I was diving in the archives and discovered this thing that /tg/ made a long time ago. Catgirls + an underwater world. It looks like the project withered away and everyone involved left this board ten or so years ago.

So, how was it? Did it ever get off the ground?

Same boat. Lost my last grandparent a few years ago, and my mother is older with some health problems starting. I'm 40 with salt and pepper sides now. Wasn't I just 30 yesterday? From what Ive heard from coders, it automates tedious baby code well for applications that do a couple of tasks but you turn into a lead babysitting a junior employee/intern essentially.
>>
>>97377686
That was essentially his gripe. It saved him some time but he found out the AI doesn't truly understand what it was doing so he had to look through everything it did to locate and mend errors. Additionally, he couldn't count on the machine to keep an accurate account of what it's done so he was unable to easily verify the completion of assigment.
Ultimately, the costs were outweighed by the benefits.

Truthfully, I think it's theoretically possible for a machine to do the tasks he does I just don't think it will be done solely through LLMs. The machine is perfectly adequate at imitation but it lacks the solid understanding of what works and what does not so it falls short of what is required. There is an absence of logic. There is something missing and this deficiency seems to be outright ignored or at times purposefully downplayed.

I don't know if a world where AI creates for us is a good one but I know until this issue is rectified it wont match us satisfactorily. Though it feels like most proponents of the tech are less interested in solving this problem and more in getting us to adopt it in the first place. Though admittedly this could be the result of the availability of examples. Maybe the people who are interested in fixing this are drowned out by tech grifters and investment bros. Who can say?

Now that I've seen the Liberator decks as divided by color (ignoring Zenith due to being a villain, Cool Boy for not really having a deck and Unchained for being a fuckwit) it only just occured to me that each deck belongs with two other decks.
I always felt the color combinations were half-assed but they are all actually pretty well thought out.
The only flaw in the logic is that certain tamers got extra cards like Owen and Shoto having MedievalGallantmon or Arisa getting Hanimon but I can safely bet that the designations happened before the adjustments.
Looking even further, the girls have Yellow and Purple spread evenly between them while the men are mostly green. What we can deduce from this is that females would play the worst decks like Security Yellow and Dark Animal engine and men play ramping/rushdown on average.
If you're not human then you play Black, just look at Altea, Close and Winr, especially Winr that horrific monster bullying poor Yuuki.

So I bought this as I really like Conan 2d20 System and I was surprised that system appears to be very rules lite compared to Conan 2d20 or WHFR 4E and a lot of rules and stuff appears to be on GM to flesh out. Usually i pay for RPG books because i don't want to figure out how much damage or to hit modifier some fancy sword has but in Dune core rulebook, its precisely that, book demands that i figure it out instead of giving me stat blocks.
may be its just I'm retarded, or this system is lazy slop cashing in on movie craze?

Only have read the first 3 books of the Dune series and there might be enough stuff for them to run with. But, I know there are sort of time periods in Dune that are all pretty different so it also matters when in Dune things happen. Plus everything that happens is mostly because Paul and his son are so superior that they see a specific path for humanity to take for the success of humanity and basically manipulate everything so that it happens according to their plan. But holy fuck Dune Messiah and Children of Dune are not good books. Messiah truly feels like you're reading something his was contractually obligated to write without having much of an idea on where he wanted the story to go and feels like he's just meandering about trying to figure it out. Children of Dune feels like Herbert finally figured out where he wanted the story to go, but still sticks with secret incomprehensible plan to laymen and readers must be stuck to
>>
I still need to actually read the rules for the game, but as far as I can tell, yes it’s basically the same mechanics Star Trek adventures and the Fallout RPG use, but scaled differently depending on what the PCs are doing.

Because one aspect of the game is that the PCs are part of (or outright leading) their own house. And the type of that house is whatever they want it to be, be it a minor house, or even a great house on par with the “big three”. So combat scales from personal combat, strategic combat, espionage, and intrigue.

Though the biggest hurtle to the game might be the setting itself. The lore of Dune might rub some people the wrong way. Not only that, but the further you get from Arrakis, the less developed the setting gets. So if the PCs house is not stationed on Dune, and they aren’t particularly interested in claiming Dune, then you might end up in uncharted waters.
>>
>>97373482
• I'm not interested in Dune.
• 2D20 resolution.
• "Very rules lite", despite expecting payment.

See that's what I'm interested in. How does it set up "the session." Star Trek Adventures is fucking brilliant. But that's because it has the backbone of an intended, episodic session to follow, which makes the rules serve that function brilliantly. I don't know what exists, within the Dune universe, to accomplish that.

>Though the biggest hurtle to the game might be the setting itself. The lore of Dune might rub some people the wrong way.
Good. Fuck them. I've been obsessed w/ Dune since before the RTS was developed. The old DOS Dune game was a masterpiece, and I still love the version of the Lynch film in which Irulan is the narrator (and the other versions can fuck off, as can the most-recent films. The SciFi channel version is incredibly good for all its bad acting).
>>
>>97378467
Your loss. The way they handled Star Trek Adventures was Rules Light and crunch-heavy. Tons and tons and tons of play options, ship stats and setups, races and functions and things to do. A player economy of stress and success to push back and forth and extended tests that could last an hour. All managed with an incredibly simplistic, 2d20 (or up to 5d20) roll. It's genuinely a masterpiece of TTRPG design.

