He is basically the antichrist.
>>97401776People like you spout death cult and don’t even know what the term means. Christ himself says he is the god of the living not the dead. It’s a sin for Christian’s to look down death or commit suicide. Dying for your beliefs from persecution does not mean one is wanting to early die.
>>97403682Que?
>>97403699NTA. That's true. It's more like an anti-life afterlife-centric pseudo-gnostic cult than a death cult. Death is a natural part of the lifecycle, one which christianity has essentially nothing to say on because it just goes on about the afterlife instead.
>>97403806Gnostics came from Christianity and Christians do not believe the earth or material things are inherently evil and that they will return to earth after the resurrection. >>97403801Sorry phone posting because internet is out and autocorrect shit is a cancer.
>>97403806>Death is a natural part of the lifecycle, one which christianity has essentially nothing to say on because it just goes on about the afterlife instead.Christianity has a lot to say about death though? Jesus was pretty clear that death sucks and is unfortunately inevitable for all living things. That's why he emphasized the importance of living a good life because of how precious and limited one's time on Earth is (also, perhaps more importantly, no one really dies; if you are a good person you won't even really die, and a bad person will suffer the true death and go to Hell). I don't get what you mean about the afterlife, every religion devotes a huge chunk of its scriptures to discussions on the afterlife and what it takes to get the good ending.

It can’t just be about the money because during the TSR era they shoved all the artists like Brom into one room and made them work for peanuts.
>>97403673I only mean the covers. The PHB one kind of makes me think of the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon.
>>97402976Pre-3.x art was really swingy. You had absolute bangers like this and then you'd get some really basic black and white pieces. The highs were higher and lows were lower. The black border era towards the end of the TSR era was a downgrade for me too but still better in my opinion than the 3.x stuff.
>>97402122You can't honestly ask something like that in a site with a terminal level of OLD GOOD NEW BAD bias like this one unless you're expecting an eco chamber. But if that's the case, enjoy your circlejerk.
>>97404222I liked 4e era art and 5e era isn't terrible when it's not being turbo-gay, but they never reach the heights of OP. And there was a lot of TSR era stuff that was just jank and garbage.
>>97402122No, it's about the money. Back in the day they were prepared to pay Elmore and Parkinson for full scale oil paintings to photoduplicate onto modules, calendars, Dragon covers, you name it. That costs massive money, but they made it back (initially, before they fucked up the 2e release schedule) with a broad margin because the economics of publishing were like that in those days. The money they pay artists for some digital sloppa nowadays isn't even close, I'd be surprised if it were even within two orders of magnitude for each individual piece.

Why do elves look down on humans so much?
>>97403783This plus also a heavy amount of frustration. There are so many of them, and they are all (from your perspective) SO stupid because they are learning the same basic lessons over and over again."Don't put your hand on the burner, its still hot.""Don't put your hand on the burner, its still hot.""Don't put your hand on the burner, its still hot.""Don't put your fucking hand on the burner, its still hot.""Don't put your hand on the burner, its still HOT.""Why can't you people ever just... ITS STILL HOT. ITS ALWAYS GOING TO STILL BE HOT RIGHT AFTER YOU USE IT.""FINE. JUST BURN YOURSELF ON IT. I CAN'T FUCKING DO THIS ANYMORE."The humans, from their perspective, encountered the problem once and learned from it and never made that mistake again. But from the perspective of the elves, seeing generations of humans go by, we might have better tools or wear better clothes or have bigger houses but we just keep making the same mistakes over and over.
Reminder that Tolkien’s elves are literally a case of ‘any sufficiently advanced art is indistinguishable from magic’ logic.
>>97403062>noldorfag seething about something againplease kill yourselfyou already post enough no need to make shitty threads
>>97403915Anon, this is a he who shall not be named thread.
Humans in much of fiction come off frequently as simultaneously inexperienced yet still fairly competent, which allows them to be destructively self centered/shortsighted with an inferiority/superiority complex. They are like the poster child for the newcomer race who will go and do something monumentally stupid in the name of short term gains even if it ultimately fucks everyone over including themselves.

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games. Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). >>97402457>It should respect the laws of physics and common sense.Common sense says space would never be militarized beyond earth's orbit and that shit will be turbofucked by Kessler syndrome after the first minor conflict up there which will invariably just involve ground launches and unmanned satellites.

>>97400128 TV TROPES: THE SETTING
After reading a bunch of shitty porn set in generic dragon quest fantasy land that all use convient magic contraception I've started to wonder how that would acutally impact a pseudo-medieval world. Even today we're dealing with a slow but steady population collapse, and safe, convient, cheap, easily avaible contraception turning having a kid into a choice surely played a big part in that.
>>97311994What are the pros and cons of using material components in magic systems?
Did you know that in 1999 Dan Abnett did a comic that was basically a wholesale rip-off of 40k except the main character was this vampire lady that he had all the other characters constantly talk about how sexy she was.It had a feudal space Catholic empire that oppressed mutants, and even had elite warriors with implanted organs and cybernetics using weapons called bolters. Later Dan Abnett had the MC tame a bolter warrior with her vampire pussy.
>>97401497Gotta give it credit for making her pissing herself into an actual valid and plausible plot point.
>a rip-off of 40klmao this is like saying '(blank) TOTALLY copied The Magnificent Seven'
>>97397403Nigga Durham Red was heavily informed by 40k and other epic fantasy but it was not a rip off. In '99 he did Glimmer Rats and THAT is a pure rip off of 40k. Abnett is an absolute hack who steals from every franchise he jobs for and passes them off in another one assuming no one will know and he's STILL BL's best writer, that's how fucking terrible BL is
>>97397493And she was just a bounty hunter retard, by the Crimson Stars the setting had gone from Pitch Black to Chronicles of Riddick levels of overblown
>>97404301Guy Haley might be better overall than Abnett, desu. Abnett's biggest strength is his character writing, but he runs roughshod over the tone, lore, and aesthetics of the setting (despite being seminal in establishing a lot of the terminology with Gaunt's Ghosts). Haley is really excellent at telling an actual Warhammer story, respecting each faction's core identity, and writing within the setting framework. Special shoutout to J.C. Stearns who was doing fantastic Eldar short stories and showing how much of a complete and utter hack Gav Thorpe is, but BL dropped him. Wonder if Thorpe didn't like being shown up.
