>>97141194Actually, I don't get why that anon chose Rogue class. Ruffian subclass and dual wielding is obviously so you can use Daishō as a Rogue, but why not pick a Fighter in the first place?
>>97216797Just a combination of Jin Sakai giving me a rogue vibe and Ruffiian having access to the loadout. It was mostly vibes-based. I wasn't really considering, like, the wholeness of Jin's mechanics and trying to fit them into a build. I just look at Ghost of Tsushima and think "oh yeah, rogue for sure," and dual-wield rogues are pretty good, and Ruffian can grab the relevant weapons and armor, so there we go. That was pretty much the extent of my reasoning.By comparison, when I look at somebody like For Honor's Kensei, I think fighter. I think it's just the beefier armor and the bigger weapon (and the fact that he's not in a game with stealth gameplay). Kensei also wields a nodachi and wears o-yoroi armor, both of which are actually already statted in 2e and are an advanced weapon and heavy armor respectively, so fighter would be a pretty natural fit for him now that I think about it. Again, I'm not like, trying to translate Kensei's moveset into a D&D-type game, but if I wanted to make a character that basically looked like Kensei and fought with the weapon he uses, that'd probably be how I did it. You could totally make Jin as a fighter too, if you wanted. No class is going to 100% replicate a character from outside of these kinds of class-based systems (see the thousand different ways people have statted Conan, or Gandalf). Really those posts were just an exercise in seeing how easy it would be to make a PC with at least a passing resemblance to the first couple samurai characters I could think of using existing character options, and it turned out to be very easy.
>>97217014I see that, thanks for the explanation.

What makes a setting don't feel generic a.k.a. not DnD?
>>97191173So what you're saying is, to separate your game from D&D, all you have to do is proclaim to your players, "Alright gang, in this setting, everyone has nice tits". Is it really that simple?
>>97216952>What wouldn't be safehorny nowadays, something that would scream 'I am deviant'?making the sexy female character canonically underage
>>97216969Precisely. This guy >>97200938 said it already but just compare current year fantasy art compared to stuff from the 1930s to '80s
>>97196293Dragon's Dogma AD&D but with monster hunter controls.Dungeon Meshi AD&D but with cooking. So maybe add more than just basic D&D. Classic AD&D is a great base for your fantasy world/setting/game etc. Just add more to it other some power fantasy BS. Hell people love the basic setting, so if you changing stuff from it. Don't make it worse, look at Woke DND settings and games. Sure you have activists and tourist defend it, but they won't play or buy the games now. Hell will be honest, sometimes not changing much can be a good thing too. Since everyone want to change it so it feel unique and not like D&D they make it worse, and shocker people like the D&D feel. Maybe sometimes just go with it.

>>97190058Honestly anon. One of the flaws of conventional masculinity is the actual desire for weakness so long as it's in the woman. Since I was very young the terms were very clear to me.>You MUST make le high income to le PROVIDE>You MUST get le big and strong to PROTECT>You MUST go out of your way to learn every sexual technique to PLEASE.All fine if it went both ways. You want to do your best and become your best, but when it's time for your mate, your EQUAL PARTNER (allegedly) it's >duh she's the woman she can be as fat as she wants>duh she's the woman she don't need no job, degree, or even a source of income she takes it from (you).>duh she's the woman can walk into the ghetto whenever she wants alone.>duh she's the woman she can be a whore whenever she wants and lay on her back the whole time.>buh she's got to wear makeup bro! it's so hard.Fuck that. Traditional views on women only works when they're cattle with no power. If they got power and rights now now, then they can tow a line like the rest of us.Comment too long. >>97217345Based and reasonable middle ground-pilled (election tourists HATE him).
>>97217345You're very forward-thinking, but I'm afraid the culture hasn't had time to catch up to that sentiment yet. As a man, the expectation is that you will be the provider, even if there's no economic need for you to be one. The woman can be the CEO of her own company and make several million dollars a year, but if she marries a man beneath her status, she is seen as a failure. A man in her same position can have any woman he wants, with the expectation that the woman be younger and attractive than him, but this is not an obligation. Transhumanism kinda got derailed by the digression that is transexuality, and I think a lot of people lost the plot on what exactly humanity could be. That is to say, I don't see transhumanism being a solely mechanical modification, but the nature of true agency for a human to be whatever they want (both mentally and physically).
>>97217508>reeeee trannies! We really should've learned not to expect more from you thirdies by now...
>>97217345>>97217508To be fair, the system of unfettered capitalism prefers this; Division is more exploitable and thus profitable in the short term. Men get striped down to mere beast of burden, women to their reproductive value.
Why are the Blood Angels the only ones that are lore accurate?
