So NTA but what's the deal with being a god in AoS. Is it just being a singular powerful enough entity, do you need a following, are the newer gods such as Sigmar and Nagash on par with like chaos gods or is it just that Chaos gods are higher tier due to being for entire concepts as opposed to the more dedicated singular gods. Is it like Demi-god vs God style stuff or what's the deal here.

On top of that Archaon is not a god but is on par and powerful enough to kill them, and the Chaos gods seemingly give him lots of sway and respect.
>>
>>97244735
Maybe I'm full of shit but I think the word 'god' in aos can refer to a bunch of different entities. You've got the chaos gods of course, the 'elemental' gods tied to a wind of magic (siggy, alarielle, tyrion, ...), you've got mortals who ascended to godhood through sheer power (kragnos) or due to worship + absorbing souls (morathi). There also seem to be gods that exists purely due to people worshipping them, like the various death gods in shyish. Maybe it's explained in detail in one of the broken realms books or whatever but it seems fairly nebulous to me. Especially the border between "really powerful individual" and "ascended god". Like what exactly did morathi do to cross that treshhold?
I guess this isn't all that different to how the word god in the english language has come to mean a billion different things. From capital g God, to the gods of various ancient religions, to 'entity in charge of local creek' in ancient greek or chineee or whatever mythology.
Tldr no clue man

You're getting pretty harsh responses and desu I felt like giving you one too.

The squealing yearning for low-effort instant gratification is pretty sad. Your nephew should be excited to dig into the rules and lore and to learn how to do miniature modeling. He should have been curled up on a couch reading the rulebook multiple times. Teach him some patience. And have some creativity yourself -- if you had really wanted to play an immediate demo game you could've use tokens, empty bases from the box, etc.

Your rage reminds me of a washed-up divorce dad sloptuber (Guerilla Miniatures) who is constantly yammering about games "passing the Christmas morning test" but that's the province of a denuded cuntsoomer bitch who goes through game systems like bags of Doritos, playing them once or twice and then abandoning them to the Shelv'ed Wastes of the basement.

For less than the cost of a Big Mac, fries and a Coke, you can buy a loaf of fresh bread and some good cheese or roast beef, which you will enjoy much more.

It really is amazing to watch grown fucking adults whinging that modern, highly shrimplified GW games are too hard to understand as someone who figured out the far less polished(but objectively superior) versions of these games that existed in the 90's as a fucking 8 year old.

>I wish more new games would try something different, any fucking thing
It's very much doing its own thing gameplay wise (which is good and a nice attempt at a simulation of the source material), and I don't like the card 'art' being all screencaps or posters (though the foils of the latter can look good), but I like how the Godzilla tcg encourages you to hand-dump because you draw back up to the max at the end of your turn. In a lot of ways it feels more like a board game that happens to have a TCG attached to it.
>>
>>97244201
I don't believe they ever did. Seems like they left a lot of money on the table with that decision.
>>
>>97244601
Apparently they also had marketing saying 'with the release of our Nth set every one of our characters will be featured' so now I wonder if it's because post-release production overlapped with her already being on her way to graduation, but I would need to check the timeline on both.
>>
>>97244616
Okay so I checked. Official statement was every member would be included with the 4th set, but 4th set ended up after her graduation. Graduation was May 1st 25 and the game came out Sep 20th 24 with its first set. Additional set every three months. Gura announcement was April 15th and she clearly knew for a while. 3rd set was March. My guess is that she was originally planned for set 4 but the graduation decision was taken after Set 3 was already locked in and couldn't be altered to fit her in.

Recently I was thinking about alternative combat systems.

I remember someone talking about instead of HP the payer has a Jenga tower and he needs to remove peaces once hit, the skill is to remove peaces without the tower collapsing

So I started thinking.
For example what if the combat somehow involves cups and balls?

Instead of a D20+modifier nonsense why not change it up? Why not give a player 10 balls or legos or whatever and to win an encounter the player needs to land 2 balls in 1 cup?

There can be variants of this like a super hard encounter demands the player lands all 10 balls or what about reducing the size of the cup with the difficulty of combat?

What if we implement a fate system from Talisman for the players? What if legendary bosses have something like that for themselves? And can negate the players victory?

What if different monsters use different "balls" like for example some bone golems will be you throwing legos into cups and zombies are aluminum balls while naga can be gummy bears? That actually makes the monster feel different and not a copy pasted set of numbers. Also the different aerodynamics of these "balls" are part of the fun.

Thanks for the info.

Why?
Rice are random and whiel the cup and balls is also random your skill and concentration can help you get better outcomes.

