beginning to write my own set of rules to try out and wanting to make it fit the fluff. am I right in thinking that a bolter really should only be killing a marine with a lucky shot? and should never be penetrating terminator armour?
>>97831451>No airbrushThis method is fucking magic for black armour:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUM1ShfnrD0If you want to go a bit further add some metallic paint chipping on the edges and some brown or rust coloured oil paints (or acrylic washes if that's your thing). You could also try purple & green oils if you like that version of the Iron Hands scheme.
>>97831645I tried this for a couple of my DA but they came out a little too blue. I kind of like it and it works well as a base but I kept overthinking the weathering.
Since I have to re-do my SoH, should I continue doing the trim in gold/brass or should I do it in black?
>>97831679You always have the option of substituting individual paints (swapping for a warmer grey, or something else that's more desaturated for example). The overall method though is great imo.

Did the Neptunemon/Venusmon pair get full lines or just Shellmon warp and Divermon digivolve? Cause there is an errant Kamemon in the booster but I'm not sure of the intent was Kamemon into Shellmon into Venusmon with no Ultimate or Kamemon into Divermon into Neptunemon with no Champion. To be fair Gomamon could be pulling double duty as both the protagonist rookie and a rookie for one of them.
>>97831136I think the Kamemon is just supposed to be the chatty one from the story. If we go off in-game evolution lines, it would be shellmon>pixiemon>Venusmon
>>97831218Oh...it literally never occured to me that I was allowed to jump between colors. In hindsight that one is on me considering she is Yellow first and Blue second so digivolving off a yellow does check out.

>>97831177>So is that something you fluff, or you buy them with the suit?I'd talk it over with your ST. Decide how many background points he wants you to spend on the suit/mech and how many inactive perks it has and what each of those perks does. That's how I'd handle it, at least.A lot of the time, the suit wouldn't be anything other than a bunch of soak and probably some Dexterity penalties, but you could use it as a focus for a lot of your magic and the target of a lot of your magic as well.Though I wouldn't copy and paste it for your character, reading about the Alanson Hardsuit on page 656 of the M20 core might give you some good ideas.
>>97831577there is a lot more those are just some examples like i know the shadowlords have a camp that deals (in both meanings of the word) with vampires so they probably know more, but in turn they probably know jack shit about mages and never heard about mummies for examplein game this was somewhat enforced rules wise in 2 to 3ed/revsied by the fact that "kindred lore", "wraith lore" "werewolf lore", "mage lore" and such which represent your knowledge of another splat all costed exp like any normal knowledge ability so every exp your let's say mage spends on vampire lore is some exp they does not spend on another skill or sphere that would help him deal with his splat's usual enemies so when vampires are not currently the focus he is would be seen as falling behind while wod's 20th anni editions use the scholar of other merit that makes you better at rolling in all non combat involving the "other" of your choosing by reducing the difficulty by 2 but makes the same rolls about your usual adversaries and all other splats harder by 1
WW really struck gold with the original VtM clans. They're evocative and almost everyone I've introduced to the setting will instantly take to at least one clan. I'm a woof-fag, but the tribes just don't hit the same.
>>97831613>I'd talk it over with your ST. Decide how many background points he wants you to spend on the suit/mech and how many inactive perks it has and what each of those perks does. That's how I'd handle it, at least.I know he forbids ressources 6, but he hasn’t said anything else. I’ll ask him later. Does adding modules increase the level of the suit?>A lot of the time, the suit wouldn't be anything other than a bunch of soak and probably some Dexterity penalties, but you could use it as a focus for a lot of your magic and the target of a lot of your magic as well.Yeah that’s the plan! Also, I asked earlier but does the Dex penalty applies to fighting rolls? Like firearms? Since using a gun (in this case mounted on the mecha) would need a Dex+Firearms to hit.>Though I wouldn't copy and paste it for your character, reading about the Alanson Hardsuit on page 656 of the M20 core might give you some good ideas.Found this site, though I do hope the suit doesn’t really need 8 points of background, without even taking into account the price of the modules.

