I think the question is whether people are talented enough to gen more than a cycle of three or four characters, which many here are. They're what make these threads worth coming to.
>>
>>97351606
You're starting from the wrong end. Everyone here gets as best pics as good are their tools. And unfortunately free genning models are not only heavily censored (Bing mostly), but also apparently getting dumber. So you're either get better quality pic focusing on some specific element (like character), or blur of colours which was supposed to be a complex scenery, with the model ignoring at least half of the prompt.
>>
>>97351651
Are you being intentionally obtuse? I'm talking about genning a wider diversity of character designs. Character-focused gens are fine and I never said otherwise.

How much would/should changing the default setting from High Medieval to Late Bronze Age change the game?

For example, lowering AC across the board to simulate the lack of general armour. How much would that affect balance?

Pick a system that fits. I'm using Worlds w/o Number for mine. Then change the names on things but otherwise leave them alone. I want high lethality and more open and mystical magic, so WWN works well, for me. If you're doing D&D, then just rename things and take out things that make no sense.

Don't try to refigure the entire system to suit a setting change. It's a pain in the ass. Just look at Dark Sun. It contributes nothing.

Pic of the first page of my own bronze age game I toy w/. That's the world map, on it.

I usually see the "without number" games suggested more for their generators than anything, what's the system like?
>>
>>97351610
Mostly plays like D&D w/ a nod to skills and pretty high lethality but not so high that players get frustrated. The generators are definitely what's best about it, but its magic/psionics system, although unnecessarily complex at first w/ shock/strain, leaves a lot of intentional room for player innovation. The biggest downside is that treasure is mostly on you as the GM. The upside is that it's all compatible with anything ever published for D&D, so not very hard to find things to borrow.

Honestly aside from its magic system, it could be literally any other D&D retclone or osr or whatever the hell they're called.

You would most probably only run such cards to counter them yourself and if they say:

Anon, the problem are negates. Negates are anti-game design and until now there hasn't been any real arguments justifying the existence of counterspells except to point out that the game is so far gone to shit that you need counterspells to be able to stop the opponent from winning on the spot; only derailment, false equivalences and insults.

Yugioh has the same fucking problem and it's even more obvious.

What is the counterculture of 2020s, that could be used as the basis for a contemporary countercultural tabletop game?

Take the World of Darkness for example, which was so grounded in the the counterculture of the 90s that it comes across as dated and strange today. How would you update the World of Darkness so that it better represents the counterculture of today?

Nightmare Mode: Talk about more than just politics. There's more to rebellion against the status quo and the prevailing social norm than who you vote for.

China is going to suffer a population crash on its own, partially because of pollution ruining its fertility and partially because of their lopsided demographics.
Africa being a polluting place is also an illusion caused by the fact it exports so much of the developed world's trash. Per capita, most individual states are no more dirty than say, Germany.
>>
>>97351585
This one uses a similar colour coding to the shit map initially in question so I think is a better flippant response to you wanting some sort of last word bullshit, but its from 2016 so its less good although likely still accurate enough.

Environmentalism is the red-headed stepchild of politics that both sides like in theory but disagree with the fine details (heavy corporate regulation for the right, heavy minority regulation for the left) so it ends up ostracized into its own thing. There's a reason why the Greens are often made into their own party instead of accepted into the progressives on their own merits.

Still shows Africa to be populated the same as the rest of the world (sans Asia for obvious reasons)

4th edition really illustrates that they need to clean house. the battletomes in 4th are driving home the point that rose and his team in 3rd edition were just riding off the coat tails of 2nd editions design, and when actually allowed to make their own edition they made possibly the most soulless creatively bankrupt husk of a warhammer edition the company has ever seen across all of its franchises.

i tried to give them the benefit of the doubt with the indexes because it was meant to just be a temporary holdover until the tomes, but then when the tomes started coming out and were just as if not more stripped down and unimaginitive than the indexes, it really showed that this was the vision, and i dont think theres any saving this design team. they need a clean slate

i mean for fucks sake ironjawz army rules arent even a third of a page. every subfaction is a 3 line paragraph and half of them are recycled across multiple armies. they trimmed artifacts and traits down to a meager 3 per army and they still cant make them good

and i swear to god if i see once per (army) on another standard army filling unit like what they did to blightkings and thunderers im fuckin marching down to nottingham myself
>>
>>97351426
No, that's because those 'tribes' were actually originally part of a sidegame called warcry. The gist was a bunch of chaos warbands fighting over glory, showing off some chaos stuff that's not just the big four. But obviously that makes it more niche to use in aos itself, so there wasn't really a point to keep producing all these kits when StD players likely only wanted one of them at most. The game also got soft-discontinued in the meanwhile.
Anyway, not all of the boxes are gone though. Lots of the non-chaos warcry warbands (which came later) got fully integrated into their respective armies, like the hunters of huanchi who are in the second seraphon spearhead. Same story for the nurgle or khorne warcry guys.

