Now, I understand the Type 81 family. I have owned a few. What was the reason behind this? Was it just an alternative to the type 81 that simply wasn’t adopted? Because (drunkenly, mind you) that’s how it comes off to me. Also chinkshilling is honestly not to be written off here. You got some engrish in there and it’s not fooling anybody silly gook :)
>>
wish you could buy them in US

Type 80 was never fully adopted for whatever reason, just niche roless and at some point the type 67 was abandoned without replacement.
Now just recently they introduced a new 7.62 NATO GPMG so I suppose they're warmi g to the concept
Chinese machine gun situation is crazy in general really, they have like 4 different .50 HMGs

Israel depends on germany for submarines and last nuclear resort options so that won't happen between russia and germany israel will side with germany.

That said Israel is probably the only big manufacturer that sells this type of stuff without the ability to turn these off, their reputation is bad enough that a single case of that happening would destroy their arms industry and they depend on exports to keep economies of scale going there.

Yeah that's what I was thinking of, Germany is a bit behind in terms of long range AD so producing foreign systems under license would be a good way to build up expertise

Don't embarrass yourself.

Tanks are not obsolete they just haven't been updated.

Abrams introduced- 45 years ago

The first ironclad to the first dreadnought was about 45 years in comparison.

Roughly 45 years between the wright brothers plane and the introduction of combat jet aircraft.

You are really, really, really overestimating flying IED robustness. Most strikes require 2-3 drones for a kill and due to signal issues youre gonna have like 6 max in an area. You cant beat an enemy like the US that can field way more than a trickle with fpvs.

It's that time of year /K/ommandos! Were we reminisce the years that have past and look forward to the new one that is now unfolding! And that includes thinking up of goals for ourselves to achieve this year! You have been thinking of how to become a better /K/ommando right anon?

Anyway, I haven't seen one of these threads in a few years, so lets get one going. How do you rank against your fellow /k/omrades?

Bonus points if you can add stories about your achievements. Also maybe its time to update the board? Add a few more,

Neat thread OP. I racked up some more points than I thought I would.
One of my notable achievements is the "and my ankles too", a few years ago, my battalion was going into the field for some training, well we started with what was supposed to be a 14 mile pack. With my med bag on top of everything else on the packing list my gear was approaching 90lbs. Well they also messed up the route so it actually ended up being closer to 22 miles. We stepped off shortly after midnight and didn't get to our rally point until like 9AM. By the morning we had so many heat casualties, good times. Also, while I was TAD with some reserve artillery unit they let me run the gauntlet and shoot a M777, it was pretty fun.

Does a AT-4 trainer with the 9mm count as 'artillery over 40mm?'

>>64749453
Important question.
>>
>>64751374
>Does a AT-4 trainer with the 9mm count as 'artillery over 40mm?'

No.........

But yes

Why wouldn't something like pic related work fine as a "do everything" gun for a person living in the densely forested hills of Appalachia, where the power and ballistic advantage of a rifle simply isn't necessary?
>plinking will be good fun with the naturally subsonic .45
>definitely suitable for home defense
>easy enough to fit in a backpack, or take the can off and carry it on your person
>get some .45 Super for killing deer or hogs, or mess around with round ball loadings for taking small game or for pest control
Yes, it's true that rifles can be had for dirt cheap these days. And it's also true that there is no real reason to limit yourself to just one gun, especially a handgun. But in an autistic min-max fantasy where you literally can only own one gun and it has to be able to be carried 24/7/365, does a suppressed .45 automatic make sense? The only real downside I see here is that this is not the best option for summertime concealed carry in hot climates.

LMAO I assure you copper solids, aluminum core, or steel core 5.7 are out penetrating 99% of the rounds people carry in 9mm.
>>64752353
>Doubt. It’s a higher pressure bottleneck round.
Maybe if you're retarded and don't know what subsonic ammunition is. Suppression is a function of bore diameter and gas. 5.7 is absolutely quieter than any 9mm pistol out there.
>>
>>64753456
>all those fancy 5.7 loads

Unless all the bullet’s mass is in a thin tungsten penetrator with the jacket shearing off upon penetration, 9mm is getting mogged by really anything bottlenecked. 5.7 has ~2.5x as much sectional energy.
>>
>>64753456
>LMAO I assure you copper solids, aluminum core, or steel core 5.7 are out penetrating 99% of the rounds people carry in 9mm.
My guy, if you have to compare special 5.7 bullets to regular 9mm bullets, then it doesnt really prove anything. There is armor piercing 9mm ammo in the wild too, but nobody cares because they aren't what people have access to. You aren't handloading steel core 5.7 ammo and I am not loading 7n31 so throw both out the window and compare FMJ to FMJ and hollow point to hollow point. 9mm winds both contests and you only have 3 fewer rounds in the mags. It's cool if you like 5.7, but don't cope about it not being as effective as you think it is. Accept it and look at the 5.7's real benefits over 9mm. Reduced recoil, higher velocity, better BC, and a much flatter trajectory.