For some time now, I've been developing my free game, an RPG/strategy interactive fiction simulator about a Dark Lord/Lady trying to conquer/destroy a fantasy world using intrigue, corruption, dark magic, and brutal military force.

I have already sought and received your help several times, for which I am grateful.

I am planning another major update, focusing primarily on the endgame. Players focused on direct conquest will have new ways to find loot—portals to crazy, Lovecraftian worlds, discovering new lands, and a magical slumber to wait for the rebirth of old enemies/the emergence of new ones (and seeing how the world changes in their absence). For players more interested in the less brutal side of world domination, the options for managing the territories of our empire will be expanded. Will you allow orcs to overrun Dark Elf cities? Will schools focus on training engineers for the army and economy, or on brainwashing them into blind obedience? Furthermore, I'm expanding the Dark Lord's interactions with other characters, including available romances. Of course, new content requires testing, and since, as usual, it's highly non-linear and dependent on player decisions (plus random generation), I can't test every combination myself.

That's why I'm seeking the help of testers.
Here is test version - no need for download, it is playable online in the browser, no need to register or download: https://adeptus7.itch.io/playtesting

Who knows, if there was a function it any number of things could've changed since. Maybe it wasn't even 1/2/3/6" at one point and instead some specially designed distance set. Maybe there was an intention for there to be a standardized type of distance increase that would've been made more intuitive by it, like some rules could say "increase range by 1 stage" or something and that meant going up in colour. Maybe there were plans to make movement bonues add or subtract one shape of distance, and then using different shapes for a team's movement would have some interesting implications to how the team is affected by stuff like injuries (e.g. a team with 6x1 movement is affected less than a team with 3x2 movement, even though they both start off with 6").

Does anyone have that flow chart that shows cover vs conceal vs can't be targeted at all? I'm a brainlet and only play once a month.

Anyways, here's my current project. Just have to paint up a grenadier, another assault marine, and the assault intercessor sergeant. I'm also thinking of swapping the grenade launcher guy's head out since I want him to look like Wesley Snipes' character in Demolition Man. But first I'm working on a Blooded team.

At least stick around long enough that I have somewhere to post about my game tomorrow.

Also, balance update when? The state of DW/canoptek/wolf scouts is just so surprisingly bad. Especially canoptek, and that team could be nerfed without draining it of the things that make it fun.

What are your favorite dice games?
Dice as workers, custom dice, combat resolution... how do you like your dice?
>>
>>97378143
Purposely being obtuse just makes you look more regarded. Just say you're too poor or too dumb to play video games over the internet. Unscripted tools only, and only in some fringe scenarios mostly related to learning rules before buying a real copy to play with real people, or you're a fuckin loser. And it's okay to be a loser. The anon using it to play better in boardgame tournaments is another one

Im as hardcore a wargamer as they come and I still vassal before buying and if im on the pc Im playing grigsby or shadow empires. Theyre superior
>>
>>97378322
Any game where the dice is representative of a character in some way, almost like having miniatures. Usually that is worker placement where in something like stone age, or CofMidgard and seeing them all over the map. Or bagpulling characters but theyre dice is lovely too. I wanted to love dice masters for that reasons but what a shitshow that is
>>

That being said, it should absolutely be obvious when the first person interacting with gets bodily sucked into the thing.
>>
>>97375608
I had a friend who wrote his own dungeon where the secret to open a door was for each party member to climb into 4 separate sarcophogi that you couldn't see into and instantly paralyzed you when you got into them. Everyone else at the table seemed to think it was a genius puzzle.
>>
>>97377832
A result that could also mean that it is a type of portal. Tomb of Horrors makes a point of having a bunch of different traps that look and act similarly but have vastly different results. It is a dungeon designed to test players not PCs and assumes that the players will metagame.
>>
>>97378198
I guess my wording was too vague. I mean, it should be immediately obvious that it isn't just a hole in the wall when the PC gets bodily sucked in. Yeah, it *could* be a portal, but I wouldn't immediately follow someone into a portal that sucks you into it, assuming that it'd probably lead some somewhere sketchy.

I'm not saying it would be immediately obvious as a sphere of annihilation, just that most of the stories I read where "and then they all followed the first guy in and everyone died!" Make it sound like it's just climbing into a ventilation shaft or something.
>>
>>97378275
Part of the context often left out is that there is a "hint message" that can be discovered.

>"Go back to the tormentor or through the arch, and the second great hall you’ll discover.
>Shun green if you can, but night’s good color is for those of great valor.
>If shades of red stand for blood the wise will not need sacrifice aught but a loop of magical metal — you’re well along your march.
>Two pits along the way will be found to lead to a fortuitous fall, so check the wall.
>These keys and those are most important of all, and beware of trembling hands and what will maul.
>If you find the false you find the true and into the columned hall you’ll come, and there the throne that's key and keyed.
>The iron men of visage grim do more than meets the viewers eye.
>You’ve left and left and found my Tomb and now your soul will die.”

This poem primes players to take risks around the color black with the phrase "night's good color is for those of great valor." This end up resulting in some players being brave by jumping into the black void one after another as they focus on one part of the poem while ignoring the "Shun green if you can" line.
