Okay hold on, I might have mixed things up. There's a "Valley of Death" in Kamchatka, but that's a natural phenomenon. It's a small gorge with a number of volcanic vents, gas buildup hangs low to the ground and things that go in asphyxiate, happens sometimes in Yellowstone too.

But there's ANOTHER one in Yakutia, also known in the local language as Uliuiu Cherkechekh, that's alleged to have these weird metallic "cauldrons" or domed structures sticking out of the ground. The whole area is rife with supposed anomalous phenomena, but is so far out in the ass-end of nowhere I've only heard of one expedition to the area...and it was cut short when one of the members became mysteriously ill, which is what the legends say happens to anyone going there. Since /x/ was mentioned, a historian i charge of a small gulag museum and her son went to the Butugychag cemetery and they claim that there are "glowing balls" appearing on other photos directly above the graves of the inmates, stating she does not know what they are because there shouldn't be any reflections but people like to believe it's the liberated sous of the dead
They also tried to bury at least some of the skulls during trips in the 90' so it looks probably somewhat better now

Given the content in these threads, there's probably a simple but horrifying explanation for pockets in the countryside that make anyone who approaches them ill.

there's something intrinsically fucked up about the far northwest of russia , something about how isolated and inhospitable to humans it is. Nothing good ever seems to happen there. If anyone knows more about this stuff or stuff like it or has any interesting links I'd love to go down a rabbithole.

100%. Denmark is going to restrict social media for children under 15, and the law will be opt-out at the parents' discretion. They're planning a lot of Draconian bullshit but I actually agree with this measure. Children should only be allowed Wikipedia and shit, and their TV shows must always be at least a little bit didactic and regulated by a bipartisan agency under strict scrutiny (extremely important).
I think social media should be severely restricted anyway. It's been nothing but attention whoring and brainrot bullshit ever since it was socially acceptable to use your mug as your profile picture.

By far, one of America's worse social mistakes post-1990 was taking teenagers' whims seriously. Unfortunately such a measure can only be applied by a regime like Trump's because it would probably go as far as reversing gay marriage.
>>
>>64658046
> Denmark is going to restrict social media for children under 15

What does this look like in practice? Is it gonna be like age-restricted porn sites, where you just click “I’m 18” and boom, you’re in? Will this actually have the effect of keeping under-15’s off of social media?
>>
>>64658081
Australia passed a similar law banning under-16s, which went into effect just last week. Allegedly, it hasn't been terribly successful on the technical level, and I have to read up more on it. It's using a combination of face scanning and algorithmic age estimation.
Teenagers were able to just use their older friends'/siblings' faces or engage with "old people" topics on the apps to circumvent the ban, but many adults think it's a pain and some stopped using social media altogether because it's a hassle to do all that just to look at AI-generated animal videos or looped clips of dancing whores.
While I'm sort of a Pirate Party type, I don't mind this as long as it's restricted to Web 2.0 platforms. The civil liberty/free market argument doesn't work when it's just transferring all user data to select companies who themselves lobby governments and hoard all the information or give it to Five Eyes anyway. Most normalniggers post their faces on these platforms every day, but many of them seem to think it's an invasion of privacy when it's time to use their face to verify their account. It's a difficult thing to tune, as it were, but I think it's worthwhile even to just reduce the number of people on these websites/applications.

Making social media less socially acceptable in schools and such is also a way of reducing its influence on impressionable teenagers, so Australia's ban was not a complete failure.

I don't mean to praise what Australia is doing. They're still doing shit like banning pornography featuring small-chested women to protect the chilluns, and while I also dislike pornography (but I don't think the government should regulate it, it should be a more bottom-up movement targeting young men), it tells you where they're coming from with these new laws. Same applies to Denmark.

We live in interesting times, and our social ills will likely prompt a revival of local Civic Orgs.
Like the ~1880's post Gilded Age boom, that yielded Rotary Club, Sierra Club, Boy Scouts, et cetera
Bottom-up, attractive Civic Orgs will do a lot more good than techbro solutions, I agree with you.

