So I am going to start a vtm chronicle in a couple of weeks with some friends. They are what /tg/ would call NormalFags. They really don't know about this whole shtick, but they're willing to give it a try. They're not the issue here. I wanted to insert metaplot events and characters, heavily. But after a while, I’ve realized that this is just self serving attitude, and won’t contribute to my players’ fun.For example: If a passerby saw duke franz ferdinand get shot, they’re probably going to think “oh my, what a tragedy” but the time traveler knows what the repercussions of this moment are, how it will affect that passerby’s life and all that. In that moment, the assasination matters a lot more to him, than the passerby, even if it should. If I made it so the PCs arrived just in time somewhere to see Vykos chop off his dick and feed it to a homeless person as a chicken leg, I might giggle and post it in this thread. Someone here might reply me with a 4chan™ "kys", and then promptly scroll, but my players will be, at best, confused, and then they will move on with the story.I'd be doing fanservice to myself, and the players wouldn’t get anything out of it. I want to share a moment with the players, something we all enjoy. If they take a liking to random NPCs I made up, and keep interacting with them, they become more important. And if a character that matters to them, for example, gets shot, it will be a hundred times more impactful to me, the story and, most importantly, the players, than seeing “some guy” named Hardestadt getting his back blown by 4 Big Guys at the Conclave of Prague. At the end of the day, it is not about the background characters, it is about *their* characters. And building unique moments in our microfiction will be a far more rewarding experience.

>>97382817>He’s Br*tishI’m so sorry. No, but posting PDFs has been removed as it was the reason 4chan went down the last time.
>>97382903I don't really have anything to add to this besides "congratulations, that's the right attitude to have". You should have fun with the game too, running a game shouldn't be a joyless labor either, but you definitely made the right call by focusing on their characters, and the stories you all build in play. plus, and this is 100% just my opinion, most of the metaplot and canon characters are dumb anyway and I wouldn't use most of either.
>>97382765Go search that on 4plebs if you want a real lowdown. If you've ever seen a thread get bumped from page 10 with an inane one line question or statement and no genuine attempt to keep that conversation going assuming someone answers, that's the gist of it. Given the state of /tg/ nowadays this usually constitutes a thread that went close to an entire day or more without a single reply, but it got kept from being slid off the board organically. Keep in mind this behavior has been going on for a decade at this point.Posting official tabletop game artwork because certain unpaid individuals like to claim discussing problem posters is off-topic.

>>973828394 fukken jagermechs
>>97382846Mech names are downstream from model designation, so the real question you should be asking is why they named the ALM "Fireball".
WoB has cool mechs and cyborg tech, but aside from "we should be in charge" and "the prophecies say we should be in charge, reee" it's never really clear what's driving them ideologically. That combined with how much material and skilled manpower they seemingly pull out of their ass to kick off the jihad makes them less interesting, I don't mind if they're crazy and evil, but they could have cool villainous reasons. Transhumanism, anti-feudalism, a positive sense of the future, there are vibes but it'd be nice to have something more than a villainous war crimes Rorschach blot. Also the Banshee-8S rocks, amazing idea to put TSM and a hatchet on a banshee.
>>97382912They've been good guys for the entire setting history, the difference is how that gets them treated by the writers.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help: >n00b DM's Guidehttps://pastebin.com/EVvt6P0B>n00b Player's Handbookhttps://pastebin.com/XALkXkV0 >Troves, Resources, Blogs, etc:http://pastebin.com/9fzM6128 >Need a starter dungeon? >>97380816I got really into colonial era adventure nonfiction lately. Plus stuff like Edgar Rice Burroughs and REH of course.
>>97381944That's an awesome book. I played a skirmish game based on it at a con once alongside someone who used to work for TSR back in the day. Unfortunately I can't remember who it was. He said he worker on Dark Tower.

>>97382279Gfc? I'd love to know what a BotNS inspired D&D game would look like in terms of setting and it's mechanical implications. I've read it once before, and should do so again.

why are many creators so afraid of making a setting with napoleonic wars era technology?
>>97363439>human rights>humanitarian code of lawWell, it was a turbulent era, so dispersing riot with cannon fire might not disqualify him from humanitarian outlook. But the fact that he used grapeshot kinda does.

While not strictly napoleonics (its set in 1880) or perhaps the sort of "fantasy" you are into, ExpeditionL Agartha Descent has a fantasy Napoleon in as the setting's boss and anti-hero.

