Frame idk, it's some sort of anodizing. The grips I got cerakoted because the blue paint was kinda nasty on them.

Realistically, what firearm would you need to take down a rampaging Na'vi from the Avatar films? Nine feet of solid muscle and bone (reinforced with natural carbon fibre), extremely fast-moving and agile, fighting on their own turf with very short engagement distances? There's no way 5.56 mm would cut it, would 7.62mm be enough?

>Joerg poked a hole through a hardened steel plate using only five or six times the energy of a longbow
>Do you mean the time he shot through a kevlar vest with a half to a third the energy of a longbow?
I'll find the video for you at the end of the day but in the meantime I want you to go back and for the first time actually read what I fucking said.

>>64765144
>Joerg doesn't own a musket
Oh well damn if only anyone else in human history had ever shot that very very common piece of steel available cheaply worldwide then maybe we could draw a comparison.

A 6mm hardened steel plate will stop a fucking quarter pound of lead fired at musket velocity.
>>
>>64767187
I actually found the video, my misstake was looking at the high viewer count videos and looking at the thumbnail for crossbows or really big bows.

And holy shit this aint 5 or 6 times the energy of a longbow, it is over 10-16 times the energy of the longbows in todd's arrow vs armor test 3.
https://youtu.be/SFFgcTzCvMo?t=156
He didn't build a super crossbow or longbow. He built a super airgun that is about the same size as an assault rifle or battle rifle.
>400 grams
>1100 joules of energy
>30 newton second
>steel arrow stainless steel projectile (with hardened center punch tip?)

>Their bodies have some sort of string carbon fiber reinforcement, making the “extremely hard to kill”.

This and the Three Laws of E'ywa (no buildings, no fire, no metal tools) gives credence to the theory that Na'Vi were a warrior race that lost some galactic war and Pandora is their prison planet, with Ey'wa as their warden.

Would be nice if they took a Na'Vi off planet and the moment it leaves atmosphere all hell breaks loose with some alien ships arriving.
>>
>>64756381
>>64756372
>>64756463
You all forget that Ey'wa knows exactly what civilization is and forbids using metal tools or building stone buildings, so she is either a creation of Na'Vi who abandoned technology or by some other civilization to keep Na'Vi contained.
The fact that Na'Vi turn into maniacal bloodthirsty warriors the moment they get disconnected from the world fungus should tell you something which option is more likely.

I don't count an AR15 receiver with a short-stroke piston forced into it as a proper AR18, it's some kind of retarded halfbreed. You're not gonna get away from the carrier tilt without those guiderods.

It's partially money reasons, the Swedes got a good deal on refurbed GWOT era M4A1s, and they're provided as economic filler and for familiarizing. They still haven't fully decided and finalized everything with their AK24 as I recall.

Yep. Some kind of AR carbine the bongland cops liked enough to adopt.
There's very little public information about the rifle in question.

As someone who lives in CO, believe me when I tell you that every year we have a few "Olypmic" skiiers/biathlonfags who end up on a park/graduated run and end up getting absolutely wrecked (hopsitalized) before an Olympic or red bull qualifier.

Biathlon is probably the easiest winter/skiing sport you could possibly do, skill wise.

>Biathlon is probably the easiest winter/skiing sport you could possibly do, skill wise.
So you have never shot the course.

Been an active member of USB (something you have never been) since I was enrolled at 14 in middle school, and have been a redbull qualifier for rail jams two different years.
I have more experience actually being in the snow and shooting than you will in a lifetime, and yes, pushing off a 23' wall requires significantly more skill than cherry picking an X-ring @ 50yds. with a .22.
Hope this clarifies for you, kthxbai. :)

>Everything you do ruins the gun

>Gotta use 50 different tools to mount a scope

>Gotta use a ten pound rifle

Meanwhile I just go out in the woods and train in field positions, shoot squirrels from as far away as I can see them, and do nothing to my guns except wipe the bolt and barrel down with an oiled cloth and occasionally run patches through the barrel with fishing line. If I can hit an egg at 50 yards while braced against a tree, there is no fucking reason in real life to worry about accuracy beyond that. Bench rest shooting seems to seep out and poison everything and mislead new shooters about what is actually necessary to have suitable equipment and skills for any practical purpose.

I'm not mad that people enjoy useless sports that don't simulate any real life skills. I'm mad when their sport seems to dominate convention. When I first got into guns I didn't even own a rifle for years and only used shotguns and pistols because reading all the old geezers on TheHighRoad made me think that rifles were too high maintenance to be practical. I had that mindset for years.
>>
>>64767628
Isn't average egg size like 2-3.5" in diameter depending on if it's medium to jumbo/extra large? At 50yd that'd be 4-7 moa. If you're shooting smaller eggs though then sure.
>>64767583
Sure and that's fine, but plenty of people hunt because they just want a few hundred pounds of high quality and tasty protein in the freezer for the cost of a few bullets as well as hang out with buddies and help keep down a population that doesn't have so many predators. Nothing wrong with your approach just it's not the only motivation is all.
>>
>>64767674
I've never seen an egg larger than maybe 1.75" in diameter. An egg is definitely smaller than the killzone of a squirrel or the brain cavity of a deer.
>>
>>64767674
Even on private farmland you're probably talking 200 yards tops. You'd have to go west Kentucky or something to need any serious long range equipment for eastern whitetail.

I'm a skinny piece of shit and checking stats online, the MT Amphibian has a larger grip than the Paramilitary 2 but it fits my hand fucking perfectly. If that's too large for you that is sad.

Microtech anon please come back, I really need to disassemble mine for cleaning and try and see if I can get it to deploy more smoothly, something rough on the locking piece or back of blade but I hand sanded both to mirror finish. Does the fluted spacer actually act as a bearing surface at all when it's opening?

If you could make that spacer have a bushing around it and polish the locking piece/back of blade I bet it could deploy super smoothly. Also please tell Ron to make the studs to unlock like 1mm wider on either side, or even doing like the thumb stud on the blade and having them screw through the locking wedge so you could offer a few different sizes would make it a lot easier to unlock and close the knife. Otherwise they are too recessed into the grip to do it very easily.
>>
>>64767662
That's a Military 2 at the top of the thread.
Yes, it's nice to be able to grip a knife like in your pic with the hand kind of splayed out, very secure.
>>
>>64767701
My bad, I'll blame reverse image search. Grip length is about the same then. Only knife where the grip feels a little large w/out gloves is the Bedlam. I love mine but damn I wish Microtech did a more overt Bedlam thing.

Unironically this gun has reignited my passion for BRs and guns in general.
It kicks like a mule, but has nearly no muzzle rise (?) and the entire gun just feels like it was made with an extra level of detail/care, like a semi-custom shop pistol that is non-existent anymore. Not to mention all the swiss army knife details like the captive takedown pins, swiveling trigger guard, etc.

I think I'm starting to develop some sort of anxiety the more that I go through these. I click on some video clip that has a mundane title and find it to be an assortment of clips that include a Hellcat landing on a carrier with half a wing missing, then a combat report with a name like "No.73616 #2/76" has an account of heroism the likes I've never seen. The sheer mass of stuff thats out there waiting to be seen, hidden behind droll titles and pages of otherwise uninteresting documents, not to mention the huge quantity of stuff thats NOT uploaded. So much is there but every document or collection I pass by I wonder if I'm missing somrthing incredible