The one time I need it and drew on a homeless man who got suddenly aggressive it stayed in my pocket. The homeless guy went back to the ground. A few blocks later I got detained by the cops then they have me my shit back unloaded and told me not to reload it in public.

The Dutch signed a deal to buy Skyranger 30 systems, for 1bn - about 300 million under the planned budget. It has not been made known how many systems are being bought, but in an earlier stage 22 mobile systems were mentioned initially - however an unannounced number of static systems and training simulators are also part of the signed deal possibly bringing it up to 75 systems. The mobile system is to be mounted on the ACSV tracked platform as pictured here. FIM-92 Stinger quad-launchers have been selected for integration. It will use an X-band AESA radar.
Rheinmetall Switzerland will produce 3 prototypes, and Rheinmetall Netherlands will partially produce and assemble the systems. Deliveries should complete by 2029.

It looks like there is some converging onto this particular system in Europe. Future operators include Germany, Austria and Denmark. Potential future operators include Belgium, Czech Rep., Hungary, Italy and Lithuania. If they all sign up there could be around 800+ of these systems in Europe by the 2030s

It's also under consideration for the US armed forces but that seems a long shot.

"died in the war" and "killed by the USA" are not actually the same thing especially when one side's favourite way to fight is boobytrap everything in sight which then blows the legs off of some poor farm boy who stumbles across it or when they use a different poor farm boy to go dig old soviet mines out of the ground to then use on you.

Most Jap liveries(standard light grey, not the funky special ones) are best of type. F-104, F-4, F-15, all the best looking of their kind. Best grey, nice simple red rondel. Dunno what they were thinking with the turquoise on the F-2 though

there is no alternative to F-35
there will be no EU alternative to F-35 or NGAD in the next 2 decades, FCAS being a germ-frog project makes it a dead project
whether GCAP will be a competitor to NGAD remains to be seen, US has several decades of advantage in design and operation experience
>>
>>
>>64656957
There's not really any comparison to be made between the GCAP and NGAD. GCAP is going to be more like an F-35 2: Electric Boogaloo planned to come out no earlier than 2035, while NGAD is an intercontinental monster that's in production right now at a cost 4 times greater than the F-35.

https://surplus.botach.com/gh-armor-systems-4400-series-10x12-lvl-iv-plate-set-police-trade/
>>
>>64657012
All evidence points to them literally being recalled plates from five years ago that lost their NIJ certification because of a failed FIT follow up test. The timing is extremely suspect, especially since Botach has all four recalled Hesco models. 4400, 4600, 3410, 3610. The five year warranties by now are all expired. An anon ran the 4600 on their page against the NIJ naughty serial number list and it came up. Working theory is that someone at Hesco sold these out the back door to Botach years ago, after the recalls, and Botach waited until the warranties expired.
All of these plates were suspended for faulty heat treatment on the ceramic strike faces and cannot be trusted to make their advertised rating. However, in the words of the NIJ, armor of reduced effectiveness is better than no armor at all. Since these are only $100 a set, they're basically the final ditch option for people that need SOMETHING and can't afford yesterday's newspaper.

If you have any ability to save up, I'd much rather look to options in the $320-360/set bracket. Gilliam 1023, Gilliam 0425, Highcom SP8 (this sucks). LA Police Gear edge-to-edge Level IV is on sale for $290 a set. Gilliam 1023 is the top performer in that bracket. If you can raise to $450 a set then used Protech 2230s. All of the above options are at least passable and of similar weight to the 4400s, and will actually stop .30-06 M2AP. Even the RMA XRT (no M2AP, M80A1 tops) is preferable and I strongly distrust RMA.

Very useful for research purposes of impacts in the 1~10 km/s range, the kind that happens in space between spacecrafts and very small debris in the sub 5mm diameter range, and to study hypersonic aerodynamics. Military applications are pointless as there are better systems for the purpose, i.e. railguns, but then again for the time being railguns are a solution still in search of a problem.
