What gives? Why is everyone still pretending that we're living the 20th century? People are so tired of waiting for these weapons that they're building the things themselves in their garages.

I would like to know why this guy's name keeps popping up in glownigger speculative capabilities threads. He appeared in the sub-diffraction limit ISR thread a few days ago. What does this nigger REALLY do for Raytheon, besides Vice President-ing? It's not a coincidence that everytime some speculative black project is mentioned, this dude's name pops up somewhere in a related research paper.

A lot of "sci fi weapons" are in use and have been in use for a while, they're just in forms that people don't recognize as "a sci fi weapon" because they're normalized.
Like heat rays. We have heat rays. They're called "flamethrowers".
>um but that's not a laser or a beam of light or
Exactly my point. The whole purpose of a heat ray is "it sets things on fire at a distance", and if you try to use light by itself then you're just wasting energy because light ironically isn't a good transporter of heat unless it is at scale. But do you know what is a good transporter of heat at small scales? A stream of burning chemicals that have been partially vaporized. There's your heat ray, you're welcome.

Little differences in power are somewhat irrelevant when a single watt is enough to instantly blind at significant range.

Goggles will be common, but they're a cope, you need to know beforehand what your enemy is using and green, blue, and red are all very common. Multi color lenses drop visibility so much that forcing your enemy to use them is an advantage in itself.

The only solid solution is totally blocking off the eyes but that's basically a money-check on your enemy.
>>
>>64746751
We'll finally get some work done on artificial eyes, the flesh is weak
>>
>>64767408
Lenses are actually pretty lightweight and affordable so soldiers could carry multiple sets and wear them as needed. A base frame could filter non-visible light so soldiers would only need to see refraction from the laser to identify which lenses they need to use.

I saw something like that. It was as tall as a doberman or great dane but instead of being lanky, it was a giant pit bull. It pushed past the owner who was stepping out the front door to smoke when I was walking down the street and ran out to get me all pissed off, barking and freaking out. I ran into traffic to avoid it. Luckily, there was traffic, and luckily, the dog didn't want to run into traffic. They had the whole family out on the front porch trying to hold this thing back by the collar; mom, dad, and daughter.

We have just seen the US carry out Operation Absolute Resolve, a flawless raid in Venezuela but there's so much more than what meets the eye.
The fact that the Nightstalkers could just infil and exfil on gunships guns blazing is insane in the era of gay drones and MANPADS.
They didn't even have to worry about the overall IADS. IR dazzlers or just shooting back was very effective against any fuckers that tried to get a shot off. More than half of the air assets in theater being SIGINT and EW just shows the importance of spectral dominance in addition to SEAD and as SEAD itself. It's obvious Growlers used their brand spanking new mid-band Growler pods to jam fire control radars, F-35s used their Barracuda suites, but what the EC-130H's were doing could be anyone's guess. But the power went out and that says something.

It was actually 2.2 billion, but this was after the russian shipyard stopped working on the ship for two whole years and had to be wrangled in their blatant acts of corruption by the Russian president himself because Russian military exports were only netting them 8 billion in total. Mind you, this shipyard had only worked on submarines so they were never equipped to deal with carriers in the first place

Why would you want "peak murderers" with a drug problem as your generals? How does being good at killing civilians to cover up your botched raid make you good at organizing logistics for thousands of men or tailoring the means of your use of force to accomplish political ends?

>>
>>64765503
They aren't overrated when you consider them what they are - people who got picked to an actual minimal standard, people who know how to use their equipment, follow orders, and have more training than the rest.

People tend to view them as superman, they are just a unit that can be relied on to consistently perform, understand english, not be myopic, drive a car, walk 10 miles without dying, maintain radio discipline, etc.

They are basically what soldiers are supposed to be, not supermen.

This is unironically the norm/standard in any management/leadership/professional field in society.
You don't really realize it until you actually get to a "professional career" and start interacting with these people personally/outside work, but basically anyone intelligent and successful or in a position of leadership/management is doing hookers and blow or finding a way to have more sex and do drugs secretly behind their families back.

UN peacekeepers should be armed to the tits. I'm talking tanks, artillery, jets, high training & standards for every soldier. Hell give them fucking nuclear weapons, arm every infantry man into high hell and train them into guerilla warfare & build emplacements.

Then you take them, force them between two countries. And if either side tries to attack one another, you kill anyone approaching the border. You bomb bases near the boarder and shoot down any planes. And if they somehow get close to destroying this peacekeeping force, you nuke them.

>But how do you fund it!
You force everyone to do fund it. 0,5% of GPD from every country on earth, if they don't their government will face the wrath of the peacekeepers. Its a positive for more peaceful countries that don't want to maintain massive militaries due to lower military spending. This would also make the world much more stable which is good for making money as well.

>>64766111
No you will get random soldiers from random countries who volunteered their soldiers for money or experience. Also who wants to die for the UN? UN peacekeepers from first world countries are willing to fight because they have some interest in preserving their dignity but the third world soldiers are just there for a paycheck. But more importantly who wants to die for the UN and why are you so invested in the UN?
>>
>>64766111
The UN answers to bureaucrats with conflicting interests AND only operates where they do by consent of the (official) parties involved.
The only situation in which a UN peacekeeper would so much as raise their voice, let alone open fire, is if they are already taking very heavy fire and they'll die if they don't try fighting back.

Unless it's a shithole in Africa, in which case the rules of engagement are "have fun"
>>
>>64766111
Also all the troops should be exclusively from Ireland
>>
>>64767179
One rare exception was Nordbat in kosovo who just ignored all orders from the UN and their own politicians and shot everything. Good times.
>>
This requires creating an army that mogs every other army on earth. This force could then declare sovereignty over the entire world.

There is nothing mechanically wrong with this grip.

>one hand is going to take the recoil
>recoil force is transmitted along the other hand as well

This is useful especially for larger calibers or smaller shooters.
With the stupid grip which is considered "right", the other hand simply doing nothing other than pushing the firing hand sideways.

Perhaps if you are using your other hand to protect your firing hand's wrist, you should move to a lower caliber or pick up heavy objects more frequently. Another good alternative would be to place the supporting hand in front of the firing hand like a normal person.