A game of jenga is a series of tense moves that ultimately result in a dramatic and spectacular failure. I think that's what anon means by "linear", as over the course of a session it maps to how a lot of horror movies play out.
Beer pong doesn't really have that same arc per session, but I think it might work to model the feeling of combat. Aiming for weak spots, and so on. Unfortunately you seem a bit retarded, so I doubt you'll make anything worth playing.
>>
>>97243134
>>Each toss is still a discrete event
>?????
When you remove a Jenga block from a tower, the removal of that block affects every subsequent removal.
>>so it doesn't have a linearity the way there is with Dread.
>???????????
The Jenga tower is going to fall. That is factually inevitable. Technically, if improbably, you could roll a d20 a million times in a row and never get less than 10, but Jenga will eventually reach a point at which it is impossible to remove a block without bringing down the tower. It will likely fall earlier than that, though, due to a combination of factors including which block you're removing and which ones have previously been removed.
>What is the difference between
There isn't one--that's my point. As a simple substitution, the ball-and-cup wouldn't add any mechanical tension that isn't already present in rolling a die. Your vague platitudes that people would care more about the result have more to do with GMing style than with the physical method discussed.

>>97243938
>I think it might work to model the feeling of combat. Aiming for weak spots, and so on.
See, this is the first actual suggestion that presents any advantage to the beer pong over dice. Different cups of different sizes, at different distances from the player, could be used to deal more or less damage to an opponent. You'd have your easy, all-but-certain options that you'd need more of, or you could go for the ones you're more likely to cock up but would significantly shorten the duration of the combat. While this could be achieved with dice simply by changing target number, a pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey board with cups arranged on it could be more evocative in certain games--though it does carry the slight disadvantage that all relevant information would have to be presented to the players up front, rather than any of it remaining hidden.

The idea is cool, in the same way motion controls are.
They COULD actually improve a real life skill, but that means at least minor physical exertion. Given the mindset of most people in Tabaletop games, it's going to fail.

If I wanted to improve myself I wouldn't be playing a tabletop game. They are leisure. And trying to sneak in actual effort, be it ever so trivial, will result in disappointment.

I know everyone here is gigachad, but be honest for a second and look at the average tabletop gamer. If they had even the slightest will to change they would've long ago.

Are you using this as a teaching aid and reference for players? If you're using it as a ref, it's too wordy - you're asking players to skim through this to find info during their turn. Going to slow the game down a lot and you're going to have people on their phones in like 30 minutes.

Best teaching advice I ever received was to start by teaching the victory conditions and how they're triggered, overview of the board, then teach the actions players can do on their turn. Your player aid/reference should be built like a turn sequence and should aim to cover the most likely events and not every edge case.

Seeing alyona and momo as the anti-consumerism grinches was a riot, and I loved the little details like the festive Kanna p, Sumi singing carols, and Kaoru as Santa's jolliest soldier. I love the idea of green flame blade, but I find it immensely retarded in practice. Why does it require a weapon to use? It should materialize the blade in your hand. If you're doing the dagger meme and using it like the Aquamarine dagger from Dark Souls, it should allow you to use the specialty skills from a single weapon class you want, like reach or cleave. Why is it only one swing? If its applied to a weapon it should be a constant enchantment, allowing you to make multiple attacks with it if you can, or if it's a spell the weapon used for it shouldn't factor in at all.

It's a shitty spell that can't decide if it wants to be a weapon buff or an eldritch blast replacement, and fails at both of them.

My bad then, but like every thread there was the usual bait "now that the dust has settled..." question. As far as how is it? Dangerously mediocre. It works, but it's very generic and shallow

That's your bias then, so of course you think IM is subpar. Personally I think RT sucks ass, and Shadowrun was my very first RPG so I know and welcome crunch. It just has so many systems that don't work well, so much asinine bloat, niche shit to remember like gear that gives bonuses only on the first turn of combat, and I always hated how restrictive the old FFG class system is. In any case, most folk here are like you, so that's why this general is doomed to a slow demise. There will never be a RT 2e.

I remember an anon saying his Rogue Trader flagship is half plated in auramite.
How do you even get auramite? Its there a source you can buy off the Imperium or can you only scavenge it off custodes armour?

Rolling multiple dice to manifest psychic powers is more fun than just making a d100 check.
I don't care about streamlining and QoL improvements, DH2e made psykers less fun.

>of course anyone who's played the FFG games will think IM is worse
I'm gonna let you sit back and think on that one for a while.

Lure of the Expanse has Gilded Hull (-3 armor, +10 Fellowship tests if on/in sight of ship), so probably that but the GM lets them narratively say it's Auramite and probably removes the armor penalty.
Practically, no, you absolutely cannot get Auramite as anyone but a Custodes or a really fucking powerful Terran house, and in the latter case it'll probably be an absolutely miniscule amount, like a sword or an amulet. But it sounds like the guy had fun, so who gives a shit.
