
magick <image> -resize 64x64! -colors 10 -unique-colors <output.txt>

>>107817454
if absolutely forced, option 2
but honestly they all look like shit
if I _had_ to have that image I'd see if I could get someone on Etsy to print a custom mat or something
>>
>>107817491
>>107817454
i should note option 1 might look a little weird since i had to resize it larger to match the others
>>
>>107817506
the issue isn't that you resized it, it's that in option 1 the image is cropped on the mat, to me that's simply unacceptable and not even an option

option 2 it looks like someone tried to normalize the fading of the colors + remove the gaps between the panels, but they crushed the reds making the kanji hard to distinguish

option 3 bastardizes the shading and line work; it's especially obvious on the princess' clothing and the completely crushed black behind the skeleton. Again, I wouldn't even consider this as an option

so if I absolutely had to choose between the three options, I would choose option 2, because it's the only not-completely-fucked-up one. But I'm not a fan of how it was restored, and what I would do is look for a person/company that can print a custom-sized mat with the best scan I can find of the original work.

these will show up this year and be aimed at average computer users - they'll just be assistants on your computer.
claude code is most of the way there to claude computer already.
>>
>>107817048

>>107817068
It'll be funny if anthropic's coding AI becomes a functional general purpose computer assistant before microsoft's general purpose computer assistant AI becomes good enough to be usable.
It'll be even funnier if "claude computer" gets adoption from people actually interested in trying out AI automation while copilot continues being ignored and hated by everyone due to how aggressively and tone-deafly microsoft has been pushing it.

In 8 years, OpenAI will use 50% of the US's total electricity generate.

This isn't factoring the amount of GPUs they'd be purchasing, nor the fresh clean water they'd need to cool the GPUs powering their data centers.

USA's electricity generation has stagnated for the past 30 years despite a rise in population.

How much do you imagine your electricity bill to be by 2033?

>>
>>107808913
Sounds expensive. So uh, how are they gonna make a profit?
>>
>>107816897
That's the neat part!

They're using your tax dollars to fund these data centers because the megacorps themselves with their billions can't afford to.

If they don't turn a profit, or lose lots of money, your tax dollars can bail them out!

If they DO turn a profit somehow, they get to keep the money to themselves!

That way, EVERYBODY wins!

I had to take the role of an old relative's caregiver. Let me tell you, it was kinda a godsend. I could had it set timers with voice commands, which is a huge help for keeping track of their needs, you can play radio, streaming, music, weather reports, YT. It can keep them entertained, etc.
yeah Alexa is in no way as advanced as the latest AI chatbots, but it was super useful to me for what it is. Also I feel that is ok being as intrusive as it is, I dont know if I want it more intrusive by it being equipped with a (most probably) AI suscription service.
Yeah, Alexa needs to be improved, and I guess iot could be even more helpful as an old people monitor, but I dont want it using old people as free beta testers when their wellbeing is a stake.

Fuck. It finally has happened. I need a printer.
And I hate printers.
What do I do now?
Do printers that won't totally fuck you over even exist anymore? 15 years ago, I ran some 10 year old toploader HP-Laserjet off cups, plugged into my network, that was great, but it eventually died. For starters, I don't even have a plugged network anymore, how do I even send stuff to a printer without a network? Can I get a WIFI-adaptor to plug into its LAN-port? Can I get a printer-port to USB adapter?
Or is there some wifi capable printers that don't suck?
>>

Thoughts on the new Nvidia Pulsar tech?
For those who don't know: they found a way to perfectly sync backlight strobing for LCD panels and managed to make IPS have better motion clarity than OLED running at higher framerates. OLED despite having response times of 0.5ms still displays some motion blur. Meanwhile this seems to entirely delete it.
This could potentially also be applied to TN panels and create something that can surpass CRT in terms of speed.
>>
its strobbing the screen. bfi on oled can do the same thing to eliminate motion blur but now you have permanent vrr flicker. its a tradeoff.
