>>97397933I’ve already had plenty of experience with enspelled weapons and the horrid gameplay they almost always bring. There’s a reason they’re actually banned in Adventurer’s League.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sb3eb36JhqQ&pp=ygURRW5zcGVsbGVkIHdlYXBvbnPSBwkJTwoBhyohjO8%3D
>>97398944>That was good actuallyHaving it be blanket by creature type is weird. Zombies are notorious for dying to headshots, and so a Rogue precisely hitting one in the face with a crossbow should absolutely work. The existence of damage rolls by themselves already imply that any monster can be hit in a way that does more or less damage. >It’s on the player if they’re fighting an army of volcano dragons and they go out of their way to get a flametongue and learn firestormProblem is that some classes don't really have an alternative. A Wizard or a Cleric can just prepare different spells. A Rogue can't just take a rest and suddenly get a new damage-dealing feature to replace sneak attack that enemies aren't arbitrarily immune to.
>>97396650Assuming your new to gming - the solution here is simply to break character and tell them that there’s nothing there after they poke at it a bit. Generally dropping the illusion isn’t preferred, but it’s much more conducive to fun gameplay (the ultimate goal) than four people sitting around as the fifth hears “no” over and over again, and slowly wanting to kill him. Just a simple “It’s a wall, that’s it guys” resolves the problem
>>97399030The fighter can apparently just hit them harder with power attack but oh no can't get them in a vulnerable area lmao3.5 was fucking retarded in so many ways. I liked a lot of what they did but I just couldn't go back. 4e is where sneak attack worked against all enemies and thank fuck.
>>97399030It doesn’t need to be on a rest (probably shouldn’t). Go out of your way to get a Wand of Gravestrike. Take a Prestige/Multi-class that gives other options. The player should try to adapt to the game, not just the game adapting to the player
Tabletop RPGs tend to split up crafting into a high number of crafting subskills for every individual area of expertise. There's no question that crafting is still extremely powerful despite forcing you to go through this hassle, but what are your thoughts on which particular crafting subskills tend to be the most useful in the context of a TTRPG campaign, be it a medieval or modern or sci-fi setting?Pic related is from Legend of the Five Rings, where I'll be playing a crafter soon, and I intend to invest heavily into crafting. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97224887Rules:>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.>Spoiler any OOC discussion.Happy hunting. Unless this thread somehow takes off like a rocket, this will be the last un0 thread for the foreseeable future. Towards the end of the thread, please give your feedback in regard to these shorter, limited run RP threads.
>>97395310Preaching to the choir my friend. Back around 200 years ago, there was a huge cult of a very old demon killing people every new moon. It's what got my family into the hunting profession in the first place. Nowadays, we pride ourselves on being a demon-free community. We actually still have the muskets they used back then as family heirlooms. Only really good as a wall-hanger, but an important piece of history. My ancestor's hunting knife gets passed down from father to eldest son, though we've needed to have it restored two separate times.
>>97395356Glad to hear that there are dedicated demon hunters out there. From what I know most hunters out there need to realise demons are very much real and dangerous. I'm no demon hunter myself but I know a few, they also go after wizards and such.
>>97395427We hunt more than just demons and their worshippers, but that'd be a specialty. I'm surprised to hear that most hunters you've met are skeptical about demons. Once you know there's things out there in the night, demons seem like a logical assumption. I'm hardly a religious scholar, but I'm pretty sure most cultures have something you could call a demon.
>>97395748They were new to this whole thing so I can't blame them, we're living in the age of science after all. Still, you'd think that finding out about vampires or ghosts would be convincing enough. Best to work with people you know and maybe include some outsiders who have shown themselves to be capable.
>>97395748Nta but there's a lot out there. It's hilariously easy to slap demon on everything when we just don't know about. Cause really, how hard is it to sell a vampire as a demon? But we can do better, we can record things better. Better records allow for better responses after all.

I don't understand the Lorwyn glazingIs it just nostalgiafaggotry and/or the desperation for UW sets? Tribal synergy is the blandest kind of card design and that's the biggest part of the set
>>97396991

The Prison fall off needs to be studied.
>>97397775Deck can only pop off turn 4 and every meta deck is resource efficient or just doesnt care about the prison with how strong their engines arethe two best decks also like going second so turn 4 decks have it rough; Prison doesn't generate the same advantage Bavs could to keep up with all of the aggro decks she powercrept into existence
>>97397775Prison's only good when people forget about it, as soon as it looks relevant, their opponents just pick decks that either counter it or not care about it at all, which then causes Prison to become irrelevant again.
Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. >>97398493>I feel like showing the illustrations when instructed kind of gives the game away very quickly.Yes and no. If you read the descriptions and look at the illustrations of the various items, you'll probably notice that they're deliberately created to trick people into misidentifying them on the basis of their familiarity with Star Trek and such, so they take the devices' functions for granted and zap themselves in the face with lasers. The illustrations showing the players that they're clearly onboard a flying saucer are part of the setup for these other illustrations with which to mislead them.
>>97398065if you are the anon and not samefagging, do NOT read the "n00b guide"The document as a whole pushes a skewed, innacurate view of the OSR, was written by someone who's clearly biased towards AD&D/OSRIC to an unhealthy degree, and is also a hitpiece on anything not outside of the authors narrow one true wayism.
>>97398769I find his attempted explanations as to why his one way is supposed to be "the true way" funny though. There's so much left on the table, like he's desperately begging people not to raise any questions. Like those guys who argue that [thing that was realeased when they were twelve years old] is objectively the greatest [thing] of all time.

Is Warhammer 40,000 actually a misandrist/female supremacist setting? I'm just thinking about how every apparent accomplishment of the setting's major male players was actually done by a woman behind them e.g. the Emperor and Erda, Vect and Lady Malys, Angron and Lotara Sarrin, the High Lords of Terra and Morven Vahl, etc. etc.
