I'm really in the mood to play some sort of Player vs World sort of game where waves of monster or things are attacking and you need to either just do what you can to survive or even have mechanics for building up a resistance/base to defend and potentially even attack back.

I've been reading the Chrysalis series and the Waves that the dungeon spawns in that make me want to have some sort of settlement building campaign where we need to grow to survive attacks but I wasn't sure if there was some system that existed for this sort of thing, regardless of it being solo friendly specifically.

Everytime I play a character in Mork Borg I have a blast. I think it's the perfect mix of over the top edgyness and the fact that the characters are by default crude and stinky assholes that brings out the magic at the table. In my experience even first timers or inexperienced gamers hop on the wagon like I've never seen them do in other kinds of games. School walkout for my favorite mork borg character who was eaten by rabid dogs at the end of a dungeon

I really like that combination.
It's weaker than grease since it doesn't have a DC that scales like a normal spell, instead it uses the rules for slippery surfaces and uneven footing (Balance check vs Reflex save), IIRC, which can be better or worse depending on what you are fighting, but it's still pretty damn good.
I think it also enables stuff like HIbernal Healing, which is pretty great, specially for a Druid.

I play online using Roll 20 for the map, Gsheet for the character sheet, and Discord for rolling, using custom commands (made a Crusader macro), voice chat, and recording information on different channels.
I only know one guy from this group IRL too.
Some of the players have their character sheets inside roll 20, so they just click a spell and the attack rolls and damage rolls are all made automatically.
I dislike that because it takes away some of the flexibility from hand rolling my own sharacter sheet in gsheet but it works pretty well otherwise, a lot of stuff is pre calculated as you fill it out.
So yeah, it can get a little slot at the begining but after the first session it's not cumbersome at all in my opinion.

Such a sense is borne of fear, or the worry you can't handle a given situation.
Treat every situation as one that is well in hand, rather than one that requires careful approaching.
Think of a school test whose material you have well studied for; you do not approach it with trepidation, only confident resolve that you can and will succeed. Strike first, strike hard, the battle is already won.

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games.

Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!

The latter. Hidden magic generally either involves either ass worldbuilding or contrivances on the level of "the planet is sentient and fucks with people's senses to keep them from realizing magic exists when they really fucking ought to". Or shit magic.

>>97398024
>A masquerade is much more common, easier to world build for since most of real history still happens, and much easier to get people to relate to what is happening since it uses the real world as reference.
This presupposes that the setting is meant to be some equivalent of the real world Earth.

Literally nothing stops you from doing a masquerade on an alternate "present" or past or future for that matter.
>>
>>97398087
>This presupposes that the setting is meant to be some equivalent of the real world Earth.
>Literally nothing stops you from doing a masquerade on an alternate "present" or past or future for that matter.
I guess, but at that point you're getting the worst of both. Like it's much harder to world build since you have to do it for both a hidden and open world and people will have less ways to relate to it.

Could still be fun though.
>>
>>97398114
>people will have less ways to relate to it
Eh, you can have an alternate world and still have it be highly relatable. And setting something on an alternate world can free you up from having to crowbar the shit you want to do in around real world history/politics/religions/etc. It's not all downside in that regard.

A good example of this done well is the Ace Combat series. It's set on a completely alien earth just to avoid having to do the stock Ubisoft ass-covering every fucking game.

They're not /tg/ related and they are either being spammed by a retarded subhuman who doesn't actually play RPGs and just wants to post the same shit he grabbed off artstation over and over, or they are being spammed by someone who is intentionally making them to annoy the board. In both cases, they should be deleted.

This isn't a case of someone wanting a game they don't like removed from the board. This is a verifiable pattern of obnoxious spam, which is against the rules on all boards. The fact that every single one of these threads devolves into an argument like this only cements the point.

Sometimes. Sometimes its to pay for studies, research, crafting, provate expeditions. And at higher levels paying for your help at your keep and general maintenance.

After all, who would risk death unless they were truly desperate?

Related tidbit. Stocks with dividend payments were first created in 1602. So the concept wouldnt be too far anachronistic in a standard D&D setting

couldnt care less, the 'culture but fantasyyyy' shit is so lame i hope aos steers as far away from it as possible. Its why warhammer fantasy is so boring, also conquest does the same thing but takes inspiration from much more interesting cultures and sources.

also i am aware aos has cultural elements in it but none of it is as obvious as 'china but fantasy', or 'egypt but fantasy' such as tomb kings
>>
>>97398458
I despise fantasy and the same as with vanilla dwarfs, BoC and Cathay we dont need such concepts in this game and we are better without them.
>>
>>97398553
Do you despite Skaven, DoK and mawtribes too because those are all from fantasy, and there’s more too. Much of AoS is simply patched together old fantasy and new stuff (that doesn’t sell as well). Go play conquest if you don’t like fantasy because AoS has fantasy in its dna.
>>
>>97398577

Skaven and seraphon are both factions that fit better in a high fantasy setting such as aos

Dok and mawtribes are the last remaining factions which their ranges are fantasy rubbish and they desperately cry out for a refresh. Thankfully its been leaked they are getting updated so eager to see what they come up with

hoping that the embarrassing dino riding elves stay the fuck away

>gameplay
For Centaurs, you should be able to use them as mounts when not in combat if they're lightly armed & armored. I think you could ride into battle with them and fight on their back without overburdening them, depending on your loadout. Squeezing into dungeons and caves might be a bit of a bitch, and your centaur companion may find themselves too cumbersome to accompany you in certain locations. If people in wheelchairs can make do, I'm sure a transmog potion or a shrinking potion might solve the problem.
>fantasy settings
They're more at home here for sure, like having a horse. Some taverns may give you a hard "no" for your centaur companion, but I'm sure regions that are steeped in centaur culture or adjacent ones have accommodations for their unique anatomy. If nothing else, they could help carry your camp supplies and other provisions.
>loadouts for fantasy
If you're not riding them, I think they can be pretty well armed and armored- think tower shield and a mace/flail. They also make good spearmen, so I think they'd be comfortable wielding a halbard and similar pike-style weapons. This would be with them wearing plate mail cuirass for the human portion and chainmail curtain over their horse hind quarters, or perhaps some specially fitted Gambeson. Other plate sections could be fitted to their horse body as needed. Archery and crossbows seem like they'd work for ranged options. I've not considered them using magic, but having a fairly mobile spellcaster seems cool as well.

The new year brings new resolutions, inspirations, goals, dreams and half-baked ideas.

>Why should I homebrew?
/tg/ products are fairly unique in that it's actually pretty simple to make them these days, with a plethora of products to assist in making and playtesting your game. Making your own games helps understand why games are made the way they are, as well as being fun to do.

>What you should post
Ideas for games, games you're currently making, updates to your own games in broad strokes, and any homebrewing for existing products that don't get much attention. Discussion about the above is welcome. Post good, be good, and look over others products, they care if someone looks more than anything.

Foul Spawn/Hell Spawn are an interesting monster race given that they have multiple forms similar to insect races, but they have no societal structure and their forms are randomly determined rather than inherited. A race originally created by blood magic which then proliferated beyond its creators is a surprisingly underexplored concept in fantasy (mostly due to moral implications), given that Tolkien's Orcs are analogous to that concept.
