>>97396420I've always wanted crazier and more disturbing designs. The catapult was close to perfect, and the one wizard dude with no mouth and the crazy Beksinski-lookin headcrest with teeth weilding a scythe are my high-water marks for the range. I don't dislike their overall direction, I still think they're cool, but I see a lot of potential for carnivalesque body horror that is missed.

Alphaspel, Stockholm. Probably the largest FLGS in Scandinavia. By far. It's quite massive and has pretty much everything. Also large gaming spaces, inlcuding big rooms with many tables and several smaller private rooms. Lots of terrain available. Also a bar with coffee, beer, energy drinks and burgers.

>>97396721>How do they bring stuff from the ground to the city above. They answer this actually, pulley elevators operated by trained baboonsAnd they looted the hell out of the First Age cities, they have like twelve magic automatic elevators that work by themselves
>>97397050>Aesthetically it seems so weird to be walking on the grounds of the Haltan forest city and having to worry about shit and piss raining down on you but I don't knowNow you understand why a third of the raksha really hates them.
>These tree-farmers have also domesticated wild ver-sions of the exotic vines that First Age Celestial sorcerers created long ago as a way to provide many Eastern settlements with water. Several thick leafy vines as big around as a human thigh enwrap all the redwoods that support the Haltan dwelling platforms. These vines reach high up into the forest canopy, where they spread large fronds that catch rainwater. In addition, their deep roots draw water up from the ground. The Haltans place metal and wooden taps in these vines and draw off large amounts of potable water. This faintly green, fresh-smelling water is the primary reason that many Haltans ettlements can exist far from rivers and streams. These water vines only grow in the Haltan forest, despite many attempts by outsiders to grow them elsewhere. Also neat, hopefully I didn't fuck up formatting this time

When did Magic players get so delusional? The performative outrage about UB has got to be some of the most faggy outrage ive seen in this game. If you bought/played with any secret lair cards or LotR cards then you have no room to complain about the current trajectory, this is your fault. If you are anti UB because they dont "fit" Mtgs setting, but purchased/played Neon Dynasty, Thunder Junction, Duskmourn, Aetherdrift, or Edge then you have no media literacy because they are all basicly UB sets without an IP attached. Stop posting like UB is the death of magic, I remember when we thought Mythic rarity was going to be the end and now look at this bullshit. Its going to keep going on until people are done playing the game and move to something else, and theres not a single TCG right now that could take its place. >inbf I proxy so I winYou are a faggot in denial, if you play the game in anyway, you are coupable in this. Thank you for reading my TedTalk.
>>97392322>Planeswalkers bother me in every single level today. Then you're in luck! The new faces of magic aren't planeswalker anymore, but some group of harry potter students where half of them have disabilities because INCLUSION
>>97388673I'm a pretty new player (started at ONE) and genuinely it amazes me how many of WotC's problem with the game is an inability to branch out. No books, no tabletop games (that aren't the card game obviously), no video games that aren't just playing the card game digitally (and even then those pale in comparison to the sheer amount of Yu-Gi-Oh's equivalent simulators) and basically no reason to engage with magic if you aren't already into tcgs or don't have friends that play the game. On top of that it's really freaking expensive to start playing. They have not and will not invest in their own IP, they will not ease the cost of entry, they WILL whore themselves out for funsies in the hopes that it will create player retention and frankly I don't think the numbers will reflect this long term
>>97388673>media literacy lol lmao How much did WOTC pay you to make this post? I refuse to believe the pro-UB shift on /tg/ was organic at all.
>>97396585We used to have books, you know. The stories were a lot more solid, because they came in one novel-sized installment for each set. When you bought a box, the book came with it. They found that they didn't like the cost of writing and printing books as they fell out of favor though, so they mostly switched over to articles instead. Except they wouldn't pay writers to be mainstays, and would basically commission lots of writers to write each leg of the story, resulting in massive inconsistencies in quality. There's also been some related game before the full online digital thing, but they've been extremely sparse. And also Puzzle Quest.
>>97395644Shit, do they at least stay confined to a single plane? Why does hasbro nurture such a boner for fantasy disabilities?

Opinions on archery?
>>97397538Silly, but like in a good way. Future bows firing future arrows to silently drop sentries and do all kinds of ninja shit is 10/10.
>>97397538I love guns far too much to actually make use of it but I can see the appeal. Bows are quieter than guns, are legal to own almost everywhere and have reusable ammo. However, I imagine you'll still get laughed at if you're the only merc at the function with a literal caveman weapon while everyone else has smartlinked gats that blow the wall out.
>>97395753The anime was nice advertising, but it didn't fix all the bugs and update the game. The game was undercooked. It needed another month or two worth of bug-fixing time. Also, the console versions were not really up to snuff. CDPR should have just made it a PC exclusive or only released it for consoles after they figured out how to optimize the game better. They obviously got better at optimization at some point since the thing is running on a Switch 2 now.