Pigheaded Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/They used to be split between the website and the discord, but no more. >>97821296The game itself is just kind of mediocre. The blood dice are a nice enough mechanic, but the resolution mechanics around them are just so-so. Basic bitch alternating activation was also a poor choice when you're obligated to gun for maximum warband size as the campaign progresses. 40+ individual activations per round was just a slog in what should have been the most exciting games of the campaign.
>>97831699Its just mordheim with ranged focus. its fine. As another anon mentioned here, take this setting and slap Turnips rules on it and it would be something cool. I feel like for a WW1 game with crusades its sorely lacking in scale and simplicity to just pick up a game. Campaign games are horrible to get people to start let alone finish. The setting of TC is cool, I feel its actually the rules that will hinder it resonating more.
>>97831280OHHHHHHHHHH BIG MAN! BIG HARD MAN!!

>>97791970Sippy fucking bippy
>>97825771>It's improv; the classic "yes, and..." rule.Improv isn't gaming> Maybe the DM expected them to look for someone to cast Identify on it and was planning to introduce the College of Mages this session; and when the players take a more mundane route, they get to introduce a new character and new elements to the story. So just because the players did something the DM didn't expect, they now get to spawn in something that... introduces the thing the DM wanted to do anyway?? That's just railroading with extra steps. .
>>97822242Fetishes fuck over other stuff when used too much as it stops being about anything else or contrived in. And it limits options as you can't do stuff with a subject that undermine the fetish like how a vorefag has an autistic freakout when the monster gets sliced apart in the throat because they tried to swallow someone with daggers. Or how someone being mutilated to a horrific monster is going being a body horror thing that wants put out of its misery too much for people into TF to fantasize have happening to them.

Not into the body horror stuff fetishistically but they can coexist and even complement each other perfectly, Made in Abyss is a great example. In fact a lot of great manga are just transparently based on the author's fetish. Not being able to write "your fetish but bad sometimes" is just being a shit writer, doesn't mean fetish-based writing is bad.

Gearhead thread but for /tg/Part of why I like to play ttrpg's is the analog aspect. I prefer to keep all digital things out of the experience. No laptops, ipads, phones at the table. Well, an exception can be made for googling something quick, but other than that, keep that shit in your pocket.I like to do my gm prep, world building, drawing maps, in notebooks. npc and character sheets etc.on paper.I really like MUJI stationery. Their notebooks are really nice, and their pens and pencils are amazing.I recently found some hex paper notebooks on amazon. That was really nice to use to draw some hex maps.Do you have any neat stationery or other analog "gear" that you really like? Could you share some of your cool items or showcase your note taking system or maps or whatever?
>>97830938>I still keep a MS Surface behind the screen to quickly look up rules though...There's nothing wrong w/ doing both. I have nothing to add to the discussion, merely enjoying the pics. I do have some personal observations from playing several sessions of paper-only Ironsworn. >I don't usually go back to read notes/journals of previous sessions even when playing digitally. Having both in physical papers didn't change that. >If anything, re-reading past sessions didn't feel that great since it looked like a bunch of notes (am i back in college??) >I'm not an artist, so the notes and journals are kinda bland to glance at too. A minimal level of artistry might be required for all-paper play, at least for me. >my handwriting is decent, but not being able to search my notes felt incredibly limiting >Persistent frustration and annoyance from not being able to write down imaginations and thoughts quickly to paper in detail - either had to sacrifice time to write detailed account by hand or sacrifice detail by summarizing what I envisioned. >keeping a different binder for re-orderable set of notes on worldbuilding elements became a necessity, but it added to the physical clutter (MORE binders, sire?) In the end, I abandoned the paper-only play. I REALLY want it to work for me but it just isn't clicking. I believe my main hurdles were from not knowing how to draw, which impacted my desire to read my old sessions even when played outside the papers-only medium.
