I would like to maintain collaboration in an accurate and gentle manner, what sort of non sycophantic acquiescence would you like?
Recently I found some Humanity Fuck Yeah YouTube videos that use AI voice narration on my feed. After using them as background noise while cleaning my apartment I found that that most of them are more or less the same. Humans are the only ones who know how to fight/love sex/survive/etc. How can we save the genre or reinvent it so it isn't so stale?
What's the opposite of HFY? Cosmic Horror?
>>97841495Everything that deals with how meaningless and small us and our civilization is in the face of the universe. HFY is all about the inerent specialness of humans. So Ozymandias is also the opposite of HFY.
The contents of this thread also applies to a certain group of /trash/ dwellers who shall not be named.
You guys claim to exalt in humanity no matter what form it takes, but I firmly reject such a stance. I believe being human is a quality and not just a physical matter of fact. If you are human, and don't act in a way that befits the ideal of humanity as something great, if you debase yourself, lower yourself to the behavior of something foul and less than human, something utterly spitting on and squandering the gift and potential of being born human, I simply cannot consider the loss of something corrupt in such a way to be "hatred of humanity."
>>97841495Cosmic Horror had one of the best HFY moments ever, in a weird way.>“Poor Old Ones! Scientists to the last -- what had they done that we would not have done in their place? God, what intelligence and persistence! What a facing of the incredible, just as those carven kinsmen and forbears had faced things only a little less incredible! Radiates, vegetables, monstrosities, star spawn -- whatever they had been, they were men!”It's actually kind of a touching moment, which is weird for Lovecraft. I adore the guy's writing, but "emotional" is the last adjective I'd use for most of his stuff.

>>97838464I thought it was Dorio from the anime at first. One feature of RED that I unexpectedly came to like is that you have to beat the DV instead of meet-or-beat. It makes for easier conversion between adversaries' skill bases and DV. While in other games I have to remember to add or subtract 2.
Repeat after me: MAKE. YOUR. POTIONS. IN. PILL. FORME!Pills are ancient, they predate Egypt! We made pills better in medieval Europe by putting them inside purified nontoxic silver to boost power, we don't do that anymore because it's too expensive.Whole reason why we take pills and don't drink medicine is because any medicine is just 0.1% active ingredients, putting it inside a pill is more efficient, making it a drink is wasteful.Realistically in DND, if potions were real, they'd kill adventurers, all over the Adventures Guild you'd see newspapers like:>SSS-rank barbarian killed in the Dungeon because drinking healpot takes too long!>LVL 99 thief killed in the Dungeon because he choked on manapot... it went down the wrong hole!>The Hero killed in the Dungeon because he tripped down stairs and broke all pots!Potions? Not even once! Pills are the right way.
>>97835768>Repeat after me: MAKE. YOUR. POTIONS. IN. SCROLL. FORME!Scrolls are ancient and refined in Egypt! We made scrolls better in everywhere humans got their shit together enough to make writing. Its words that stay where you put them and only special people can understand. We don't do public education anymore because its too expensive. Whole reason why we read scrolls and don't recite oral history is because any conversation is just 0.1% good ideas, putting it on a scroll is more efficient, making it an hour long conversation about feelings and the weather is wasteful. Realistically in DND, if okay, lost it at this part. 8/10 you a funny guy anon. But srsly add scrolls to your game. Just throw them in there, its a lot of fun. Use a random spell generator and add scrolls of unknown capacity, encourage your players to experiment, consult sages, it makes exploration and the world more magical again.

Why don't we just use snuffs and vapours? No digestion, no breakable bottles, just inhale the stuff and it works right there and then. Then you can have snuff boxes or vinaigrettes as gear and loot.
>>97841628You can easily do that for your own game.

I want to do 3d6 straight down the line, BUT, to make it work I have reduced the impact of ability scores. A 3- is a -2, 4-7 is -1, 8-13 is +0, 14-17 is +1, and 18+ is +2. (Then, Proficiency Bonus is increased by +2, to keep the math roughly similar. Thus, a character with 3 in a given score is equivalent to somebody with a 10 in it, etc.)However, obviously, this makes ASI ass. My current plan is to make ASI increase ability scores by twice as much (so +4, +2/+2, etc). Does this work? Is there some stupid side effect I'm missing?

>>97840158>it is at least a lot more fun from a gameplay perspective than just going "I make an attack roll" every round. This is the core failure of game design, explanation of rules and gm incapability to explain to retarded players. Combat should never have been condensed into bit sized single roll is a single attack segments. The attack roll should always be a series of manoeuvres, strikes and melee. The mechanical effects have to mesh with player and gm description that incorporates contextual factors like terrain, approach, equipment, health, opponents, etc. If your combat is boring its because you're boring and play shit games.
