Besides Malaya, are there any examples of bicycle infantry actually being useful?

One of the SS Kampfgruppes that delayed the British from linking up with the rest of the 1st Airborne division rode bicycles to get there. This was during Market Garden.
Also…. See gooks using bikes to great effect to transport equipment on the Ho Chi Minh trail.

If you think about it, even a shitty bike can carry at least 200 pounds of equipment. (Without someone riding it)
>>
Dirt bikes are far more effective. The Taliban proved that in spades.

Bicycles would have been quite convenient on paved roads in urban areas, but on gravel roads, tires would likely wear out quickly.
Japanese soldiers in Malaya eventually removed their flat tires and tubes before riding.

Yeah the AK FRT SS market is super underdeveloped, and IMO it is actually one of the most promising. My two position AK FRT has been working flawlessly for nearing 1200 rounds total, maybe 1300 actually I need to double check. The design of the cam is such that the force to actuate the reset is transferred through a very durable tough piece, as opposed to the lever designs for the AR platform. The trip bar which is arguably the weakest part is only subject to moderate forces.
I've got the three position function checking by hand decently well right now, so long as you don't crank down on the trigger to hard. Going to work on it more a bit here.

I don't know if AK receiver and carrier specs are tight enough in terms of tolerances, but matching the cam and trip bar to a particular spec fire control group, auto disconnector, and auto safety, for a near drop in three position AK FRT SS that keeps the original OG aesthetic... we're not far from that.

>>64338526
Very based. Will it use the OG safety selector?

Since we're now in "holiday season " I wanted to reach out to everyone and see if there were people still interested in participating this year. Last couple years have gone smoothly and I have a pretty good list of people who have been good Santas, and a naughty list of course.

Still got the same email as last year, S G T S A N T A 4 2 @ G M A I L, anyone interested in helping organize the event should reach out. I think what's realistic based on the last two-year is to have 2 rounds for U.S.A. and another round for international, shipping deadlines by Dec 1 (will definitely be there for /k/mas) and Dec 15 for USA and Dec 1 for international. Tiers will be based on the minimum amount spent, at $0 $20, $50, 100$+. If there are enough people to do something like 250+, that can probably be arranged (really only need 2 people).

I'm excited to spread some more /K/hristmas-y goodness, delicious Eastern European chocolates and milsurp, and maybe, just maybe, another knildo.

Hypothetically speaking, let's just say I'm the new leader of a politically unstable, resource-rich, third-world country. My nation is being plagued by terrorists who are funded by a neighboring power, and local security forces are not up to snuff to deal with the threat. How feasible of an idea is it to hire a PMC and integrate them into the military or security services and allow them to execute operations against the enemy?
>>
>>64340358
Retarded thread, not enough specifics to actually answer your question.

The resources in question, are they actively being exploited and providing you with cash flow or are they merely theoretical avenues of income? Is this "neighboring power" a peer adversary to you or will they absolutely fuck your shit if you attack them directly? Are you a pariah state that's actively being sanctioned by the civilized world or are you on good terms with the major powers?

Speaking generally though, you'd be better off hiring PMCs to train and advise your own local security forces and spend the extra money you'd pour into paying the PMCs to actually fight on better equipping your own soldiers. When I hear "politically unstable" I think "you want a competent military on your side".
>>
>>64340358
>Integrate pmc
They are whore with guns. Keeping them you get a coup to prolong warfare. Use them conduct forced drafting by abduction and reserve your inner party to mop them up as the good guy

>are they actively being exploited and providing you with cash flow or are they merely theoretical avenues of income?
Mostly theoretically
>Is this "neighboring power" a peer adversary to you or will they absolutely fuck your shit if you attack them directly?
Near peer
>Are you a pariah state that's actively being sanctioned by the civilized world or are you on good terms with the major powers?
They've caused some controversy but not enough to get heavily sanctioned

If you were stuck on an elevator with a Pentagon official and could pitch a replacement to the m7, what would you say? I'd personally recommend a 22 arc with shell shock cases for lighter weight and when combined they should have ~20% more case capacity than a 5.56
>Cheap option
Keep the current lower and upper, upgrade to a standard issue sopmod stock and mlok handguard, 16in medium barrel and bolt.
>Total replacement
Again sopmod stock and mlok handguard, but with a fluted barrel, icar receiver, three position gas block, sand cut and upgraded bcg, incorporate some of the mk2 upper receiver changes, and a stubby suppressor

This is actually a pretty good idea, 16 for regular infantry and 10.5 and under for sped ops and vehicle niggas. Worked well for the ziggers back in the day
>>
>>64321981
I like the idea of an M4A2 and M16A5 in principle, but with heavier grain 5.56 I do question whether it is necessary to have both. The real irony would be that splitting the difference and standardizing on a one rifle set up, something between a 14.5" M4 and. 20" M16, like say a civilian length 16", could make a lot of sense ballistic wise. I'd personally rather they went with something closer to rifle length, like an 18", but the "muh CQB" crowd would never go for it.
>>
>>64336769
Sounds like you just want everyone to have the AUG. The 16 inch version is still more compact than a MK18.
>>
>>64336662
You mentioned the full name of the case and its company like 50 times independently, with copious marketing speak, even though nobody has heard of them before this thread existed. Yes, I think you're a shill. Quite obviously, in fact.

Polycase is better. Notice how I can just say polycase without pointing out a specific manufacturer. There's more than one, you see. Bi-metal cases like what sig uses are a step back.

Those same complaints have been made about this size of HE for 80 years now. It's still the sort of obstacle-reducing firepower that formerly weighed 500lb and required a 4 man crew lugging it into position, well worth having around at this new 20-30lb form-factor.
Stick or steel framing ain't any more resilient than picrel.

Ancient fuses take up more space than modern ones. Film at 11.
>>

you can absolutely make a programmable fuse smaller than a purely mechanical fuse nowadays.

Keyed OP, Yugo thread.

On a side note someone mentioned in a previous thread was talking about corrosive ammo. I’m starting to think that corrosive ammo is a boomer myth. I’ve shot around 2000 rounds of 7N6 through my PSAK-74 and only cleaned it twice. Still no signs of rusting even after monsoon season. Okay, yeah maybe after 40+ years the bore will be rusted out but by that time someone in America will ether be making new ones/all guns will be banned/the country will be Balkanized and we’ll be able to buy real Russian ones from street vendors 1990s Bosnia style.

I've known for a hot minute. There is a reason why so many of the surplus barrels were dead.
>previous claimed he'd never use or own an AK that isn't chrome lined
Source? Where did I say that? I've had several had several AKs that weren't chrome lined, and they're far from my first pick, and I don't consider them real guns.
