the lucemon tamer is a beach boys reference due to the etymology of his last name. due to the etymology of his first name he is likely a charles manson reference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u90beUXTKwoif u think this is schizo posting consider how obscure the reference in heavymetaldramon is. Considering how popular Paradise Lost is its possible that Zephagamon's burst mode having an angelic motiff is a refrence to the angel Zephon who guarded the gates of eden from Satan alongside Ithuriel under the command of Micheal ( who has a badass 2h sword in that poem)
>data squad and glowing dawn in bt25Why? They are getting their own starters already. I just want to see rebootmon already
>>97825876It's pretty common for whatever the starters are themed around to get support in the BT pack that follows immediately afterwards.
>>97825893Should have at least been different digimon. Like the starters having agumon/gaomon/lalamon/falcomon, while bt25 having kudamon/kamemon/pawnchesmon.
I always hear about the stir this caused, and recently about how bad or redeemable it is. I'm not certain about it myself because I dabbled with 3e and then got into 5e, never paid much attention to the scene during that entire era. What does /tg/ think of the system?
>>97825069To not have D&D be a fucking hallway simulator.
>>97825317What rules do the travel and exploration rules in the PHB not cover that you would need detailed out?
>>97825722Go look at 3rd edition and see how much 4th edition pales.
>>97825760I'm aware the glut of information 3.x provides about various minutia such as this. What I'm asking is how would any of that actually help flesh a 4e game out and help a DM play to its strengths? What is lacking in PHB1, DMG1, the Rules Compendium, or any setting specific other book that would be necessary for a DM to provide for interesting roleplay or exciting encounter building, if not both? Part of what makes 4e so DM friendly is it doesn't concern itself with such things as rote standard, but provides just enough in case the DM wants to make things difficult. What is missing that a DM has to have to make 4e work better for what it does? Not what is missing that makes 4e inferior to your system of choice.
>>97816081A level 30 Defender will have about 194 hp at 30 while and level 30 Controller will have ~128 hp at that level. At 30 an Ancient Red Dragon is meant to be a standard solo opponent rather than a solo boss fight. Compare it to level 26 characters if you want an Ancient red Dragon to be a boss fight.

Pigheaded Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/They used to be split between the website and the discord, but no more. >>97825351Read the lore newfag. But to summarize>Heretic Legions (who are very specifically heretics, and not apostates or anything like that) actually have/had a specific motivation, ie "We demand equality with God".>This is part of a specific (and heretical, this is what the word means) reinterpretation of religious dogma where God is actually a Tyrant for XYZ reasons, meaning going against the faith's instructions and your god-given intuition on morality is now a good thing.>Hence, why the Heretics and the Faithful are both stable in logic, but cannot abide the other to exist as they're diametrically opposed to each others' very nature.>This causes seethe in some people who insist that God=unambiguous good, and Heretics must be an inane, random evil, and not a logical, considered one.
>>97825343I think the point of the ambiguity is that individual people on both sides are existing in system that makes them do terrible things to survive. It doesn't seem to come up in the discourse but aberhamic monotheism is absolutely not a utilitarian philosophy. the church routinely torture children in order to receive strategic prophecies, that is a sin. the people born into existence within the heretic side are also simply trying to survive. >tldr: its not that heretics are good, its that the faithfull are also committing evil.
>>97825351There are retards like the guy who replied to you both here and on Twitter/Reddit who unironically think the Heretics have a logical argument for serving the things that wish to torture all Creation for all eternity until existence itself unravels.