Also, who gives a shit about subsonic 5.7 ammo you are basically just shooting 22lr at that point? Does it even cycle the action? 5.7 is not something you should bother suppressing as it is supersonic in any load that is worth using and if you are shooting subs (assuming that they cycle the action) why use 5.7 instead of 22lr? That's stupid.
>>
>>64753583
NTA. He didn’t have to compare specialty 5.7 loads. All 5.7 will outpenetrate all 9mm save for dedicated 9mm AP loads.

Also,
>my guy
Fuck off. It’s “my nigger” around these parts.

>880,000 dog attacks in the US of A requiring medical attention last year
>Cannot be reasoned with in any capacity as opposed to most criminals that usually just want to steal your shit and will back off if they decide they can victimize someone else easier
What calibers and firearms do you carry to protect against the pitter scurge?

Shot placement?

Keep in mind you may be in situations where you have to stop a loose shit bull from tearing some bystanders face off and over penetration is an actual concern when it's lockjawed onto that poor soul.

>>
>>64752904
>880,000 dog attacks

>>64752904
Threadly reminder that you can feed shitbulls 0.5g per kg of body weight of xylitol and most will drop dead in a few days. Median weight 30kg shitbull, 15g of xylitol. "XL Bully" 90kg "shitbull mix", 45g of xylitol.

Xylitol is a sugar substitute that is safe for humans (and also kitties!) but lethal to dogs. It is widely available in granular form in health-food stores. (IOW, no, you don't need to feed the dog ten packs of chewing gum.) Just mix it into a doggie treat like sausage or cheese balls.

Xylitol has two separate modes of lethality in dogs: first, the chance of putting the dog into a hypoglycemic coma (within hours), second, liver failure (within days). The above doses are the LD50 (meaning half will die from it) to cause liver failure; the hypoglycemic coma dosage is only 20% of the above. There is no antidote, but it can be treated if caught early, and only about half of dogs will die from a LD50 dose (by definition). The two different modes make it very likely to kill a dog with this dose.

Avoid getting caught on video or making it obvious that you're the prime suspect by complaining constantly ahead of time.

Good way to rid your neighborhood of dangerous dogs.

Common counter-suggestions and why they aren't as good:
>just shoot it!
* police investigate gunshot wounds/deaths
* dangerous to bystanders in suburban or urban neighborhoods

Actually have that one already. Just have to remove the flag.

Non-active service because it's illegal and people do get noted up for that every now and then. Think usually it's because they're wearing it with the flag or it's the current uniform here which is pretty obvious. I might just get German Flecktarn anyway. It would degrade in a century.

Better to build out of stone & brick, at least subbasement, basement, sewage, water, telecom, electrical, first floor, second floor. Basalt or granite, with roman concrete as filler. Obviously gotta build super thick in seismic zones, and well above flood zones. You need local water & power, self-sustaining (water & fuel source within city, or 5 year supply stored).

Location is most important factor, others include demographics, supplies, and morale.

Proof against rooting out defenders also requires tunnel systems and no wide boulevards, probably a river or canal system too. Imagine Boston on ground 50 feet higher, basalt bedrock for subbasements & tunnels, granite blocks on top for basements & just under street level tunnels & levels 1 & 2, steel or brick construction on top from 3 stories up.

Narrow, winding pedestrian alleys with buildings overhanging. Murderholes & peekholes in ever door & wall. Multiple outdoor doors inside each building. Courtyards with trees or ivy obscuring the sky. Commuter trains/trams at 2nd level, 3rd level being elevated freeways, 3rd & 4th level parking garages.1st level exclusive biking, pedestrian, canals, very shadowy lit by skylights. Would be nice in a hot climate.

Even if you nuke it a few times the survivors could turtle up & wait you out, & it's not like you'll send infantry to take it while radioactive for a few months. House to house fighting would require individual room clearing for the entire city, probably 2x defender casualties for you at least.

I'd just bypass it, unless it's at a bottleneck. Or try gassing them with something heavier than air. Can't flood it. Biological weapons would work, rat warrens are great for plague rats.

I'm not trying to suck off Holosun as much as I am trying to shame the legacy companies for not innovating anymore. Holosun is not a particularly high quality product, but then again red dots aren't sophisticated tech anymore, either.
If the Chinks can come up with a relatively inexpensive NV/IR optic, even if it's just a shitty novelty, why can't AP or EO do something cool? Instead we get another $800 magnifier or vudu scope nobody will buy.

the receiver is objectively the worst place to mount a red dot on a shotgun. the best option would be if you could get it low profile on the barrel or as a qd on a side rail like an AK, though the barrel, especially if you can get the bottom of the red dot below the receiver would be great because then you could have a red dot mounted for HD or turkey or if you're in one of the like 3 states that still require slug guns for durr and then you can take off the barrel, the red dot remains zeroed and you can put on a different barrel for birds or clays
I really don't understand this psa 570 thing. it looks like they just designed a gun to compete with turkshit and the mav 88 to be a ghetto blaster for blowing up trash on blm land