>>97397877it removes the private company auction (that works different from every other round or phase of the game and is present in EVERY 18XX), gives every company a special power, adds a merger phase to let you combine two small companies into a major Corporation (combining their special powers), and simplifies the share price track from 2d grid to a 1.5d line with "first come, first in turn order" tiebreaker for companies on the same price point.so in a way RotLA is like the midpoint between 18XX and Iberian Gauge, but with a possibility of being more complex if you throw in the expansion and all the optional rules like playing to break the bank, HQs, hostile mergers/stock sales, and so on. No idea how it compares to 1889 but i guess it's more complex in some ways (the company powers, events and landmarks in the expansion) and less complex in others (no private companies, no price grid, no evolving cycle length as phases go on, and so forth), i think they call it the difference between Operational focus vs Market focus, but I need to play more 18XX to really understand what this means.
The gulag is back up.
>>97397711>Alright boys, you know the drill. Tell me a game you love but rarely see discussed here and why I should play it, and then I'll try to make a meme or reaction pic out of it. Funny not guaranteedGalaxy Trucker. There's nothing quite like it. And i know of no other stress like having a no engine ship left hurtling through the race praying the rest of the trip wont eliminate you.Nor of the level of cunty that game offers in purposefully building a ship that can fend of but not kill pirates and slavers cards you spied just so the person behind you (that built too quickly and never peeked) will suffer their wrath.
>>97398085We don't discuss Galaxy Truckers because there's not much to talk about. It's a great game and it's not a light game but it's a very straightforward. If you want my 2 cents, I think whether someone likes or dislikes Galaxy Truckers is a good filter to evaluate whether they have problematic decision making speed or luck tolerance.

>>97397896Unmodded MW5 is very dated, horrifically unoptimized (to the point where a top of the line modern rig can still see frames drop to the 30s) and looks like shit anyways, the difference between it and Clans is immediately obvious to anyone who plays or even watches both back-to-back. Did you know that in 1999 Dan Abnett did a comic that was basically a wholesale rip-off of 40k except the main character was this vampire lady that he had all the other characters constantly talk about how sexy she was.It had a feudal space Catholic empire that oppressed mutants, and even had elite warriors with implanted organs and cybernetics using weapons called bolters. Later Dan Abnett had the MC tame a bolter warrior with her vampire pussy.
>>97397403>had the MC tame a bolter warrior with her vampire pussy.Hot
>>97397785My favorite Warhammer 40k ripoff is War of the Worlds. It's very unoriginal since Warhammer did the alien war idea much earlier, as well as the idea of virus bombing aliens to death. But H.G. Wells manages to make steampunk science fiction interesting despite it not having space marines and bolters in it.
>>97398159I really liked that warhammer ripoff movie that came out a few years ago, with the twink main character? What was it called, DUNC I think? That was a decent movie but man, he should sue, such an obvious rip off.
>>97397403Why did so many pistols from 1990s media have that exact (entirely fictional) silhouette?

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games. Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). >>97397912A masquerade is much more common, easier to world build for since most of real history still happens, and much easier to get people to relate to what is happening since it uses the real world as reference. An urban fantasy setting without masquerade has a much more difficult time world building but also a lot more creative freedom in how the existence of the supernatural impacts the modern world and you have a lot more stuff you can come up interesting things for.
>>97397912The latter. Hidden magic generally either involves either ass worldbuilding or contrivances on the level of "the planet is sentient and fucks with people's senses to keep them from realizing magic exists when they really fucking ought to". Or shit magic.>>97398024>A masquerade is much more common, easier to world build for since most of real history still happens, and much easier to get people to relate to what is happening since it uses the real world as reference. This presupposes that the setting is meant to be some equivalent of the real world Earth.Literally nothing stops you from doing a masquerade on an alternate "present" or past or future for that matter.
>>97398087>This presupposes that the setting is meant to be some equivalent of the real world Earth.>Literally nothing stops you from doing a masquerade on an alternate "present" or past or future for that matter.I guess, but at that point you're getting the worst of both. Like it's much harder to world build since you have to do it for both a hidden and open world and people will have less ways to relate to it.Could still be fun though.
>>97398114>people will have less ways to relate to itEh, you can have an alternate world and still have it be highly relatable. And setting something on an alternate world can free you up from having to crowbar the shit you want to do in around real world history/politics/religions/etc. It's not all downside in that regard.A good example of this done well is the Ace Combat series. It's set on a completely alien earth just to avoid having to do the stock Ubisoft ass-covering every fucking game.