Sounds like your fondness for Chaos has kind of waned since man. Don't worry, it's the same for me too. Though glad you are sticking to them by making a DP, they're meant to be dead killy.

I have already a pipeline for my second army and sadly im actually going to have *that* leader on foot. Though it doesn't seem quite as bad. Plus the mini is just too good not to making him on foot.
>>
>>97351307
I wouldn't say that. I still think chaos is very cool, it's just that the army's rules aren't in a good place right now fun-wise. It boggles the mind why GW is so scared about chaotic traits being used on the wrong units but seemingly doesn't have a problem with lmao3dragon (seriously what the fuck were they thinking when they allowed exalted champions to ride dragons?), gigantic chaos spawn, dragon ogre shartaks, chosen knights, marauder horsemen dominating the chaos meta while every other unit in the book is left to rot, and I won't even bother complaining about the absolute state of the chaos magic item list. By consequence, my enthusiasm for TOW definitely has taken a hit, but I've been collecting this chaos army for over six years now and I have no intention of stopping any time soon. I yearn for more games of 6th, or to try 5th, 3rd, or even 8th, but that won't be happening any time soon. I'm glad I didn't rebase my models. I hope your next army turns out to be more fun than your first, anon, but I also hope you give older editions a try. Chaos used to have fun rules, once. Good luck!
>>
>>97351399
GW's problem with anything is monetization and they have viewed chaos as problematic in that respect for a long time because it's a faction which needs the same range as five other factions in theory (undividided, nurgle, khorne, tzeentch and slaanesh) and players will only buy a fifth of the range. It's also not as though chaos really has the appeal of five other ranges either and it is probably the only faction where the products compete with eachother. Compare that to Cathay where it corners a market with a theme, has a small one dimensional range and rules and you have a product that is infinitely more preferable. I don't think chaos will get 'fun' rules until GW are happy with the way the faction can be marketed, until then they'd prefer to have a brief focus on one aspect like marauders and try to sell them, next it'll be chosen etc.

Funny you say, I got a tabletop bud who still plays 6th ed from time to time, so I may just do that. Once I complete my Haargroth. I get the lack of internal balance can be off putting but, your army inspired me to start my Khorne army.

Though humorously I will say I'm in a sort of similar position in that victory feels sort of hollow. If my Knkghts / Chosen Knights get stuck in, 99% it is GG no re. If not? Rest of the army just melts.

So I get you. Thanks for the good luck, my second army is considered the most fun army historically.

Hint: Chop!

The Wagnerian opera cycle based on the Nibelungenlied, yes. It was unfortunately popular among the upper echelons of a certain Reich-wing government, which has made it invalid artwork in the eyes of some. Wagner himself wasn't necessarily particularly enamored of Jews, but nor was he particularly outside the norms for his time.

The perennial favourites:
1. burned out by work, and it's much easier to self-medicate/numb myself vy doing something like playing video games or watching TV than something that involves delayed gratification and concentration.
2. perfectionism and frustration. I am capable of painting to a standard similar to you, but it takes me forever to do a single model to that standard. I know that the camera sees what the eye doesn't etc, but given that I basically never play and only paint (occasionally), it's usually the painting that preoccupies me.
3. No dedicated hobby space (not essential obviously, but doesn't help because the thought of having to pack everything away again often stops me from starting).

Number 1 + severe, 2-decade-long depression are the worst offenders. It sucks really because you can extend this picture to every hobby/interest I have.

Sorry to hear your progress is slow too, but your models look great. Got any pics of all the currently painted warband together?
>>
>>97350506
>>97350858
I'm objectively correct. The most prolific pre-industrial battles are
>Hannibal defeating the romans by...surrounding them
>The english defeated the french by...shooting at them as they walked forward
>Napoleon was defeated because...their lines were bigger
That's about it really. Pre-gunpowder warfare was just endless hordes of Spearmen smashing into each other. Boring! Technology and centuries of tactical experience made WW2 the culmination of all warfare that can never be surpassed. Anything that gets close to WW2 in scale or complexity spells the end of the world in nuclear hellfire. WW2 was the climax of human military history