Recently I found some Humanity Fuck Yeah YouTube videos that use AI voice narration on my feed. After using them as background noise while cleaning my apartment I found that that most of them are more or less the same. Humans are the only ones who know how to fight/love sex/survive/etc. How can we save the genre or reinvent it so it isn't so stale?
>>97821566Does High Crusade count as HFY? It's a story about a medieval village that gets transported to an alien planet, and they end up winning by a combination of bravery, luck and by converting other races to Christianity.Farscape and Stargate are also pretty good (tho Stargate kinda fell off later on) and in those shows every problem is solved by the super smart human scientist character. The Asgard are probably the most helpful aliens in the show but they're a dying race. Idk I don't think it's a genre that needs reinventing but honestly you're not going to find good sci-fi from people who's whole experience with the genre is Stellaris memes and Warhammer 40k.
>>97825233The only reason you think Star Trek is good, is that each episode is a self contained pseudo trolly problem (at best), so the retardation is contained to that episode. It's writers just knew how to distract you more. The modern stuff has writers that can't. When you actually try to consider knock-on effects from any one episode, it gets just as fucking stupid. The actualy develope time travel (several different ways in several different stories) in literaly every show and do nothing with it. Some other examples:Or in TNG the federation accidentally make a planet breaker weapon, while working with warp ripples to make an alternative method of transportation. It's FTL, it's cheap, it's self propagating, and you can't stop it. Literaly point, fire, forget, it's effectively already completely destroyed it's target.Never brought up again, never used in dire circumstances, not even as a bargaining chip.Or the time TNG fixed a moons orbit AS A B-PLOT after it was put into an inevitable collision course, while the a-plot Q problem threatened to destroy thier ship. A single standard ship did this. A literal ability to manufacture planetary systems. Moving celestial bodies never shows up again. Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>97825766What about the time they discovered how to travel at infinite speed with the only drawback of turning into a salamander temporarily?
>>97825731I haven't seen Stargate, though I intend to at some point, but I somewhat disagree with your Farscape assesment. What makes Crichton special is his knowledge of Wormholes, which he got not because of his humanity but by being decent to those ancient ones in the girl's bathroom episode. There was that one episode where he was less affected by the madness-cockroach alien, but that was treated as a useful side effect of humans being primitive rather than a general advantage.

To innovate and iterate upon it.Tradition represents immersion in the madness. To embrace it and become one with it.>Absolutism/WingdingsAbsolutism represents both a baseline level of intelligibility to mundane humans and a desire to control the madness. To wield it, rather than be consumed.Wingdings represents both a deviance from baseline humanity and anything it would understand as well as submission before the madness.>>97822835I propose Fatebound/Defiant.

A thread for everything Dragons. What is the best kind of Dragons for a game. Just the standard, firebreathing scally Dragon? Or is it better for a game to give your players variety?
>>97812205>>97812672>>97813749Other dragons are a given. I was thinking more in terms of empires, civilizations. Masses of creatures that can exist as long as dragons and rival them in power in their own way, not necessarily being significantly supernatural.Guess I'm trying to write a huge adult dragon as I would an adventurer: what kind of rivals, challenges and quests can he face without it being a straightforward high power magical creature or heroic character. As well as not escalating into all out war with armies.Like giants are pretty good for that. Fae or high power magical creatures seem too wild, momentary challenges.Sentient gryphons or harpy civs perhaps?
>>97817879Ok, not neccessary an adversary or opponent. Something i can see are Dragon hunters (Knight Order or barbarians)Harpies are good. I wouldnt make them civ but like a bird flock. Dragon (Eagle) vs Harpies (Crows).Sphinxes or Chimeras are not that magically. They can just act like special animals.Just like unicorns.
>>97816210Thats just a title given. There are no Dragons in 40k. Hydra tanks are not really a reptile!
>>97816410>>97816210Do we consider 40k dragons to be dragons? Are there any modern dragons in tabletop or popculture?
>>97812133>What are some good, long-term opponents for dragons?Other dragon's enterprises, depending on setting. Intelligent dragons that aren't lazy horde-nappers set up corporations, baronies, puppet kingdoms. Other dragons in the know go after these organizations.

>>97792105Tyranny is cool, Kenshi comes to the top of my mind though
>>97825696Kenshi is cool, yeah, still looking around for a good system that's not just reskinned cyberpunk or GURPS.But my personal top pick is zenless zone zero. Urban fantasy with a great variety of factions and enemies. Hollow raiding or whatever can be done in small units, basically a party, and you can even hae someone play the proxy. All sorts of races from thiren that have animal traits to spice statblocks up to oni and artificial constructs that can upgrade their parts. You can make all sorts of characters and the W-engine system makes sure you can do something useful, even to support the others, and put together a cool power set. I may just go and put something together for a one shot, maybe a super hero system would be the way to go.
