So here is my glorious Century Arms AK after a fire and 4 years rusting in a scrap heap. A couple folks i know have been watching youtube and gotten into restoration, they are competing with each other to see what is the worst one they can fix. Well i'm gonna give it a try.As far as i can tell the lower and are fine, however all the sheet metal and most of everything else is unsalvageable. The plan is to whenever possible replace the irreparable components with items from a 'Asian parts kit' aka a Type 58. So what is my first step, put in a 5 gallon bucket of water, dump in some Borax and hook up a battery charger?
>>64703234>So what is my first step, put in a 5 gallon bucket of water, dump in some Borax and hook up a battery charger? That, or put it in a container with evaporust and let it sit for a day or 2.
>>64703234If you want a Type 58, then build a Type 58. We have only a finite number Nork parts in the country, it's stupid risk damaging them by equipping them on a firearm that's probably going to pipe bomb. It's probably not going to be substantially more effort to build a Type 58 with a receiver flat. Why don't you get this thing in as serviceable a condition as you can, and just put something less rare on it. If it holds up, great, you've got a fun project gun you restored, if not then it's not a huge loss. Can't tell you what to do with your own property, but I think it's worth considering.
>>64703806I'll try to get better pics in the morning when i have decent light. So far this is looking less like restoration and more like archeology. Heat treatment seems utterly ruined but so far all of of the parts and springs are intact just crusty.Gonna poke at it for a hour or so then dump it in vinegar/salt over night.
>>64703829much appreciated. hope your new years day goes swell norkanon.
>>64703827>Why don't you get this thing in as serviceable a condition as you can, and just put something less rare on itI think that's exactly what i'll try to do. If i can get it to shoot a mag i'll make my friends buy a Type 58 parts kit then hang this or it's pieces on a wall. I want to see what i can do with it and about 50 feet of string just out of curiosity.

Greetings pol,Ever wonder what Trump actually meant when he said we had Jet aircraft that could literally disappear? Not just from radar, but from optical light too. The media called him crazy, here's what he meant. Now let's consider this, do you know what a Luneburg lens is? It can be used in devices that under certain conditions act as phase conjugate time reversal mirrors. Especially if a Bose Einstein Condensate is used as a buffer. Anyway, a configuration such as this can probably me used as a type of "Active Cloak" or "Broadband Cloak" for an aircraft (as Luneburg Lens's are already installed upon most US stealth aircraft for supposedly different purposes). Probably functioning in a way similar to how acoustic time reversal mirrors cancel unwanted noise.A properly made luneburg lens antenna would be of a layered metamaterial, with a gradient refractive index from the outside surface, to the innermost point. By it's nature, it's already designed to reflect EM energy back along the path that was taken to reach the antenna/lens...combined with a BEC acting as a buffer material and with a negative refractive index, we can create what is a perfect time-reversal lens.Officially, these types of devices are only put onto stealth planes to make them more observable to radar during training exercises. However they can also make their radar profile much larger than the plane itself (obfuscating radar)...but what if it was used to either bend light around the craft? Or create destructive interference around the craft in order to eliminate any radar return?
This deals with the same idea, but with acoustics. I believe it also discusses some electromagnetic counterparts. Basically, holograms for cloaking sound. Or interfering patterns of noise to cancel other noise. https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.abi9627
this also seems pretty relevant.https://pubs.aip.org/aip/sci/article/2023/29/291102/2902931/Creating-a-reconfigurable-space-time-cloak-in-real
It would take all the power of a slightly older nuclear carrier to cloak a bicycle this way.

Hey anons, Ive got a rifle length 18'' upper, it'll fire 2-3 rounds before failing to feed, anyone got any ideas why? Info: Using a 6-7oz buffer, rifle buffer tube [A2]. >>64658840I don’t even wanna know why whoever took that picture had to be pantsless to do so…
>>64703435Wouldn't really make any sense. This weapon is what it is because of what they had available to them and what they knew how to make, and it's extremely clever, but ONLY within that context. If you had access to the resources, tools, and knowhow, to make steel, then you could just make a conventional sword instead, which is just plain better.>>64703447I'd say that they're good for what they are, it's impressive that they developed a workable sword substitute without any good metal or metalworking. But ultimately, it's just refined caveman technology, and it has too many drawbacks.I'd love to own a good replica just because I think it's an interesting historical weapon, but if I was forced into a sword fight and got to pick my weapon, I would pick some cutlass, saber, or dao of some sort.

This should be a good exercise. Pic related is the current radio infographic over in /gq/. Review it, radio thread.
>>64703611>Review it, radio thread.Did a fact check on your amp statement and TRUE! Bhut... from the Amazon description for the B-tech V25 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076H972DH/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il):>Our amplifier is designed to adapt its output power based on the input it receives, optimizing performance across a range of 2W to 6W inputs. At the lower end, an input of 2W is amplified to produce an output of approximately 20W. As the input power increases, so does the output, reaching its peak efficiency with a 6W input, which yields an impressive output of around 40W in the center of the band. On average, users can expect 30W output, providing a substantial boost to transmission power. It's important to note that while the amplifier can accept up to 10W of input power, amplification levels plateau after 6W, ensuring device safety and longevity without further increasing output.>amplification levels plateau after 6W Again, all of which is true. But they say "designed" as though Third Order Intercept (TOI) and compression are intentional rather than inherent. >reaching its peak efficiency with a 6W inputThe UV-9R I bench tested did not meet output power spec for low or high setting. Getting 6W Pout from a 5R would be optimistic, based upon my testing. That said, if your amp is working, you should get an additional 15-20W in TX power. Now, will this be linear across the band? DOUBTFUL! Pout will NOT be linear from Fl to Fh. If anything, they would tune output power to spec at Fc and fuck it! Gain flatness from Hl to Fh would be a dice roll! Does a few dB in fltness matter? Meh. If there is a spec, it matters. You can likely find this cheaper that the Amazon price, but you won't find a better return policy than Amazon's. That's worth a few extra bucks, imo. Do you want more power? Add an amp. But that won't improve your RX sensitivity. Protip, never trust a commie! In this regard, they lie about thier products meeting specs! Suprised?