>>97382650Daemon Princes and Chaos Champions die and get sealed away not infrequently, at least by my knowledge. Totally possible that the blade has some mystical mumbo jumbo that means it traps daemons it kills inside of it, or causes super long (1k+ years) banishment, or was used to cause true death for Prince Childbutcher Goremaim of Khorne or whatever. The Inquisition boys would absolutely jump at the chance to grab anything like that, especially if there's prophecy or the freaky tarot cards said something about it. Perfect chance to enjoy some clashes between the =I= boys and anybody who also wants the blade like chaos warriors seeing to stop them from killing Goremaim/freeing any champions the sword ate/whatever.
>>97382673>>97382692Okay cool, my idea was that the sword was used in the past by a chaplain who’s ship got caught in the warp and he killed enough warp spawn to get a permit buff to killing them outside of the warp, then some centuries later was used to slay a daemon prince who was manifesting on a planet that was halfway in the warp as the prince was trying to physically become the planet and then the permadeath was because killing bin disrupted the ritual he was doing and ended up perma killing him, so hopefully that works on enough levels without prophecy to fly with the lore dudes at my table
>>97379543>>97380076Take heart, friend. Callida stonks continue to grow. That's some consolation, ain't it?
>>97382714Sounds fine to me, but I'm a big fan of that kind of "Narrative imparting the material" kind of thing, even if it's not like super hard canon, so I might be a bit biased. Reminds me a bit of Oxyotl and Nakai from Fantasy, where they kept killing daemons so much and so long that daemons created superstition and gained fears as a result, to the point of not crossing certain bridges on a continent because of one beefed up croc holding it on his own during the biggest chaos invasion, or them being scared of a specific breed of lizardmen because one of them decided to go into the realm of chaos and start hunting daemons down on their own turf.So yeah, personally I could definitely see some whole "everything in alignment at the right time" kind of deal with killing a daemon right at the climax of a ritual on a planet that is halfway in the warp and not. Shas probably has a better handle on what makes the most "canon" sense though.
>>97381536Ouch.My condolences.

I love this card art. It's too bad none of this support is making the deck any good.
So i wanna play ghost but i still lost in the timing of the on deletion effects, for example this case?1 I execute the necromon and trigger Inherited effects get back to zero and thanks to the lv5 i play ghostmon2 I use the on play of ghostmon and search (And here is my question does this kill the timing?) 3 I suspend the old violet to digivolve into a bakemon for free4 As i suspend a violet i can trigger the emblem and go to a lv55 Use the on deletion of the necromon to digivolve for free to a lv76 Give it rush with the other violet
>>97382623Deramon isn't terrible. You can tell with Ryutaro's tamer and Deramon that they're trying to speed up Green which is nice I suppose. Honestly, Deramon both versions are probably better off in their own deck rather than Shoto.dek

is there a recommended xp yield for dungeons / big encounters / whatever else at certain levels? im not sure how much to give out to maintain a modest pace
>>97382641Seems better. I don't know enough about the Bastion rules to fully guage it. Also you didn't mention what action is required for scroll initiate. Scroll master references scrolls you make with scroll adept, but scroll adept doesn't make scrolls. There's still the aforementioned element of it not quite fitting the class, but neither do genie paladins so it's not the end of the world
>>97382778fuck, thanks for the catch. scroll initiate is a magic action with calligraphy supplies.as for it not fitting the class, how so? you're crafting scrolls and building a magic library. are those not artificer things?
My players have just arrived at a new city, Eastsand City. They are working a side job for the lord of their home city. He sent a couple squads of guards to Eastsand to help with unrest and hasn't heard anything for 2 weeks. The party is investigating. They are just realizing that Eastsand City is a nightmare of bureaucracy and other things... They were fined upon entering for improperly shoed horses and non-standard size crates. Then on the way to the closest municipal building, they got fined for driving on the wrong side of the street and, upon asking why, were also fined for being too curious. They asked a clerk for a application for a magical being permit and were promptly met with a giant stack of papers. I, the DM, also plopped down a giant stack of papers.https://litter.catbox.moe/a2m5wz9hv59j6ftj.pdf>The session immediately went to hiatus as they all rifled through the various application sheets
I'm looking for duelist / flintlock-wielding girls who'd fit into a Warhammer Fantasy RPG. Sadly, it's really hard to any that don't look too anime.
>>97382757She doesn't even have a gun.
>dagger deals more damage than broadswordAt what point do you decide enough is enough and you won't respect a game that won't respect historically accurate weapons?
>>97376611The system works on movie logic if you look at modern Hollywood movies being stabbed by a knife is the most fatal form of taking melee damage
>>97377212How would that ever not end up with both of them mortally wounding each other before dying?
>>97376717Don't forget that if they fail to announce a target to hit on the enemy, you can use the random hit chart rather than assume torso, meaning there's a lot more dismemberment in combat, which is also somewhat less immediately lethal, since dealing damage over what would cripple a part is wasted.
>>97377042Correct. Especially if you're a large, fire-breathing reptile.
>>97382716That's basically the point. It's that way to try and discourage two retards from doing it, unless they really despise each other to the point they might as well have a sanctioned way of killing the other. People have survived similar duels before either way.