Warhammer would be immensely better off if they just said whites killed off all the non whites in the setting so there are zero black people in it
>>97217009>so there are zero black peopleThere basically weren't any until the last 10 years or so.
>>97204961I don't really care whether the vikings being black or not has some lore reason, I think it's just lame that the "minority representation" is literally always the most represented minority and not something more thematic to the planet like inuits and eskimos. Shit's a low-hanging fruit.
>>97217396>um actually I wrote in a reason for them to be there so it's lore accurate, checkmate ChudSomehow they think this will work on people who oppose it either way
>>97204961Aren't these faces based on the faces in-game already, just dressed up as different chapters? the black space wolf looks like the grappling hook guy, just with a less mangled face and an eyepatch (which is stupid)
From the creators of Obojima, a third-party 5e setting directly based on Miyazaki and Ghibli films, on the official channel for Obojima:https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Sxd-p2Gaj5E>*video shows picture of gnoll*>As soon as you humanize the faceless monster, now, you got a huge problem. It ceases to become fantasy adventure. Keep monsters monstrous, cause you need to have things to kill. If you keep it cinematic and cartoony, you'll have a good time killing monsters. If you start getting into simulation, where...>*video shows more and more pictures of gnolls*>What is the howler culture? What is the nature of intelligence? And like, do they have a soul? And like, you're done playing fantasy game and now you're into the moral nature of our world and existential stuff. Are they right?
The thing about "do not humanize the monsters is" is that you don't even need to ask. People literally never even think about it if the game just has you kill a bunch of evil demons and doesn't elaborate. DOOM is a best-seller every time without fail. But when you see someone, in some other game, make demons or monsters with internality and ability to change and start to insist that no there is NOTHING wrong with killing THESE demons they are ALL evil and just animals, that makes people try and see good in them. The more you frantically shout all monsters are evil always instead of just having it be a background fact that you don't need to worry about, the more it makes people go the author doth protest to much, methinks.
>>97216984>It ceases to become fantasy adventure. This is wrong.Any work involving elements of hazardous activities and of the impossible or improbable will always be a fantasy adventure, regardless of humanized monsters.>you need to have things to killThis is only true for games with a focus on combat. I enjoy having combat in my games, but this is a preference; it is subjective — it doesn't change the qualities of all works as observable by other people.>If you keep it cinematic and cartoony, you'll have a good time killing monstersThis is not only wrong, but also an impossible standard. For something to be cartoony, it needs to have the observable qualities of a cartoon. For something to be cinematic, it needs to pertain to motion pictures. These are both visual and non-interactive media, in opposition of games."Having a good time killing monsters" as it applies to a game would have to involve the structure and mechanics of a game appropriate for such activities, and is still down to preference.Comment too long. >>97217012In my experience, the problem isn’t even WHETHER the monsters are fleshed out or “humanized”. It’s when they’re done in a way that tries to excuse their actions. You can have monsters with their own cultures without ever, EVER justifying their behavior. Sadly, this takes some amount of skill. Of which diversity hires have none.
I seem to remember a Miyazaki quote about how killing faceless mooks is an imperialist American thing, and he hates it.
Imperialism is for winners, no wonder that fag hates it
Why was XP for gold largely abandoned as a way to reward players?
>>97215746>What? You're too dense to grasp that fashions and trends are fleeting things that come and go for no actual reason, rhyme or logic? Or just a resident autismo?Fashions tend to go out of style for actual reasons while trends and fads tend to have a lifespan of interest after which they either die off or go into hibernation. If it was a fashion in D&D it died of become of some actual reason and if it was a fad it lived out it's lifespan of interest. Rotary Phones were replaced due to the technological development of push-button phones which is an example of something falling out of fashion. PbtA on the other hand is more a fad and is dying off more because interest in the "system" is dying. Wanting to understand how the "fashion" of rewarding XP and leveling up has changed over the decades is a legitimate point of interest in TTRPG development history.
>>97209828>Stop acting like a woman.I am a woman, so no.
>>97162947>the other newer thing is 'story' and 'quests' in the vidya sense. you advanced The Plot, have 500 XP each. that makes absolutely NO sense to me: so...it can just happen, at any time? what if The Plot was when you and the group decided to free those prisoners down on level 5?Experience is something you learn. It makes sense that you learn things as the story progresses. Obviously the number and levels are abstractions. In PbtA designs you often ask yourself questions related to characters and the story, whether something important happened, whether your character changed or learned something new about the world or their quest. It's a cool way to reward complex interactions with the story, which is fun.On the other hand, grabbing a chest of gold is about as shallow of an action as I can think of, why would it by itself teach a character anything?
>>97216771Final warning.
money feels hard to manage, xp is an abstraction that moves you to anothe abstract stuff so it feels manageable
