With the current state of the PC market I’m thinking of buying Apple, I know the M4 is powerful but how is MacOS? I heard Tahoe is shite but haven’t looked too deep into it.
>>107848986It's pushing 5 years. What did you expect?
>>107849481>(Also I'm a dumbass I didn't need to math it, I thought the 2021 was the DATE, not the cycle count).*I'm a bigger dumbass because I mixed up the cycle count with hours. Also I am too tired to realize if these numbers make any sense.Someone else can probably correct me at what it means.Because my brain says to just multiply by 8 because cycle = 8 hours, so you spent 11 hours, but that must be wrong...Someone correct me.
>>107849507OH 2020 was 6 years ago, I was using 4 years because I remember the m1 came out at the second half of the year or something. And a heavy workload like video editing will reduce the charge to 2 hours or something. So the usage is very normal (like 4 hours a day~), but... the cycle shouldn't be affected while being charged...
>>107814412If you move to it from linux then it's similar levels of suck, slightly worse in some ways, slightly better in others. If you move from windows it's a big downgrade.I've had 2 attempts in my life to use that shit and ended up selling my macs, the last one was 2 years ago. There's many issues to talk about, but some I remember as really annoying are:1. Full screen doesn't exist, when you fullscreen something it creates another virtual desktop and moves the app to it. This is beyond dumb, and slow as hell when you want to alt tab constantly between something that is fullscreened and something that isn't because you are moving virtual desktops.2. The file manager is worthless, it can't even align files on its own, if you right click inbetween 4 files to create a folder then it will literally create it there overlapping them, you can rearrange it later with an option, but it's so stupid. it has other problems as well that you can only understand after experiencing the shit yourself.3. It does bs color grading, when you play a video with mpv it will look off, downloading color profiles that supposedly match the macos one don't truly fix the issue either, the colors will be off, I was only able to fix this by buying one of those garbage macos only video players that are missing most functionality you need. This doesn't even happen with youtube videos so idk wtf is going on with that OS.4. Many small problems, interface designed for mobile users, it will be hard to find or disable so much dumb shit like mouse acceleration, it's a similar experience with linux and its garbage defaults.5. If you think you can just emulate windows games then give up on the idea, it's more miss than hit, don't bet on anything working decently.Overall if you don't do video or music editting I see no point to this OS.
>>107849481Also I'm wrong about the 300 cycle part.apple's batteries keeps 80% charge at 1000 cycles. So that matches up with your battery health perfectly.(assuming that the health % is accurate, and not a number that is calculated purely from the cycle count, 80% of 80% is 64% so technically your battery is slightly better than expected?).
Other than for storing videos and photos taken with your phone, is there a reason to even need more than 256GB on a phone? People with more than 256GB, what do you use your extra capacity for not including the videos and photos you take with it?
>>107849207no, anon, that's retardednormgroids lease their phones from their service provider, then return them in serviceable condition every other year to lease new phonesmost of them opt for the optional handset insurance, which covers the full cost of the phone in the event that it's damaged.considering how expensive the latest and greatest phones can be, it's a protection worth every penny
>>107849486>just don't download fileswhat retard downloads files on a phoneits not a tablet, theres no point in using it like a little computerthe closest thing to a computer i do on there is ssh into my server whenever i need to manage something and im either away or too lazy to grab my 'puter>just don't tale screenshots just delete bullshit every so oftenotherwise it clogs up your library, which doesnt seem annoying until you want to back it upyou will have to sift through thousands of meme pictures that belong in the trash before you get to the photos of your family that you actually want to save>just don't install apps other than the built in apps i have less than 10 apps installed on my phonewhats the point of having a gazillion different apps that all do the same thing?i believe in the steve jobs philosophy of everything should just be a mobile enhanced websiteNO LIDL I REFUSE TO DOWNLOAD YOUR "APP"
I have 565gb of space used on my phone, so obviously yeah, i need more than 256gb.

IPS or OLED?
They need to make a 100% flicker free OLED for me to consider buykng an OLED. The automatic brightness dimming also sucks for preserving creators intent. I want stable and predictable brightness even if using HDR.
>>107848010Are you being obtuse on purpose? Windows doesn't show you the brightness slider unless you're on a laptop, despite the monitor being perfectly capable of being controlled over DDC/CI, it's a design decision not to expose that control.KDE doesn't have that problem.

All these fags making bimbo looking sex dolls into robots. But why not do what futurama did where its just a plain robot and then they overlay the identity overtop. Now granted we cant do that but with ar or vr goggles why not have a character model superimpose on a blank robot like joi and that hooker?Maybe add hair and clothing of similar mesh so u can twirl ur girls hair or w.e. but beyond that it doesnt even need eyes and shit. Its all presented in vr goggles. So question how long until a proto holodexk. Where i can create on demand a virtual 3d space like a white villa on a fruitger aero blue beach surrounded by ocean. With a cute emo blonde girl with eyeliner that then i can snuggle with, dance, pick up, and obv smash her puss. Like 2 to 3 years?
>>107847836China will be the first to develop it in whatever form it takes. They have destroyed the male/female ratio with their one child policy. My best guess will be a robotic doll with basic movements that will will have textured hair/skin, but the rest of it will be covered in tracking marks of some kind. You'll wear AR glasses to what this scene in Blade Runner did with the hooker. remember just "learn to code"? lol
>>107849295Digital and biological retards can """code""" but only humans can program. Learn to program.
>>107845213The main reason is that coders were "about to be replaced" pretty much constantly since the beginning of the profession. First it was assemblers, then compilers, then various low-code/no-code abortions, now LLMs. All it ever did was induce demand and push the needed expertise further up.
>>107849351>First it was assemblers, then compilers, then various low-code/no-code abortions, now LLMs. All it ever did was induce demand and push the needed expertise further up.Your statement makes sub-zero sense. The first two items temporarily reduced the degree of expertise required to program at all, but also enabled creating more complex software, which added more dimensions to expertise. The net effect was extending the spectrum of competence on both ends.Traditional "no-code" approaches always flop outside of limited niches, having no overall effect; even where they become entrenched, they evolve more and more complexity so eventually "no code" just becomes programming by a more awkward means, requiring expertise.LLMs aren't having any demonstrable effect, either. They're simply not useful.
Light themes are objectively superior to dark themes, why do so many people still choose dark?
>>107837474Eyes are designed to work with lit surfaces. Human eyes deteriorate in darkness.Everyone I know that uses dark mode wears glasses. Those who swear by light mode have eyesight better than 15/20. I have a buddy who used to have 18/20 eyes. They're now 15/20 and he keeps using dark mode.
